BEDFORD
Running car stolen from driveway
On Wednesday, June 3, a Bedford resident reported their Range Rover stolen from their driveway where it was briefly left running with the keys inside at 4:40 p.m. From inside their home, they observed an unknown party jump into the car and drive away. The owner provided police with video of the theft and the vehicle was tracked via airtag where it was located in Connecticut. Police in that jurisdiction were noatified. They found the vehicle and it was recovered by Bedford Police and the owner notified. Police are investigating.
Monday, June 1
3:54 p.m. — A loose dog reported on Haines Road, Bedford Hills, was successfully herded back onto its own property by the dog control officer who observed it entering the home through a slightly open door.
7:25 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills after a request was made by the resident’s daughter to view the home, which the daughter said was cluttered to hazardous levels. On arrival they spoke with the caller but not the mother. It was suggested she contact adult protective services and possibly the Building Department.
7:46 p.m. — Police responding to a 911 call from a multi-dwelling residence in a residential compound in Bedford Hills spoke to a woman who said she was the only resident on that floor of the building and did not call 911. Police searched the building but found nothing amiss.
11:44 p.m. — A caller on Allison Road, Katonah, reported a suspicious vehicle. Police said it was a New York State Trooper working in the area.
Tuesday, June 2
11:59 a.m. — A Bedford Hills woman, 74, reported fraud after she lost or misplaced her debit card and received a call shortly after from someone she thought was from her bank. She provided her log-in and other critical information before realizing it wasn’t her bank. She hung up and called her bank and was able to stop any transactions from going forward. She was provided with an identity theft checklist. A report was made for documentation.
2:47 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to report a check he mailed to his utility company was stolen, washed and altered to a much larger number and cashed by an unknown party. He reported the fraud to his bank who opened an investigation and said he would be reimbursed.
Wednesday, June 3
10:59 a.m. — Adult protective services requested an officer check on the welfare of a Katonah resident, 68. At her door the woman told police she thought calls she’d been receiving from the agency were spam. She was fine and not in need of assistance.
8:37 p.m. — Two women in the commuter lot at the Katonah train station reported that two men in a dark-colored truck waved at them and might have displayed a pistol. No words were exchanged. The reporting parties were unable to provide specific information about the vehicle. Police searched the area with no results.
9:32 p.m. — With the assistance of a neighbor who provided a shovel, police removed a dead raccoon from the roadway in the vicinity of Bedford Center Road and Springhurst Road. The highway department was notified for pick up.
Thursday, June 4
4:03 p.m. — A Bedford woman reported wire fraud after receiving what she believed was a genuine email from an organization where she is both the secretary and a board member. She was asked to assist with a transaction and send a wire transfer. At some point after she completed the transfer she suspected the request was fraudulent. Two banks are involved. A police report was made for documentation.
4:51 p.m. — Katonah firefighters responded to a fire alarm at a residence on Harris Road, Katonah. On arrival the issue turned out to be a faulty sewage pump sensor. There was no fire.
Friday, June 5
12:32 p.m. — A Bedford man reported a fraudulent phone account was opened in his name. He received an invoice in January with charges. A police report was completed for him to provide the phone provider.
9:20 p.m. — A man reported stumbling on the sidewalk in the vicinity of Woodland Road and Bedford Road in Bedford Hills was not located by police.
Saturday, June 6
4:26 p.m. — A Katonah boy, 13, was injured along with his passenger, a 13-year-old boy from Mount Kisco, after losing control of the ATV he was operating on Maple Avenue, causing it to roll over and off the roadway. Both were taken to Westchester Medical Center by the ambulance, one for bleeding around the head, the other for contusions and bruises to his leg. The ATV was taken to Bedford Mowers, police said.
3:09 p.m. — A man, 24, from Manhattan, was aided at a Katonah home after what was thought to be an allergic reaction to shellfish. Medics on scene said he was having an anxiety attack and not an allergic reaction. The man declined further assistance.
Sunday, June 7
1:16 p.m. — A tree on wires that were smoking brought Bedford Police and firefighters to the Bedford Memorial Park. The area was taped off and the utility contacted.
