POUND RIDGE

Tuesday, Dec. 16

5:37 a.m. — A woman was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  No further information was provided.

Wednesday, Dec. 17

12:50 p.m. — A man was given a courtesy lift assist by police in his home. 

4:25 p.m. — A person was given a lift assist in their home. Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps was at the scene. 

9:14 p.m. — A Salem Road home had a gas leak. The owner was advised to contact the propane provider. 

Friday, Dec. 19

7:50 a.m. — Firefighters were on scene when a transformer blew on Westchester Avenue resulting in downed wires. The utility was notified. 

11:00 a.m. — Wires were reported down on Trinity Pass Road. The roadway was closed, firefighters were on scene and the utility was notified.  

6:30 p.m. — A caller on Pound Ridge Road reported an explosive sound they attributed to a transformer. Police said there was no transformer issue and all the homes in the area had power. 

Saturday, Dec. 20

1:59 a.m. — A driver on Pound Ridge Road was given a ticket for going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

9:30 a.m. — A two-car collision on Conant Valley Road resulted in no injuries and no tow.

5:00 p.m. — A man reported as suspicious for walking on Honey Hollow Road told the police he lives on the street and was out walking with a flashlight.  

Sunday. Dec. 21

1:42 p.m. — A man was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.

Monday, Dec. 22

8:46 a.m. — A report of wires dangling on Westchester Avenue turned out to be unfounded. 

8:59 a.m. — Construction workers on Hack Green Road were advised not to start work before 8 a.m. after someone complained. 

Tuesday, Dec. 23

9:40 a.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  No further information was provided.

9:59 a.m. — A disabled vehicle was towed from Upper Shad Road.

10:40 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for using their mobile device while driving.  

Wednesday, Dec. 24

2:40 p.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.

Thursday, Dec. 25

8:00 a.m. — A two-car collision on Salem Road resulted in no injuries and no tow. 

Friday, Dec. 26

11:48 a.m. — A caller on Kinnicut Road reported a dog barking in distress. Police contacted the homeowner who brought the dog inside.


BEDFORD

Connecticut woman charged with DWI 

On Wednesday, Dec 17, a resident of Monroe, Conn., woman, 44, was arrested on Old Katonah Drive and charged with driving while intoxicated. Police responded to a homeowner’s call about a car that drove up their driveway and into their yard and then crashed onto an embankment. They followed the tire tracks to find the car resting against a tree. The driver said she’d missed her turn. Police said she appeared intoxicated and that they saw an open container of beer inside the car. After failing multiple field sobriety tests the woman was taken to headquarters for processing. She is to appear in court Jan. 7. Her car was towed to the police impound. 


Trouble with ex-girlfriend 

On Monday, Dec. 15, a man came to headquarters to report that a former girlfriend had been harassing the mother of his child in violation of an order of protection. Police contacted the Bedford Hills woman, 21, and she came to headquarters Dec. 16 to turn herself in to be charged with criminal contempt. She was released and is to appear in court Jan. 14. 

Monday, Dec. 15

7:38 a.m. — A truck and another truck outfitted with a plow collided when one vehicle made a left turn from Grove Road onto Pound Ridge Road. Police said the plow operator attempted to swerve to avoid contact but was unsuccessful. One driver, from North Salem, was not injured and their vehicle was towed. The other driver, from Bedford, was taken by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital for an arm injury. That vehicle was also towed. No citations were issued.  

11:39 a.m. — A woman, 91, from Bedford, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters and Westchester EMS. She was reported unresponsive. Police said that on their arrival she was unresponsive but breathing.  

11:59 a.m. — A Bedford woman who offered a basement apartment at her residence to an old high school friend told police she’d changed her mind about him living there and wanted him to leave. The man told police he had no idea of her change of heart. Police advised because he’d established residency she would have to go through an eviction process to remove him. The man told police he’d be out in 30 days.  

Tuesday, Dec. 16

11:09 a.m. — Pound Ridge Police requested assistance in locating a 50-year-old woman from Pound Ridge suspected of slashing her husband’s tires in a domestic incident. It was thought she might still have the knife. Bedford officers located her near Country Willow by the Route 117 Bypass Road. She was detained and turned over to Pound Ridge officers and New York State Police without incident.   

5:33 p.m. — Police went to a residence in Bedford after a woman said her ex-husband was banging on her door, a violation of an order of protection. Police met with the man who said it was his day to see his kids. He was unaware of the order and hadn’t yet been served. Police brought him to headquarters where he was issued paperwork. A New York state domestic incident was completed.  

