Pound Ridge

Tuesday, Sept. 30

11:46 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for speeding, traveling 53 mph in a 30-mph zone.   

3:20 p.m. —  Police went to High Ridge Road after a neighbor complained about a landscaper violating the ordinance prohibiting gas leaf blowers. No violations were observed.  

5:50 p.m. — A radar enforcement on High Ridge Road yielded four summonses being issued for failure to obey a traffic device.  

6:00 p.m. — Four more summonses were issued to drivers on High Ridge Road for failure to obey a traffic device.  

Wednesday, Oct. 1

8:40 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for using their cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.  

6:38 p.m. — No violators were found on Long Ridge Road after a caller reported gas leaf blowers in use.  

Thursday, Oct. 2

6:10 a.m. — Dogs were reported barking by a caller on Robin Hood Road. Police spoke to the owner of the dogs who said she’d let them out for a potty break and they were joyful. She said she’d bring them in the house.  

8:44 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

10:48 a.m. — Landscapers working on Fancher Road were reported working on a holiday, specifically Yom Kippur. They said they would stop. Similar reports were made at 12:48 p.m. and again at 3:55 p.m. on Kinnicutt and Barnegat roads.  

5:30 p.m. — Police issued seven summonses on Salem Road: five were for failure to obey a traffic signal; one was for a missing license plate and one was for failure to notify the DMV of a change of home address.   

Friday, Oct. 3

7:29 a.m. — Police assisted an elderly man reported appearing disoriented and walking around town. He was brought to headquarters where his daughter arrived to pick him up and take him home.  

7:15 a.m. — Four summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: one for talking on a cellphone; and the others were for speeding. 

9:10 a.m. — Police found no violators after a Hack Green Road caller incorrectly reported a gas leaf blower in use.  

4: 25 p.m. — A caller on Pine Brook Road reported an illegally parked car blocking traffic. On their arrival, police saw no problem.  

Saturday, Oct. 4

11:50 a.m. — A brush fire reported on Waring Road was already being extinguished by Pound Ridge firefighters on police arrival.  

6:46 p.m. — Two parking summonses were issued to poorly parked drivers on Fancher Road. 

Sunday, Oct. 5

12:30 a.m. — A larceny reported on Westchester Avenue was turned over to New York State Police.  

1:46 p.m. — A loose dog reported on Michigan Road was gone on police arrival.  

4:15 p.m. — The highway department was notified to remove a downed tree reported on Lower Shad Road.  

8:17 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for substandard lighting.  

Monday, Oct. 6

1:48 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a speeding ticket.  

Tuesday, Oct. 7

6:20 p.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue; one for no inspection sticker; and the other was for speeding. 

Wednesday, Oct. 8 

10:53 a.m. — A domestic incident was reported on Woodland Road. No details were provided.  

1:40 p.m. — The highway department was notified about a downed tree on Honey Hollow Road.  

Thursday, Oct. 9

3:40 p.m. — Two tickets were issued to drivers on Pound Ridge Road: one for no inspection; and the other for no insurance.  

4:00 p.m. — Police looked for an offending gas leaf blower reported on Fancher Road but couldn’t find it.  

7:45 p.m. —  A poorly parked driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed.


Bedford

Monday, Oct. 6

9:55 a.m. — A husband and wife came to headquarters to report an incident involving their son, a Fox Lane High School student, and a flagger working for a tree company. They said their son’s car was struck on the hood by an irate flagger holding a sign on Main Street, Bedford Hills, as he was on his way to school. Police said the car wasn’t damaged but observed a very small reddish-orange mark. The son continued on to school and reported the incident to the school resource officer. Police spoke to both parties; the son said he was confused by the signage. The flagger said the operator of the car did not obey the stop sign and actually ran over the flagger’s foot but said he wasn’t injured. Police say there was no criminality involved. The boy’s mother was unhappy with the report and was referred to make her complaint to the Westchester County Department of Transportation.  

Tuesday, Oct. 7

10:58 a.m. — Police went to a gas station on Bedford Road, Katonah, for a report of an acrylic odor coming from upstairs. A maintenance worker for the property provided access to two apartments on the second floor. No hazards were observed regarding the odor, but police discovered a nail salon operating upstairs. The building department was notified as well as code enforcement.   

12:01 p.m. — Police went to a business on Railroad Avenue, Bedford Hills, for a report of a disturbance. On arrival they met with four people, three of them employees, who were arguing over a vehicle the fourth person wanted to retrieve. Police were told the person owes money to the business owner; the person thought partial payment was sufficient. The employees disagreed. The fourth man left without incident.  

