Here's a selection of area events, activities and programs of interest beginning December 12.


FRIDAY, DEC. 12

Broadway in Bedford Holiday Show. Bedford Playhouse, 633 Old Post Road, Bedford; bedfordplayhouse.org. An evening of  Broadway music including selections from the Golden Age of Broadway and holiday favorites. Accompanying on piano will be Dan Micciche; 7 p.m.


“The Nutcracker.” Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road, Ridgefield, Conn.; ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The holiday classic performed by the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, 6:30 p.m. Also Dec. 13 at 2 and 6 p.m.


Westchester Women’s Chorus. First Presbyterian Church of Ossining, 34 South Highland Ave., Ossining; westchesterwomenschorus.org. The choir will celebrate the beauty of holiday harmonies; 7:30 p.m. 


A Living Nativity. Katonah & Purdys United Methodist Church, 5 Bedford Road, Katonah; katonahumc.org. The community is invited to experience this holiday tradition that brings the Christmas story to life with live animals, storytelling, singing and more; 5 p.m.


SATURDAY, DEC. 13 

Last Weekend for Letters to Santa. Recreation Office, 425 Cherry St., Bedford Hills; bedfordny.gov. Santa’s mailbox is open! Please include your child’s full name and address. Accepting letters through Monday, Dec. 15.


Jingle & Mingle: Schubert Club Community Concert. Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road, Katonah; katonahlibrary.org. Celebrate the holidays at the Schubert Club's  Community Concert with holiday duets from local students and adult musicians. From 3 to 4:30 p.m.


Gingerbread Decorating Class. Caramoor, caramoor.org. Participants will enjoy a creative morning of decorating — and eating; 10:30 a.m. 


Mount Kisco HolidayFest. South Moger Ave., Mount Kisco; mtkiscochamber.com. Giant snow globes for photos, Santa, Olaf, holiday market, music, holiday light parade, and more. From 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.


Breakfast With Frosty. Bedford Hills Community House, 74 Main St., Bedford Hills; bedfordny.gov. Frosty the Snowman is stopping by the Bedford Hills Community House for a visit, photos, and breakfast. Ages 8 and under. From 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.


Pound Ridge Candy Cane Drive-by. Santa, Mrs. Claus and Frosty will travel around town handing out candy canes: 2 p.m. at Pound Ridge Elementary School; 2:30 p.m. at Deerfield Road and Buck Hill Lane; 3 p.m. at Town Park; 3:30 p.m. at London and Pheasant roads; and 4 p.m. at the Green, with food and music; townofpoundridge.com.


Wreath Making Workshop. Westmoreland Sanctuary, 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco; westmorelandsanctuary.org. Participants will design and create eco-friendly holiday wreaths using a curated selection of native and non-native plant materials. All materials are provided along with food and beverages. From 4 to 6 p.m.


Julietta Appleton Quilt Show. Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road, Katonah; katonahlibrary.org. Opening reception. From noon to 1:30 p.m.


Pleasantville Farmers Market. 10 Memorial Plaza,

Pleasantville; pleasantvillefarmersmarket.org. The Market hosts 60 vendors selling a

variety of fresh greens, meats, dairy items, root crops, apples, prepared foods and more. From 9:30 a.m. to noon.


SUNDAY, DEC. 14

The BRLA Holiday Tinsel Trot. Succabone Road between Bisbee and the clock tower, Bedford; bedfordridinglanes.org. Horses and riders in festive dress will lead a caroling procession. All are invited to watch and enjoy hot cocoa at the clock tower; 2:30 p.m.


Hanukkah in Bedford. Bedford Village Green; chabadbedford.com. The community is invited to celebrate the Festival of Lights with the lighting of the menorah, latkes and doughnuts; 4 p.m.


Hanukkah in Lewisboro. Lewisboro Town House, 11 Main St., South Salem; lewisborony.gov. The community is invited to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with a candle lighting and refreshments. From 5 to 6 p.m.


Menorah Lighting in Mount Kisco. Village Hall Green, 104 East Main St., Mount Kisco; business.mtkiscochamber.com. Family-friendly event with hot cocoa, jelly doughnuts, crafts and more; 6 p.m.


