Three county officers injured in car chase
MOUNT KISCO
A 26-year-old Bronx man is facing numerous charges after, police said, he led officers on a car chase on April 29, struck two police vehicles and injured three officers.
Westchester County Police said they pulled a motorist over for a traffic violation on Main Street, Mount Kisco, and that he then fled at a high rate of speed and entered the southbound Saw Mill River Parkway.
The vehicle was intercepted by other county police officers at Marble Avenue, Thornwood, where the suspect vehicle collided with an unmarked car and then struck two other police vehicles.
Three officers suffered minor injuries.
The man was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and second-degree criminal mischief. He also was issued multiple summonses for vehicle and traffic law violations. He was booked at police headquarters in Hawthorne and held overnight for arraignment.
Sunday, April 26
11:02 a.m. — Welfare check requested for a man sleeping adjacent to Lexington Avenue and East Main Street. The man, who was not intoxicated or in need of medical assistance, was advised he could not sleep there and he left the area.
1:01 p.m. — A property-damage motor vehicle accident occurred in the 400 block of Main Street. A report was prepared.
3:56 p.m. — Officers responded to Spring Street on a report of a youth in crisis who may have run away from home. The teen was present when officers arrived. EMS and the Mobile Crisis Response Team requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and determined no additional medical attention was required. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
4:03 p.m. — Police received a report of an apparently intoxicated man lying on the sidewalk on Main Street near North Moger Avenue. The responding officer requested an ambulance to take the man to a hospital for evaluation.
7:09 p.m. — A motorist driving on Woodland Street saw white smoke coming from a residence. An officer and Mount Kisco Fire Department responded. It was determined there was no fire.
8:17 p.m. — Officers responded to Amuso Drive on a report of a disturbance in a parking lot. The parties to a dispute there were not cooperative with officers but it was determined the dispute was verbal in nature only. A Sullivan County woman involved in the dispute was given a courtesy transport to the train station to separate the parties and defuse the situation.
9:30 p.m. — Officers responded to Highland Avenue after a report of a verbal dispute at his home a short time earlier. The man told officers that another person known to him had come to his residence due to previous issues between their two families. He requested a police report be prepared because he plans to seek an order of protection barring the other party from having any contact. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
Monday, April 27
12:28 a.m. — An officer on patrol observed an apparently intoxicated man in the 200 block of Main Street. The man did not require medical attention but the officer drove him home to Moore Avenue to ensure his safe arrival there.
2:15 a.m. — An officer responded to the 200 block of Lexington Avenue on a report of a man feeling dizzy and nauseous. Westchester EMS also responded and took the man to the hospital.
6:05, 6:29 and 7:18 a.m. — Officers responded to three separate burglar alarm activations on West Hyatt Avenue, North Bedford Road and the 100 block of Main Street. All were due to employee error.
8:22 a.m. — A welfare check was requested at a gas station on North Bedford Road after a customer found the door to the convenience store locked but observed the lights were on inside. A responding officer was able to locate an employee who reported that the store’s computer system was down and he locked the doors because he could not serve customers.
11:30 a.m. — The owner of a business on Lexington Avenue reported an apparent overnight break-in. A rear door to the business was found to be damaged upon her arrival. The damage was estimated at $800, and $50 was taken from a register. Officers and a detective were making arrangements to obtain security video from neighboring properties. The investigation is continuing.
2:14 p.m. — A woman called to request a welfare check on a relative staying at Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way. Officers spoke with the hotel guest who said she was depressed over a recent break-up but had no intentions of harming herself. She declined any medical or mental health assistance. A friend was present with her when officers left the hotel.
5:23 p.m. — An officer responded to Kirby Plaza to assist a 63-year-old man who fell and struck his head. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took him to the hospital.
9:24 p.m. — Officers responded to an activated motion-sensor alarm at a business on North Bedford Road. A person observed inside the premises was determined to be an employee who was working after hours and triggered the system in error.
Tuesday, April 28
12:43 a.m. — An officer responded to a noise complaint involving a barking dog on West Street. A summons was issued.
5:40 a.m. — A Hillside Avenue reported that someone entered her unlocked garage and rummaged around in her vehicle overnight. A $50 Visa gift card was taken. The investigation is continuing.
8:30 a.m. — An officer responded to Diplomat Drive to assist a man having heart palpitations. EMS was requested.