1:36 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to report an unknown party had fraudulently transferred his phone number to an unknown account in Brooklyn. He also lost service to his phone. His bank contacted him to say someone was trying to access his account. He took proactive measures to protect his security and said he is not at financial loss and was working with the phone company. A report was made for documentation.
8:33 p.m. — Gunshots or fireworks reported on Babbitt Road were not located.
Police correct May 7 report
Bedford police issued a statement regarding an item in the May 7 police reports.
“After further investigation, it was determined there is no connection between Bedford 2030 or Green Power Associates and the reported suspicious male soliciting door to door within town,” it read. “Although we were not able to positively identify the suspicious person in question, we are able to conclude that any prior reference of Bedford 2030 or Green Power Associates involvement was a miscommunication and not accurate.”
The department asks that people “report solicitation activity at the time of occurrence so that we can properly identify the parties involved and ensure proper permitting and lawful purpose.”
LEWISBORO
Horses tell black bear cub to hoof it
On Thursday, June 4, at approximately 8 p.m., a bear was reported attacking horses. On police arrival they saw a young bear in a paddock who ran towards the horses but the horses drove it in the opposite direction. This happened multiple times before the bear exited the enclosure. The owner was advised to not put herself in danger but said she preferred to stay with the horses. A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation officer was said to be on the way and police left the area.
Monday, June 1
9:30 a.m. — An officer in a marked patrol vehicle on Increase Miller Road observed a gray Honda with New York plates also traveling south, turning westbound onto Todd Road directly in front of the officer’s vehicle. A license plate check showed the operator’s license was suspended. Emergency lights were activated and a pullover conducted. An appearance ticket was issued along with a summons. The car was towed to impound.
Tuesday, June 2
9:40 a.m. — A woman came to headquarters to report her identity had been stolen and used in a scam. She told police she received an email in late May including a photo of her the scammers had stolen and reproduced from her work website. Police are requesting more information.
12:18 p.m. — The operator of a blue Nissan who failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of West Land and Stonewall Court was stopped by police who observed the operator was not wearing a seat belt. The operator produced a foreign identity card but no driver’s license. Multiple summonses were issued and the car towed.
6:20 p.m. — A partially paralyzed and erratically acting raccoon believed rabid was dispatched by police after a Colonel Ferris Road resident reported it in their yard. The homeowner said they would dispose of the carcass.
Wednesday, June 3
11:30 a.m. — A resident came to headquarters to report his credit card was used to fraudulently purchase multiple MacBook and Apple products as well as a Nintendo Switch. The estimated value of the fraudulently purchased items is over $12,000. Some of the items were shipped to an unknown address; others were picked up curbside at a Best Buy location in North Palm Beach, Florida. The complainant’s bank froze his credit. Police are following up.
4:50 p.m. — A Goldens Bridge man reported that his wife saw a bear in their garbage can in their driveway. As he was pulling into the driveway anyway, he made noise to scare the bear off.
Thursday, June 4
10:30 a.m. — Police went to a South Salem home where a female was reported with a partially blocked airway. On arrival, she said she was fine and had a pill stuck in her throat but swallowed it. Firefighters arrived on scene but no help was needed.
11:40 a.m. — Police assisted a woman retrieving belongings from her former residence in South Salem. An order of protection is in place stipulating police be present. The couple are divorcing.
1:15 p.m. — One driver was transported to Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut by Vista ambulance following a two-car collision on Route 123 in the vicinity of Spring Hill Lane in South Salem. Abdominal and pelvic pain were reported. One car was towed. The other drove away.
2:00 p.m. — A caller on Smith Ridge Road reported someone was looking in their windows. Police responding spoke to a resident who said there was no problem.
3:45 p.m. — Police visited a residence in Goldens Bridge after being contacted by a California police department about a resident who claimed she would shoot a neighbor. They were met by the woman’s daughter who said she lives with her mother who is experiencing a deterioration of her mental health. The mother did not appear to be a threat to herself or anyone else.
7:00 p.m. — A man turned himself in at headquarters after his girlfriend told police he insulted her and physically and verbally abused her as they were on their way to a bar to watch the Knicks game. He was issued a full stay away order and was scheduled to appear in court June 8.
Friday, June 5
6:13 p.m. — Police went to Four Winds Hospital after a family member requested information via email through the county dispatch if a particular individual was still a patient. They spoke with a nurse supervisor who confirmed that was the case.