Wednesday, Dec. 17

1:53 p.m. — The loss prevention officer at Kohl’s reported a couple who came into the store and stole cologne before driving off in a Honda. They cut security wires on the perfumes; the theft wasn’t noticed for several days. The estimated value of the merchandise was said to be about $2,000.   

3:11 p.m. — A local resident came to headquarters to report she’d been shopping at Kohl’s and accidentally left her credit card at the register. She notified the store and an employee said they found her card and would hold it for safekeeping until she returned. She was soon notified by her bank that purchases had recently been made she said were unauthorized. A police report was made for her bank and the card was canceled.  

Thursday, Dec. 18

1:14 p.m. — A Bedford woman came to headquarters to report prior domestic abuse; she and her husband are divorcing. A report was made of her accusations. Police said there was no sign of physical abuse at this time. A New York state domestic incident report was completed and, because a child is involved, the state was notified.  

4:53 p.m. — Police went to the parking area of the shops on Route 117 Bypass Road for a report of a man dragging a woman in a parking lot. The caller said they were in a white sedan. Police found the car and ordered them to get out. The man was detained and checked for weapons. They told police they both work at the prison and were just hanging out; what the witness saw was not dragging but “horseplay.” They were released without incident.  

Friday, Dec. 19

7:52 p.m. — An out-of-control fire was reported in a Katonah home’s fireplace. When firefighters and police arrived the homeowner had already extinguished the fire but the house was filled with smoke. Firefighters assisted in removing the smoke and checked the chimney for safety. 

Saturday, Dec. 20

4:23 p.m. — A Somers man, 62, was picked up by a license plate reader on Katonah Avenue. Police said his registration was suspended for failure to respond to multiple parking summonses in Westchester and Nassau counties. A check of his license showed it was suspended. He was arrested on scene and issued citations to be in court Jan. 7. His license plates were removed from the car, which was towed. His wife arrived to pick him up.

Sunday, Dec. 21

12:39 p.m. — A man, 37, from Ossining, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital after severely lacerating his hand while opening a toy package. Police said he was bleeding heavily.  

7:46 p.m. — A Pound Ridge man, 56, was not injured after he drove his car into a downed tree while traveling south on Old Post Road. Police said the tree was fully blocking the roadway but had not yet been reported. Many downed trees blocking roadways were reported throughout the day due to the weather. This man’s car was towed from the scene.  

Monday, Dec. 22

2:54 p.m. — A Katonah woman reported that her handbag had been stolen from her locked car while was walking her dog on Reservoir Road. She told police she returned to her vehicle 45 minutes later to find the passenger side window smashed and her bag missing. All the usual items were in her wallet along with $75 cash. No fraudulent charges were reported on her cards which she canceled. Police are investigating.  

8:56 p.m. — Police spoke with a property owner who complained she is being harassed by a contractor who painted and hung curtains on a verbal agreement. She said he never named his price and told her to pay what she thought was fair. She gave him $300 but he wanted more. She was told this is a civil matter. 

Tuesday, Dec. 23

8:06 p.m. — A Bedford man, 92, was reported breathing but unresponsive. He was taken from his home to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters and was awake on police arrival.  

Wednesday, Dec. 24

1:22 p.m. — A black-and-white Great Dane reportedly found on Old Post and Guard Hill roads was reunited at headquarters with its owner who lives on Guard Hill Road. 

Thursday, Dec. 25

11:45 a.m. — A woman, 91, from Bedford, was reported breathing but unresponsive. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters.  

3:06 p.m. — A Katonah woman, 58, who fell in her home was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for pain to her wrist.  

Friday, Dec. 26

12:30 p.m. — A couple was reported stealing chips, nuts, and Oreo cookies from the gas station on Haines Road, Katonah. The store manager said a third person was pumping gas into a white Dodge Challenger. The manager came outside and rapped on the car window. He said the three waved at him from inside the car and drove away.  

12:41 p.m. — A chimney fire was reported at a Bedford Hills home. Police said firefighters had  extinguished the fire and were ventilating the house.  

Saturday, Dec. 27

11:53 a.m. — A business on Court Road, Bedford, reported a window broken overnight and jewelry stolen. Police said the suspect broke a window on the side of the building and stuck their hand in and grabbed the jewelry without ever entering the business. Tracks in the snow indicated the incident occurred overnight or early morning.  