2 p.m. — An officer was dispatched back to the Green Street precinct to meet the parents of a youth who wanted to report concerning text messages and a photo their son received. A report was prepared and the matter turned over to the Bedford Police Department’s school resource officer at Fox Lane High and Middle schools for continued investigation.
12:15 p.m. — A business on Lexington Avenue reported that an employee had taken $1,600 from the cashier register the previous day. During investigation by patrol officers and a detective, it was determined that the employee had wired those funds to Mexico later the same day. The 29-year-old woman was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and booked at the Green Street precinct. She was released pending a May 7 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
3:27 p.m. — A domestic dispute was reported involving two people in a car parked in Kirby Plaza. The vehicle left as an officer responded and was located on South Moger Avenue. The incident was determined to be a verbal dispute only.
5:34 p.m. — An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue observed a man near Sarles Avenue who had outstanding arrest warrants issued earlier that day by Mount Kisco Justice Court. The 20-year-old man resisted officers as he was taken into custody. He was booked at the Green Street precinct on a new charge of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and on the arrest warrants charging him with two counts of petit larceny and one count of resisting arrest, misdemeanors, and trespass, a violation. Bail was set at $10,000 at arraignment and he was sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of bail. He is due back in village court April 30.
8:30 p.m. — Officers responded to Gatto Drive on a report of a violent domestic dispute in progress. Police said an intoxicated 20-year-old man, who caused damage inside the residence and struck a relative before police arrived, was combative with officers as they took him into custody. During a struggle, he punched one officer in the face and spit in the face of another, police said. Once in custody, he was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for a mental health evaluation with an officer riding with the crew to ensure their safety. After release from the hospital, the man was brought back to the Green Street precinct where he was booked on charges of second-degree assault and third-degree assault, felonies, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. He was held overnight for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

11:10 a.m. — Officers responded to an activated burglar alarm at a business on Lexington Avenue. It was an employee error.
12:02 p.m. — An officer responded to North Bedford Road on a report of a male having a seizure. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
12:12 p.m. — A business owner on Lexington Avenue reported that a vehicle has been parked in its lot for several days. An officer explained that a summons could not be issued because the vehicle was on private property, however the business could legally arrange for the car to be towed. The officer was also able to contact the registered owner and advise him that the property owner wanted the vehicle removed.
1:16 p.m. — An officer responded to Parkview Place after a 911 hang-up call was received from a residence there. There was no emergency.
LEWISBORO
Tuesday, April 28
7:00 a.m. — Two cars collided on Route 138 when one turned left onto Old Bedford Road and encountered another traveling in the opposite direction coming towards it. The second car swerved slightly into the oncoming lane and struck the first car’s mirror, damaging it, and kept going. A report was made.
7:35 a.m. — A driver traveling westbound on Route 35 encountered another driver attempting to enter the turning lane to turn onto Cherry Street, Katonah. One car stopped short, causing the second car to hit it. No injuries were reported.
11:50 a.m. — Police went to a home on Park Road, Goldens Bridge, in response to an ongoing neighbor dispute largely caused by an easement between their properties. There have been accusations of trespass and wrongful parking. One party accused the other of being “mentally ill.” Police asked both parties if they can avoid contact.
Wednesday, April 29
10:30 a.m. — A female patient who left Four Winds Hospital without permission was reported heading for Route 35. Police found her sitting on the grass while still on hospital property. She agreed to return to her unit.
4:01 p.m. — A driver who failed to stop for a stop sign on Route 22 and North Street crashed into another car making a left-hand turn. One person was taken to Westchester Medical Center for whiplash and a bloody forehead. Both cars were towed.
6:45 p.m. — Police went to a home on Route 35, South Salem, to check on a man whose son called and requested a welfare check as he hadn’t heard from his dad.
Thursday, April 30
8:00 a.m. — A teen was taken from her South Salem home to Westchester Medical Center by Vista EMS for seizures.
8:30 a.m. — A Goldens Bridge man reported that his identity was stolen and used to open a credit card account, a bank account and a retail account. He contacted his banking and credit institutions regarding the theft and a report was made for documentation.
1:00 p.m. — The owner of a property being developed on West Road, South Salem, reported that a man was caught on camera using the portable toilet. The reporting party was advised to call the police if anything is stolen.
