David Pogue to talk climate change at Bedford Playhouse

Join David Pogue — CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, seven-time Emmy winner, and author of “How to Prepare for Climate Change” — for a Bedford 2030 Community Climate Conversation at the Bedford Playhouse.

It’s a talk about the bright side of the climate crisis. Pogue will share 10 reasons to feel hopeful — and 10 actions you can take right now to help turn things around in our community. 

The Community Climate Conversation, presented in partnership with Bedford 2030, will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., at the Bedford Playhouse, located at 633 Old Post Road, Bedford. For tickets and more information, visit bedfordplayhouse.org/live-events/.


Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. 

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display. 

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.

Pound Ridge Police Report Oct. 22-27


Tuesday, Oct. 22

5:50 p.m. — A traffic summons was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for vehicular lights that didn’t meet the standard. 

9:05 p.m. — A Laurel Road resident was spoken to by police after a neighbor complained about their dog barking. The dog’s owner said they would bring the dog inside. 


Wednesday, Oct. 23

2:58 a.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance. 

7:05 a.m.— During a traffic detail  on Westchester Avenue, four summonses were issued to drivers; three for speeding (doing 50 mph in a marked 30 mph zone) and one for failure to obey a traffic device. 

12:20 p.m. — A tree branch was reported blocking traffic on Stone Hill Road. An officer found no obstruction. 


Friday, Oct. 25

8:52 a.m. — Reckless driving was reported on Salem Road; police stopped a white truck. The driver was operating a tall furniture moving vehicle and was swerving to avoid tree branches from hitting the truck. Police said there was no problem. 

1:40 p.m. — Two dogs were found on Twin Fawn Lane; police retrieved them from the person who found them and brought them to headquarters where they were reunited with their owner. 

2:05 p.m. — Fire was reported on Shad Road West; on arrival police saw a lawn mower on fire. Pound Ridge firefighters extinguished it. No injuries were reported. 


Saturday, Oct. 26

4:30 p.m. — A brush fire was reported on Old Mill River Road; Pound Ridge firefighters extinguished it. The fire was caused by a downed power line. 

4:35 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance from her home to Northern Westchester Hospital.


Sunday, Oct. 27

8:55 a.m. — Two traffic summonses were issued on Westchester Avenue to an operator who couldn’t show an inspection certificate and for operating a vehicle with an invalid registration. 

11:05 a.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was taken from his home to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance.