6:18 p.m. — An resident of Old Mill Lane, Katonah, complained about her neighbor who keeps riding their lawnmower onto her property despite her posting signage regarding the property line. Police spoke to the neighbor who admitted he does this. He was told the complainant was prepared to press trespass charges and had already completed a deposition.  

Wednesday, Oct. 8

9:01 a.m. — A two-car collision on Cross River Road, Katonah, resulted in a woman, 49, from Mount Kisco, being taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a possible back injury. Police say she was traveling east on Cross River Road when a delivery driver pulled out of a driveway and they crashed. Her car was towed, his wasn’t. No citations were issued.   

Thursday Oct. 9

11:13 a.m. — Police spoke to a resident of Fellowship Hall, Bedford Hills, after receiving an email alleging a kidnapped person, unable to speak. The email implied guns were involved. The resident, whose information came up as the email sender, denied any knowledge regarding the email or any kidnapped persons or involvement with firearms. Police called the email a spoofing incident, a spam or phishing attack to trick users into thinking a message is coming from a person they know or an entity they trust. 

11:48 a.m. — A Bedford Village caller reported an incident that occurred between themselves and a tow truck driver. The caller said he requested a tow for his employer’s vehicle but when the tow arrived, the caller said the driver didn’t have the proper equipment and canceled the tow. The driver said a cancellation fee had to be paid. Police advised this was a civil matter and the tow driver left without incident.   

Friday, Oct. 10

7:31 a.m. — A CPR class for Bedford Hills Katonah Little League coaches was provided at police headquarters. 

7:34 a.m. — A scam prevention training session was held at the Katonah Memorial House for members of the Women’s Civic Club of Katonah. 

10:22 a.m. — Police checked in on a young man reported as possibly homeless and in need of assistance wearing a red hoodie and a navy jacket on Undercliff Terrace,  Katonah. Police located him on Katonah Avenue. He said he was homeless and waiting for the bus. He said he didn’t need help and declined assistance.  

1:04 p.m. — An employee of a gas station on Haines Road, Katonah, reported on two separate occasions a couple who entered the store and stole protein bars and Rice Krispies Treats. The store said it wished to pursue charges. The incidents are currently in the hands of the detectives.  

Saturday, Oct. 11

12:18 p.m. — Police responded to a parking complaint in Bedford at the intersection of Loop and Pine Brook roads. The complaint was about a trailer. On arrival, police saw no problem. 

1:05 p.m. — While demonstrating how to put out an active fire at the Katonah firehouse, a concerned citizen called in a fire happening at the station’s annual Open House. Fire department members extinguished the fire which they said was in a controlled environment.  

3:52 p.m. — Bedford Police were notified by New York State Police of a suspect fleeing a traffic stop on Interstate 684. A car chase ensued onto Broad Brook Road and then an individual matching the description of the suspect was reported on foot on Bisbee Lane. Multiple agencies responded including Putnam and Westchester county police. Multiple canine handlers were deployed as well as drones. Bedford Police said the suspect was apprehended by Putnam County sheriffs in the woods off Bisbee Lane. No further information was provided. 

Sunday, Oct. 12

1:54 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Village for a domestic incident. They met with the caller in his driveway. He said he’d argued with a woman who he locked out of the house. He said they were friends and not romantically involved. Police found her on the back deck. She said they’d argued over a spoon he was using to eat potatoes she made. The argument was verbal only. She agreed to go to a hotel for the night.  

9:46 p.m. — A caller in Katonah reporting hearing a woman shouting for help brought police to the area. They heard no shouting or for anyone needing help.


Lewisboro

Monday, Oct. 13

2:05 p.m. — Police went to a location in Cross River and spoke with a woman who complained about chainsaws and other heavy equipment being operated on property adjacent to her family compound. Police did not observe any violations and advised the caller to be in contact with the town building department. 

7:21 p.m. — A caller requested a welfare check on a child seemingly alone by the basketball courts at the town park in South Salem. Police looked for him but didn’t see him.

Tuesday, Oct. 14

4:45 p.m. — An unconscious woman was reported in the roadway on Hunt Farm Road, Waccabuc. On arrival, Westchester EMS were already attending to her. She had a large cut on her face and complained of shoulder pain. She said she’d tripped while walking her dog. Her husband was alerted. She said she didn’t think she’d lost consciousness. She was transported to Northern Westchester Medical Center for evaluation. 

7:15 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle was reported on Main Street, South Salem. Police spoke to the operator, a Connecticut man, who said he had pulled over to make a phone call and was on his way back home.

Wednesday, Oct. 15

3:00 p.m. — Fraud was reported by a Lewisboro resident who walked into headquarters to report the name of a company he dissolved some time ago that was misappropriated by a person or entity. A report was made for documentation. 

9:45 p.m. — A driver traveling on Route 25 near Boutonville Road turned right too fast onto Boutonville and crashed into a tree. It appeared no one was injured. 