Friday, May 1
10:15 a.m. — A black bear was reported in the vicinity of Manor Drive, South Salem. Police looked for it without result. They noted that the area is heavily forested and a natural habitat for bears and it wouldn’t be unusual to see one.
17:35 p.m. — A man suffering from hypertension was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital from his home in Goldens Bridge by Westchester EMS.
Saturday, May 2
9:50 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem to check on a man at the request of his ex-wife who said they’re not on speaking terms. The man was home and said he was fine.
3:37 p.m. — Two police officers assisted South Salem firefighters with a lawnmower fire in a yard in South Salem; the fire was extinguished. A Westchester County hazmat team arrived to safely remove the lithium ion batteries.
5:18 a.m. — A mother and son argued at their home in South Salem. The son told police he left the residence to defuse the situation. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital in the company of an officer after being evaluated by Vista EMS for mental health issues.
Sunday, May 3
2:08 p.m. — A young dead fox that appeared to have been struck by a car was reported on the front walkway of a South Salem residence. The homeowner said a family of foxes lives nearby. Police bagged the body and disposed of it.
3:00 p.m. — A man dropping his son off at a lacrosse tournament at Onatru Farm Park told police he was harassed by a parking attendant who he said pounded on his windshield and removed his shirt. Police spoke to the event organizer who was already aware of the incident and said the attendant had left. The attendant was interviewed on the phone by police; he said there was a verbal incident and he stepped in front of the complainant’s vehicle and removed his reflective vest, but not his shirt. He said the complainant repeatedly gave him “the finger.” The complainant was advised of this conversation and no further action was taken.
6:00 p.m. — A Katonah woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by a police officer after her mother told the police her daughter needed to go to rehab for a drug problem. On police arrival the daughter was with friends who were encouraging her to seek treatment. The mother said the day before her daughter stole jewelry from her but that she wouldn’t pursue charges if her daughter agreed to rehab.
10:18 p.m. — Police went to a home in Waccabuc after a large black bear was reported on the property. Police unsuccessfully attempted to scare off the bear who was attracted to the birdfeeder; they observed it consuming the birdseed it dumped on the ground before fleeing into a wooded area. The homeowner was assisted in removing the birdfeeder to avoid further temptation.
BEDFORD
Officer revives golf club employee
On Wednesday, April 29, at 6:37 p.m., an employee at the GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills was taken to Westchester Medical Center by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps after experiencing a medical emergency while operating a golf cart. He was reported not breathing or responding to stimuli. A police officer arriving first on scene administered chest compressions and the man regained consciousness. He was given oxygen and medics arrived. Bedford firefighters were also on scene.
Monday April 27
10:18 a.m. — A Somers man, 74, was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for a laceration to the back of his head after feeling dizzy and falling at a medical building in Katonah.
11:50 a.m. — A man reported standing beside a red sedan with his pants down at the intersection of Old Post Road and Stone Hill Road, Bedford, was gone on police arrival.
9:22 p.m. — A Bedford woman seeking full custody of her children reported that her husband, whom she is divorcing, sent nude photos of her to family court in an attempt to damage her reputation. She said the photos are old and that he likely accessed them through a hijacked online cloud account. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
Tuesday April 28
10:29 a.m. — A caller in Bedford Hills reported that her dog brought three dead mice and a dead squirrel to her doorstep. She believes the dog retrieved them from a “suspicious incident.” A report was made for documentation.
11:46 a.m. — A road rage incident was reported between a town of Bedford employee and a Bedford Hills woman who the employee said tailgated him and then finally sped past, crossing the double yellow line. At an intersection she got out of her car and slapped his vehicle with the heel of her hand, resulting in a dent, the worker told police. Police contacted the woman and after a great deal of discourse, she agreed to a restitution payment plan for the dent.
Wednesday, April 29
12:51 p.m. — A Bedford resident reported a FedEx package they expected to be delivered was missing. He requested a police report for documentation.
Thursday, April 30
1:02 p.m. — Police went to Fellowship Hall in Bedford Hills after a Meals on Wheels volunteer reported a client seemed unwell. The man in question said a wound on his forehead caused days before from a fall was ugly but healing. He adamantly said he didn’t want their help.
8:45 p.m. — A Bedford Hills woman experiencing a stroke was taken by ambulance to the Westchester Medical Center.