Saturday, June 6
9:06 p.m. — A Volkswagen Passat stuck in a drainage ditch on Route 123 was removed by tow with no damage to the vehicle. The operator said they weren’t injured.
9:44 p.m. — A small electrical fire at a home in South Salem was extinguished by Vista firefighters.
Sunday, June 7
6:00 p.m. — Larceny was reported at a home in South Salem. At the time of the report, no details were provided.
POUND RIDGE
Tuesday, June 2
5:50 a.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps from her home on Salem Road. No further information was provided.
10:20 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for using an electronic device.
12:40 p.m. — A driver on Salem Road was given a ticket for driving while using their cellphone.
302 p.m. — A woman was by ambulance from her home to Stamford Hospital in Connecticut. No further information was provided.
3 :40 p.m. — A vehicle reported as suspicious on Lower Trinity Pass Road had already crossed into Stamford, Conn., before police could further investigate.
Wednesday, June 3
7:51 a.m. — A two-car collision on Route 137 resulted in no injuries and no tow.
1:00 p.m. — A solicitor going door to door was reported as suspicious on West Lane. The individual in question was gone prior to police arrival.
Thursday, June 4
3:40 a.m. — Police looked for a disabled vehicle on Calf Pasture Lane without result.
9:45 a.m. — Police received a complaint of people parking on Westchester Avenue in the handicapped spots when they shouldn’t. No cars were parked illegally at the time of the complaint.
10:00 a.m. — A radar patrol on Salem Road resulted in two speeders ticketed for doing 50 mph in 30-mph zones.
12:15 p.m. — Police went to an address on Gorge Lane for a complaint about gas-powered leaf blowers. None were found in use.
1:30 p.m. — People parking in the handicapped spot were reported on Westchester Avenue. No violators were observed.
2:55 p.m. — Gas leaf blowers were reported in violation of local ordinance at an address on Old Stone Hill Road. None were located.
4:00 p.m. — No gas leaf blowers were found in use after a complaint from Pheasant Road West.
Friday, June 5
11:45 a.m. — A Pound Ridge woman was arrested after she was pulled over on Westchester Avenue during a traffic safety patrol; police observed her using her cellphone while driving. A check of her license showed it was suspended for an insurance lapse. Her registration was also suspended. She is to appear in court June 29.
1:20 p.m. — A solicitor reported going door to door on Old Stone Hill Road was advised by police they required a permit from the town to continue.
6:06 p.m. — A man was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.
6:41 p.m. — Police looked for a person reported soliciting on White Birch Road without result.
Saturday, June 6
6:40 a.m. — A driver on High Ridge Road was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.
8:13 a.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.
9:55 a.m. — A summons was given to someone who illegally parked in a handicapped parking spot on Westchester Avenue.
10:43 a.m. — Police looked for a person reported soliciting on White Birch Lane without result.
12:35 a.m. —A White Plains man was arrested on Pound Ridge Road for driving without a license and having no current vehicle registration. He is to appear in court June 22.
Sunday, June 7
12:34 p.m. — Trees were reported down and blocking the road on Lower Shad Road. Multiple trees were reported down,causing hazardous road conditions in the area throughout the morning.
3:10 p.m. — A one-car crash on Fancher Road resulted in property damage but no injuries and no tow.
MOUNT KISCO
Friday, May 29
1:51 p.m. — An officer on patrol in the 600 block of East Main Street observed a man holding a can of beer behind a gas station. After verifying that the beer was open and some had been consumed, the officer issued the man a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. It is returnable to village court on June 25.
2:17 p.m. — An officer on patrol at Lexington Avenue and Main Street observed two men sitting in a wooded area, one of them holding a can of beer. That man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. It is returnable to village court on June 25.
5:33 p.m. — Officers responded to South Moger Avenue on a report of a fight in progress involving a group of youths. An 18-year-old was taken into custody inside Starbucks where he was observed fighting with another youth that he had chased into the store. The 18-year-old was charged with disorderly conduct, a violation. The victim declined to press any charges connected with the fight. After subsequent investigation, it was determined that another youth had been assaulted outside by a teen swinging a Razor scooter at him. The suspect in that incident, 17, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree menacing. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released with his mother’s permission to a family friend. The youth’s case was referred to Westchester Family Court due to his age.