Sunday, Dec. 28

4:06 a.m. — Police responded to a report of two shirtless men on Katonah Avenue. The men were located in Lot 2 and said they’d gotten on the wrong train. An officer tried to help them get a taxi but none responded so the men got an Uber and said they would wait for it at the train station. Police said they were fully dressed. 

10:49 a.m. — A large lost dog was reported on Sunrise Avenue, Katonah. Police found it by following its pawprints in the snow. It was reunited with its owner. 


LEWISBORO

Spurned holiday treats 

On Wednesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, police went to a home in South Salem at 8:30 p.m. after a resident reported an unknown woman left holiday beverages and cups by her door.  Police asked why she didn’t answer the door and she said she thought the woman was a burglar casing her home.

Monday, Dec. 15

9:25 a.m. — A driver told police she veered off the highway and into a rock embankment after the car traveling in front of her stopped short on Route 123, South Salem. No further information was available. 

Tuesday, Dec. 16

10:51 a.m. — A man whose wife told police and first responders her husband was weak and unable to stand up was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro ambulance. 

9:07 p.m. — A man, 31, a resident of a long-term care facility in South Salem was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Vista ambulance after staff reported he was feeling weak and had a high fever. 

Wednesday, Dec. 17

2:54 p.m. — A driver reversing out of an address on Truesdale Lake Drive experienced a transmission failure causing them to strike two mailboxes located on the street. Messages were left for the neighbors whose mailboxes were damaged. The driver declined medical treatment. 

5:22 p.m. — An intoxicated woman, 27, was taken from her home in South Salem by Vista firefighters. A family member said she has mental health issues. 

6:35 p.m. — A deer suffering from multiple broken legs and other serious injuries was put down in South Salem. Police said it appeared to have been struck by a car. The Wolf Conservation Center was contacted to collect the carcass. 

Thursday, Dec. 18

8:05 a.m. — Police assisted another agency looking for a white BMW SUV believed to be in the Peach Lake vicinity; it is believed this vehicle struck a police patrol car. A citizen stepped forward to say he’d given the driver a ride to Dunkin’ Donuts after the man said his vehicle broke down. A Lewisboro sergeant and New York State Police located the man and took him into custody. He turned him over to the agency looking for him without incident. 

Friday, Dec. 19

7:27 a.m. — A Cross River man was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps after slipping on wet, icy grass and injuring his knee. 

11:20 a.m. — A South Salem resident spoke to police after he was contacted by a real estate agent who said his home was for sale when it wasn’t. The agent told the reporting party he’d been contacted by the man’s mother which also never happened. The reporting party told police an unknown party was impersonating his mom. The reporting party demanded the broker remove the listing and said he would be in touch with the town assessor to determine if other information regarding his mother had been compromised. 

Saturday, Dec. 20

3:52 p.m. — A South Salem resident complained about what they described as an aggressive dog that lives on Gilbert Street. Police spoke to the owner who said she has an electric fence that contains the dog and that it is always walked on a leash when off property. She said her dog does bark at the complainant’s dog. No further action was taken. 

7:00 p.m. — A Katonah man, 81, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps for COVID-19 symptoms. 

Sunday, Dec. 21

8:45 a.m. — Police went to a Goldens Bridge home on a report that a man threw a vacuum cleaner at his mother after she complained about how he was caring for his child. She told police he also threw a bucket and a mop. She said she was not struck by any of these objects and wasn’t injured; she no longer wanted him in her house. He was given a courtesy ride to another location and a New York state domestic incident report was completed. 

Monday, Dec. 22

7:20 p.m. — Parking summonses were issued on Park Road, Goldens Bridge, to a vehicle reported illegally parked near Wild Oaks condos where signage is posted advising no parking here. Police said the operator was a frequent violator and has been issued summonses in the past. 

Wednesday, Dec. 24

10:58 a.m. — A Waccabuc man, 20, who has medical issues and recently had surgery was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by medical personnel after experiencing a seizure. 

4:35 p.m. — A man was taken from his home in South Salem to Norwalk Hospital after experiencing difficulty breathing.

5:45 p.m. — Police went to Four Winds Hospital to explain to a man who wanted to remove his son from the facility that there was a doctor-ordered extended involuntary hold on him. The father asked what would happen if he just walked his son out and was unhappy with the officer’s response. He reluctantly accepted the situation and said he would seek legal remedy. 

