Musicians United for ALS: A Night for Wayne Warnecke

A benefit for ALS United Greater New York — “A Night for Wayne Warnecke” — is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the State University of New York at Purchase, located at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Warnecke is a record producer from Pound Ridge. 

Performers and guests include the Average White Band, the Grammy-nominated Scottish funk and R&B band best known for their instrumental track “Pick up the Pieces,” Patty Smyth, Bernie Williams, Paul Shaffer, the Bacon Brothers, Elza Libhart and Kati Max.

Mayer and Pace Women’s Justice host toiletry drive

State Senator Shelley Mayer is partnering with Pace Women’s Justice Center to sponsor a Toiletry Drive in acknowledgment of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The senator and PWJC request donations of full-size items, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, moisturizers, and feminine hygiene products. The drive continues through April 27.

Drop-off locations include Pound Ridge Town House, 179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge  and Sen. Mayer’s Office, 235 Mamaroneck Ave., Suite 400, White Plains.


Bedford firefighters set open house April 26

The Bedford Fire Department is hosting its annual hands-on Open House on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 550 Old Post Road, Bedford.

Pound Ridge Police Report April 30-May 4

Tuesday, April 29

1:40 a.m. — A deer reported injured on Salem Road was euthanized by a police officer and removed from the roadway. 

2:02 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle straddling the roadway on Brook Farm Road, its alarm system activated. On arrival police saw two legally parked cars causing no issue. The area was checked but nothing appeared out of order. 

8:43 a.m. — Two cars were involved in a collision on Pound Ridge Road. Police say no one was injured and neither vehicle required a tow. 

2:10 p.m. — Police responded to a parking complaint on Westchester Avenue; they saw two cars parked in handicapped spots without authorization. The operators were located and moved their cars.  

3:48 p.m. — An order of protection was given to a Westchester Avenue resident. No further information was provided.  

7:40 p.m. — Police responded to an address on Salem Road for an activated medical alarm. The resident apologized and said it was set off by accident and they required no assistance. 

Wednesday, April 30

9:23 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

2:39 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious man on Westchester Avenue. The caller said they thought he was having a mental health issue. Police searched the area with negative results. 

Thursday, May 1

9:25 a.m. — During a traffic enforcement on Salem Road police issued four summonses to drivers: two were for speeding; one for no inspection; and one for failure to stop at a stop sign. 

Friday, May 2

1:07 a.m. — Police responded to a possible driver needing assistance on West Road. On their arrival they spoke to the operator who said they didn’t need any help.  

Saturday, May 3

12:00 p.m. — A caller on Beech Hill Lane reported a smell of gas coming from their pool house. Pound Ridge firefighters discovered a leak in a propane gas line and turned the line off. The utility was notified. 

Sunday, May 4

4:30 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Stamford Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

7:05 a.m. — A tree was reported blocking the roadway on Twin Fawn Lane. Police taped off the area and the highway department was notified.  

10:29 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for not having a current inspection.

12:21 p.m. — A traffic enforcement detail on Westchester Avenue resulted in police issuing three summonses to drivers: one for no inspection; one for no registration; and one for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

4:43 p.m. — Police responding to a 911 call coming from an address on West Lane spoke to the resident who said there was no problem and had no idea how 911 was called.