9:11 p.m. — A noise complaint was received regarding loud music from a house party on Grove Street. Condition corrected.
Saturday, May 30
2:22 a.m. — Officers responded to the 300 block of Lexington Avenue to help a man in an emotional crisis. EMS was requested by responding officers. The Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the man to the hospital for evaluation.
5:38 a.m. — Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a father and son at an East Hyatt Avenue residence. The dispute was verbal in nature only. The son left the residence to defuse the situation. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
9:36 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a man behaving erratically inside T.J. Maxx on East Main Street.
11:33 a.m. — Officers responded to ShopRite on North Bedford Road on a report of two small children left unattended in a parked car in the supermarket’s lot. Upon arrival, officers saw that the children’s mother had returned to the vehicle and was beginning to drive away. She was detained for investigation. The woman told the officers she needed to use the bathroom and was inside the store for only five minutes, though store personnel said it was longer. She was advised of the dangers associated with leaving a 1- and 3-year-old in a locked car. Child protective services was advised of the incident. A case worker said the agency would follow up with the family. The woman was issued a summons for having her youngest child in a forward-facing car seat rather than in a rear-facing seat. Officers reinstalled the car seat to have it comply with state law.
Sunday, May 31
9:17 a.m. — A business in Kirby Plaza reported that a break-in had occurred overnight. A window was broken to gain entry and some cash was taken from the register. Security video showed a person breaking the window and climbing inside at 3:55 a.m. The matter was turned over to detectives for continued investigation.
3:55 p.m. — A man arrived at the Green Street precinct to report that he was the victim of fraud. He said that he sent $7,000 to a person he thought was an attorney, but now has determined he was scammed. A report was prepared and detectives continued the investigation.
4:11 p.m. — Officers responded to St. Mark’s Place on a report of a domestic dispute between a mother and adult daughter. The mother said she was menaced with a frying pan during the incident but she did not wish to pursue charges. Due to the presence of a minor during the incident, child protective services was notified and opened an investigation. Both parties separated and made plans to stay elsewhere for the night. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
8:11 p.m. — A Sands Street resident man reported that the rear of his car was damaged by a hit-and-run driver. The damage occurred sometime after 1 p.m. An officer canvassed the block for security video that might have captured the incident but none was located.
Tuesday, June 2
3:04 a.m. — An intoxicated man was found in the Blackeby parking lot. EMS was requested. The man was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
6:28 a.m. — A woman came to the Green Street precinct to turn in a wallet she found in the Blackeby parking lot. The wallet belonged to the man that was brought to the hospital several hours earlier. An officer brought the wallet to the hospital to return it to him.
10:15 a.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a man seeking to file a fraud complaint. The man reported that someone had opened a credit card account using his name and social security number. He was able to cancel the card before any purchases were made. He requested a report be prepared for documentation.
Wednesday, June 3
8:56 a.m. — A Spring Street woman reported that a man had walked into her residence about 11 p.m. last night. The man did not say anything and left. The woman said she wanted to document the incident. She was advised to call the police immediately if the man returns.
10:44 a.m. — A man arrived at the Green Street precinct reporting that he had received a threatening text message earlier that morning. An investigation is continuing.
5:02 p.m. A woman reported at the Green Street precinct that she was the victim of a domestic assault on May 30. The woman stated that she was punched and choked by the father of her child during an argument over custody. She did not report the incident initially but now wants to press criminal charges. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared and lethality screening conducted. An officer connected the victim with a member of the High-Risk Domestic Violence Team at Westchester Medical Center for ongoing assistance and support. A 50-year-old man was charged with third-degree assault and harassment on June 5 in connection with this incident.
10:38 p.m. — Officers responded to Parkview Place on a report of a domestic dispute in progress between two men. One of the men was found to be intoxicated and in an emotional state. EMS was requested and the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the man to the hospital. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
11:29 p.m. — Officers responded to North Moger Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute and criminal mischief. A resident reported that he had argued with his girlfriend, who then keyed his car before driving off. The man declined to press charges but said he wanted to document the incident. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
