Road rage leads to arrest 

On Tuesday, May 6, at 10 a.m., on Cross River Road, Katonah, a resident of Ridgefield, Conn., was arrested and charged with assault and unlawful imprisonment. Police said he was in his car traveling on Cross River Road in the vicinity of Interstate 684 when he was involved in a minor collision with a female driver. Both parties pulled onto the shoulder and exited their vehicles; a physical altercation soon occurred. Bystanders told police the man pushed the woman down and had her pinned to the ground. Other drivers stopped and separated them. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. His car was towed. The subject was placed in a holding cell until his arraignment at which time he was released on his own recognizance with a date to return to court June 11. No further information was available. 

Monday, April 28

8:11 a.m. — Police went to a residence on Middle Patent Road, Bedford, after a neighbor reported someone stealing her neighbor’s mail. The homeowner wasn’t home but police spoke with the caller who said she was walking her dog when she saw someone in a car removing mail from her neighbor’s mailbox. Police later that day made contact with the homeowner who said three checks were stolen but she’d already been in contact with her bank who canceled her account and put an alert on all her business with them. She said she wasn’t out any money and a report was made for documentation.

10:36 a.m. — A resident of Mamaroneck, male, 80, was reported incoherent but breathing. He was taken from a location in Bedford Hills to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for evaluation. His wife, who was on the scene, said he’d been “having episodes” of an undisclosed nature. 

7:33 p.m. — A caller reported a delivery of Teslas to the dealership on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, in violation of the noise ordinance. Police spoke with the driver who said it was his first delivery to the area and he was unaware of the hours he could legally load or unload vehicles. The officer allowed him to complete the delivery. Police attempted to make contact with the dealer management but were unsuccessful.

9:23 p.m. — Police went to a home on Anderson Road, Katonah, after a neighbor reported a domestic disturbance. They spoke with a woman outside her apartment who said she’d been doing work in her yard and there was no problem. They also spoke with her husband who also was surprised to see police at his door. The call was documented as unfounded.  

Tuesday, April 29

10:47 a.m. — Bedford Police participated with members of other local police departments in a drill training of mutual aid response to emergencies on Croton Falls Road, Somers. 

1:13 p.m. — Money was reported stolen by a business on South Bedford Road, Mount Kisco. Police met with the office manager who said a former coworker stole cash from a patient at the business’ Mahopac location. The officer manager was told to contact Carmel Police as the crime took place in their jurisdiction.  

Wednesday, April 30

8:40 a.m. — Police responded to a dog reportedly stuck on a post on Cantitoe Street, Katonah. On arrival the dog control officer saw two loose large dogs who ran away as soon as they saw him. The caller said the dog was wearing a collar that hung it up on the post, but the dog must have slipped the collar. The dog control officer followed the pair and saw them go through a gate to their home. Their owner came to the door and spoke to the officer before bringing the dogs inside.  

10:55 a.m. — A male, 82, reported as unresponsive, was taken from his Katonah home to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for continued lifesaving measures; police responding found him slumped over in a chair. The officer moved him to the floor and began CPR. A medic arrived and took over the CPR and regained a pulse.

3:55 p.m. — Staff at the Katonah Village Library reported a man who comes every Saturday who stands in the foyer entry, but never comes inside. A picture of him was shown to patrol who recognized the man as someone known to be homeless. No further action was requested. 

Thursday, May 1

5:16 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an abandoned ATV on Baldwin Road, Bedford. On arrival, they saw a quad in the roadway with no keys in the ignition and the gear in neutral. Neighbors were asked if they knew who it belonged to but no one did; no quad was reported missing in the area. A tow was requested and the vehicle was taken to a tow yard. Police tracking down the VIN contacted a Stillwater, N.Y., man who said he sold the ATV to a co-worker but declined to give his co-worker’s name to police. The incident is under investigation. 

7:41 p.m. —  A female, 77, from Bedford Hills was reported intoxicated on Babbitt Road. Police say she fell to the ground and needed help getting up. Medics arrived but she turned their assistance down. No further was provided.

Friday, May 2

9:36 a.m. — Two cars were involved in a collision in Katonah in the vicinity of Deer Park Road and Goldens Bridge Road. Police reported that one car was making a right onto Deer Park Road when the second vehicle was making a left turn and the two collided. One car was towed. Police said airbags were deployed and a female, 24, from Somers was taken by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital for minor injuries. Westchester EMS was also on scene. 

9:46 p.m. — Screaming was reported by a caller on Falcon Woods Road, Bedford. Police went to the residence where the screaming was reported and spoke with a mother who said her daughter and her friends were in the backyard trying to corral the family cat. She said there was no emergency and would speak to the kids.  

Saturday, May 3

2:13 p.m. — A woman on Harris Road, Bedford Hills, told police an unknown man came to her door asking if he could see the house which he said he lived in during the 1950s. She told him he wasn’t welcome on the property and took his picture which she showed to police, as well as a picture of his car and license plate. Police spoke to the man who met them in Mount Kisco. He was advised the homeowner had completed a no trespass form and he shouldn’t return to the property.  

10:03 p.m. — A wedding party brought police to the Historical Hall on Old Post Road, Bedford; a neighbor reported noise. Police spoke with the wedding planner who said the party was almost over and they would turn the music down.  

Sunday, May 4

1:49 p.m. — Police went to a home on Druid Place, Katonah, after parents requested help through the Westchester County Crisis Team with their teen son. An officer helped calm the boy down and the crisis team said they would be following up with more resources for the family on how to handle difficult situations in the future. 

7:34 p.m. — A daughter concerned for her mother’s welfare brought police to a home on Christopher Road, Bedford. On arrival they were met by the daughter who was in her driveway blocking her mother from leaving the property with her boyfriend. The daughter told police her mother, who is in her 70s, isn’t well and that she doesn’t trust the boyfriend who said they were going to New York City. The daughter didn’t believe that and told police her mother might be homeless. Police spoke with both the mother and her  boyfriend who declined to fully identify himself to the police. The daughter was advised that her mother was of sound mind and an adult and that she should let her leave. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.  

8:25 p.m. — A person, age, gender and condition unknown, was reported leaving Northern Westchester Hospital without permission. Bedford Police were asked to assist but were unable to locate the person.