Thursday, Oct. 16

11:38 a.m. — A John Jay High School student who accidentally swallowed a bee while drinking from a water bottle at the Orchard Square Plaza was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining his throat felt funny and he had a mucous discharge. He was transported by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

4:00 p.m. — Police went to a home on Hemlock Road for a possible dispute between an auto glass worker and a South Salem resident. Larceny was reported. No further information was provided. 

Friday, Oct. 17

7:10 p.m. — A deer was reported struck and killed on Route 123 near Conant Valley Road. Police saw it on the northbound shoulder not blocking traffic. The Wolf Conservation Center was notified to collect it. 

9:20 p.m. — A loud teen party was reported outside at a residence on Benedict Road, South Salem. Police spoke with the homeowner who said his daughter was having a birthday party. No alcohol was being served and adults were present. The police didn’t hear or see any problem. An hour later the complainant called police again to say the kids were trespassing on his property. He was advised the party was under adult supervision. He said he would call his neighbor directly and leave the police out of it. 

Saturday, Oct. 18

10:26 a.m. — A driver was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital for lower leg and foot pain following a collision when they hit someone else’s car attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Route 121 from Route 35. 

Sunday, Oct. 19

9:49 a.m. — An elderly South Salem woman was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Vista ambulance crew members after complaining of stomach pain. 

9:20 p.m. — A South Salem resident expressed concern about a silver Prius parked on Silvermine Drive; the engine was running. On arrival, police saw the driver’s side front seat was fully reclined. A man was sleeping. Police knocked on the window to wake him up. He said he was an Uber driver and had just finished his last shift and was on his way back to Staten Island but was just taking a short nap. A check of his license showed no issues or warrants and he said he’d be on his way. The caller was advised and said she was pleased to know the information and that everything was OK. 

Mount Kisco

Sunday, Oct. 5

4:31 p.m. — Police had a report of multiple people stuck in an elevator at a building on Barker Street. An officer responded along with the Mount Kisco Fire Department. Firefighters were able to get the elevator door open and safely remove more than 10 people.

10:55 p.m. — A noise complaint was received on Foxwood Circle. A tenant reported that an upstairs neighbor had been stomping and dropping items to the floor with apparently the deliberate intention of disturbing her. She requested a report be prepared to document her complaint.

Monday, Oct. 6

1:41 a.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man sleeping on steps near a business on Main Street. The man was awakened and he told the officer he would walk home. The man, though, was unable to stand on his own and EMS was requested to respond. Westchester EMS took the man to Northern Westchester Hospital to be evaluated.

8:59 a.m. — An officer responded to Target on North Bedford Road to issue a formal trespass warning to a village man. Security personnel said he was involved in a past shoplifting incident and they requested he be issued a written trespass warning. The trespass notice was issued and the man was advised that he was now barred from the premises.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

1 p.m. — An officer issued a verbal warning to a man who was observed riding his bicycle on the sidewalk on Lexington Avenue in violation of a local ordinance. The man became agitated and deliberately continued to ride on the sidewalk. He was then issued a summons.

6:22 p.m. — Police had a report of a disturbance on Barker Street. Responding officers located two men in a verbal dispute over a parking spot. Both were sent their separate ways.

8:45 p.m. — A Barker Street resident arrived at the Green Street precinct to report that she is being harassed by a former boyfriend. An investigation is continuing.

10:43 p.m. — A parking complaint was received regarding a vehicle parked in a handicapped space on Carpenter Avenue. The vehicle did not have the proper handicapped parking placard displayed. A summons was issued.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

8:32 a.m. — Police had a report of a fire hydrant that was damaged on Gatto Drive, apparently by a vehicle, during the overnight hours. An officer checked at nearby residences but there was no security video located that captured the incident. 

5:05 p.m. — Report of a suspicious person on Emery Street wearing a gas mask and air tank. Officers located the man on Croton Avenue and determined he was a firefighter in possession of breathing equipment issued by his department.  

Thursday, Oct. 9

12:25 p.m. — Police investigated a report of an attempted larceny on North Moger Avenue. A resident reported that he looked out the window and saw a man in a black hoodie attempting to remove his patio umbrella. When the resident yelled at the man, the suspect ran away. Officers canvassed the area but could not locate the suspect.

1:36 p.m. — A summons for a village code violation was issued to a man who was operating an electric scooter on the sidewalk on Main Street.

5:12 p.m. – Detectives charged two people, ages 26 and 29, with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, in connection with an ongoing investigation. They were booked at the Green Street headquarters and arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court. 

5:52 p.m. — A Long Island man wanted on an outstanding Westchester County police warrant turned himself in at the Green Street precinct. He was booked on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a credit card) and arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