Friday, May 1
10:12 a.m. — A male dressed in winter clothing and carrying a backpack was reported suspicious walking on Croton Lake Road and Wood Road, Katonah. Police located him and said he was argumentative but not doing anything illegal. He was left to continue on his way to an unspecified destination.
12:43 p.m. — Police went to a residence on Harris Road, Bedford, for a report of a possibly injured coyote on someone’s lawn. The resident described a small coyote, no longer on the property, who had a slight interaction with his dog although there was no contact and the coyote didn’t appear sick. Police told him to call back if it returned and appeared problematic.
Saturday. May 2
9:22 a.m. — The CVS in Bedford Hills reported a man two days earlier stealing lipsticks from the store. An employee noticed on Saturday many were missing, prompting a review of surveillance video showing a man in the store for about 15 minutes before stealing the cosmetics who then swiftly left in a gray sedan. Police said detectives are investigating.
11:38 a.m. — A Katonah woman reported fraud after a check she wrote to their electrician was altered and made payable to somebody else was intercepted by her bank. She received a call from the bank’s fraud department who advised her the money was never deducted from her account. The reporting party said she had placed the check in the mailbox outside the Katonah post office.
11:26 p.m. — A boisterous party was shut down at a residence in Bedford Hills after a caller reported noise. Two officers met with the homeowner who agreed the festivities were over. Police stayed on scene until all the partygoers safely vacated the premises.
Sunday, May 3
6:58 p.m. — A Greenwich, Conn., man requested documentation of a fraud incident where a vehicle was illegally purchased from a Bedford Hills dealership using his business name. He said he made a similar report with White Plains Police and was provided with documentation.
9:40 p.m. — An electrical fire reported at the main house on an estate in Bedford was no longer burning when police arrived. Bedford firefighters extinguished it and said it was an outlet extender that caught fire. No injuries were reported or damage to the residence.

Tuesday, April 28
9:20 a.m. — A suspicious incident was reported on Brook Farm Road East. No further information was provided.
12:10 p.m. — A driver whose windows were deeply tinted was given a summons on Westchester Avenue.
12:37 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.
3:05 p.m. — Police responding to a report of downed wires on Hack Green Road moved the wires to free up traffic. Two utilities were notified.
4:45 p.m. — A driver on Salem Road was given four summonses starting with failure to obey a traffic device.
9:30 p.m. — A welfare check was requested at a residence on Pheasant Road West. No further information was provided.
Wednesday, April 29
6:50 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a summons for having a license plate so dirty or obscured it couldn’t be read.
7:55 a.m. — Two summonses were issued to a driver on High Ridge Road for failure to obey sidewalk markings and following too close.
11:10 a.m. — A Westchester Avenue driver was given a ticket for failure to obey a traffic device.
5:10 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to have an inspection sticker.
5:40 p.m. — Three summonses were given to a driver traveling on Salem Road for no insurance, failure to obey a traffic device, and an invalid driver’s license.
Thursday, April 30
6:27 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued two summons regarding their lack of an inspection sticker.
8:38 p.m. — A caller on Eastwoods Road reported someone trespassing on private property, specifically fishing in their pond. Police said the person was gone prior to their arrival.
Friday, May 1
4:34 a.m. — A driver doing 59 mph in a 30-mph zone on Westchester Avenue was ticketed.
10:45 a.m. — Three summonses were issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for using their phone, loose cargo, and speeding at 54 mph in a 30- mph zone.
Saturday, May 2
1:10 p.m. — Police went to a residence for an activated life alert device, which was activated accidentally.
3:50 p.m. — No one was injured in a one car collision on Trinity Pass Road; police saw the operator struck a stone wall. Only the car was damaged.
9:23 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign.
9:36 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a speeding ticket for driving 60 mph in a 30-mph zone.
Sunday, May 3
9:50 a.m. — No violations were observed during a traffic patrol on Westchester Avenue.
10:00 a.m. — A pair of dogs reported loose on Autumn Ridge Road safely got home.
11:18 a.m. — A raccoon, deceased, apparently struck by a car on Salem Road was removed.
5:00 p.m. — During a radar patrol on Lower Shad Road, no violations were observed.
Monday, May 4
1:00 a.m. — A disabled vehicle parked at a closed service station on Westchester Avenue was assisted by police and able to leave the area.