Hanukkah “Fire on Ice.” Chabad of the Rivertowns, 101 Main St., Irvington; chabadrt.org. Family-friendly event with balloons, gelt, entertainment, and the giant menorah carved from ice; 4 p.m.


Live Nativity. South Salem Presbyterian Church, 111 Spring St., South Salem; southsalempc.org. Join the community on the front lawn with a reading of the Christmas story, live animals, hot chocolate and more; 4 p.m.


Curbside With Santa. Goldens Bridge Fire Department, 254 Waccabuc Road, Goldens Bridge; 914-232-4530. The department’s annual event, where families can pose for photos with Santa. Snacks, gift bags, food and more. From 1 to 3 p.m.


Jam Session. Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Road, Katonah; katonahlibrary.org. This all-acoustic jam is designed for musicians who play stringed instruments. Listeners are welcome. From 1 to 4 p.m. 


“The Nutcracker.” Tarrytown Music Hall, 13 Main St., Tarrytown; ticketstarrytownmusichall.org. The family-friendly version of the holiday classic performed by the New York Theatre Ballet; 3 p.m.

Menorah Lighting in Pound Ridge. Pound Ridge Village Green, Pound Ridge; chabadbedford.com. The community is invited to celebrate the Festival of Lights with traditional songs, latkes, doughnuts and music; 5 p.m. 


TUESDAY, DEC. 16

“The Librarians.” Bedford Playhouse, 633 Old Post Road, Bedford; bedfordhillsfreelibrary.org. As an unprecedented wave of book banning, librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy, free access to information, and our First Amendment Rights. From 7 to 9 p.m.

“Wisdom of Happiness.” Jacob Burns Film Center, 364 Manville Road, Pleasantville; burnsfilmcenter.org. The Dalai Lama shares practical wisdom for finding peace, compassion, and hope in the midst of chaos. A Q&A follows with Richard Gere; 7 p.m.

“The Case of the Missing Presents” Puppet Show. Pound Ridge Library, 271 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge; poundridgelibrary.org. When some holiday presents go missing, only one detective is clever enough, brave enough, and smart enough to solve the case, Mystery Max. A family-friendly event. From 1 to 2 p.m.


Holiday Lights on the Farm. Muscoot Farm, 51 Route 100, Katonah; muscootfarm.org. Visit Muscoot’s animals inside of the decorated barns, participate in holiday activities, music, food trucks and more. From 5 to 8 p.m. 


Holiday Howl. Wolf Conservation Center, 7 Buck Run, South Salem; nywolf.org. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families. Visitors will observe gray wolves Nikai, Silas, and Kinari tear open “wolfy” presents. WCC encourages visitors to bring a nonperishable food item, to be donated to Feeding Westchester. From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Also at 2 and 5 p.m.


Winter Solstice Celebration. Onatru Farm Park, 99 Elmwood Road, South Salem; lewisborony.gov. Welcome winter with a walk through lighted woods, poetry, dancing and more; 4 p.m. for pre-dark walk; 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

MONDAY, DEC. 29

PARKS

Croton Point Park. 1 Croton Point Ave., Croton-on-Hudson; parks.westchestergov.com. The 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.


John Jay Homestead. 400 Jay St., Katonah; johnjayhomestead.org. Visitors may explore the 62-acre park and seven gardens. Open daily, sunrise to sunset.


Teatown Lake Reservation. 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining; teatown.org. The trails on the 1,000-acre nature preserve and education center are open daily, dawn to dusk. Dogs on leash are allowed.


Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. 6 Reservation Road, Cross River; friendsoftrailside.org. The 4,315-acre park has varied terrain with miles of wooded trails. The Trailside Nature Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays-Saturdays.


Westmoreland Sanctuary. 260 Chestnut Ridge Road, Mount Kisco; westmorelandsanctuary.org. A 640-acre nature preserve with 7.5 miles of hiking trails. The preserve and Nature Center are free and open to the public seven days a week.