Thursday, Dec. 25

8:48 p.m. — A burglar alarm was activated at a home in Waccabuc. Police went to the residence and said all was secure and there was no sign of trouble. 

Friday, Dec. 26

6:27 p.m. — Police found a stranded vehicle caught in heavy snow on Route 25 in the vicinity of Old Shop Road; the driver couldn’t make it up the hill because their tire tread was insufficient. A tow was called and the vehicle was rescued and detoured around the hill. The driver was on their way to Maryland with their spouse and children. 

8:15 p.m. — A car was caught in heavy snow on Kitchawan Road, South Salem. The driver said they were unable to drive in snow. A tow was summoned. 

8:55 p.m. — A New York City couple hoping to reach their hotel in Danbury, Conn., were assisted by police after they became afraid to drive their Honda CRV in heavy snow on Waccabuc Road, Goldens Bridge. Police escorted them to the ACME Markets parking lot and advised them to stay there until the roads were cleared and they felt safe to drive. 

Saturday, Dec. 27

11:10 a.m. — A Goldens Bridge couple informed police about a tent they saw set up in the woods behind their home behind ACME Markets. The tent was gone when police arrived but the caller said he’d seen empty whiskey bottles. Workers nearby told police about a one-armed man who often slept there. Police went to the man’s parents home where he is known to do laundry. No one responded to their knock. Police are following up. 

Sunday, Dec. 28

11:45 p.m. — A caller on Upper Lake Shore Drive reported someone might have entered her garage. Police went to the location and searched the house but saw nothing irregular. 


MOUNT KISCO

Thursday, Dec. 17

6:01 p.m. — A patron of a health club on North Bedford Road reported that his gym bag and personal property were stolen from a locker. The man said the bag contained $800 worth of property, including clothing, a Louis Vuitton wallet and key fob. The victim was advised to cancel his credit cards. Gym staff were unable to immediately access security video. The matter was turned over to detectives for investigation.

Friday, Dec. 18

1:50 p.m. — Officers responded to Woodland Street on a report of a domestic dispute. After an investigation, a 34-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault, a felony. He is accused of grabbing a woman by the face and causing scratches to her face and neck. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared and lethality screening was conducted. The man was arraigned and released pending a Jan. 8 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court. A temporary order of protection was issued barring him from contacting the victim.

Sunday, Dec. 21

2:56 a.m. — A 49-year-old Moore Avenue man was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after a traffic stop on Gregory Avenue. His vehicle was stopped after a patrol sergeant observed it driving without headlights and going through a red light on Main Street. After failing a field sobriety test, the man was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Jan. 8 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court. He was also issued a summons for the red-light violation and for having an open can of beer in his vehicle.

4:31 p.m. — An officer responded to a gas station on the 500 block of Main Street after a delivery truck struck one of the gas pumps. No spill was evident and no one was injured. The Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to assess the pump’s safety.

6:49 p.m. — Officers responded to Maple Avenue on a report of two men in a fight at a residence. Officers separated the men and requested EMS to respond for a man with a bloody nose. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took the injured man to the hospital. Neither party involved in the fight wanted to press charges.

Monday, Dec. 22

6:01 a.m. — An officer assisted a man who was injured in a fall at Spring Street and Moore Avenue. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took him to a hospital.

8:04 a.m. — A man arrived at the Green Street precinct to turn in a purse he found at the Mount Kisco train station. The owner of the purse was notified to come and pick it up at her convenience.

9:03 p.m. — An officer was requested to respond to Spencer Street to check on the welfare of a dog who was barking outside his home in the cold. The dog had been brought inside its house upon arrival.

Tuesday, Dec. 23

12:07 a.m. — Report received of a man sleeping on the sidewalk on Lexington Avenue. A responding officer was advised that a family member had taken the man to his home nearby.

11:10 a.m. — A possible unoccupied homeless encampment was discovered off Hubbels Drive. The village will remove the property found there.

11:47 a.m. — Report of a truck having taken down wires on Highland Avenue and left the scene. Wires found to be completely severed. Con Edison was notified.

5:11 p.m. — An intoxicated man was reported to have fallen on Highland Avenue. The responding officer requested EMS to evaluate the man for injury.

6:34 p.m. — An officer responded to Target on North Bedford Road on a complaint from store security. A 45-year-old woman was detained by security and accused of trying to leave the store with $45 worth of merchandise she had not paid for. She was booked at the Green Street precinct on a petty larceny charge and released pending a Jan. 8 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
