Bedford

Women’s club says officer stole funds On Wednesday, May 13, at 4:01 p.m., the president of a women’s club in Bedford Hills came to headquarters  to report the club’s now former secretary cashed and wrote checks to herself using the club’s checkbook. Some of the stolen money has been returned, but not all of it, the club president said. Police contacted the club’s former treasurer who said she would contact the club president to work out a payment schedule to complete the restitution. No formal charges have been filed. 

Man calls 911 and asks for phone help On Thursday, May 14, at 6:28 p.m., a Bedford Hills man called 911 to say he was having trouble breathing. An officer and medics arrived and he was lift-assisted and returned to his bed. He appeared to have no difficulty breathing. He asked the officers while they were there if they could help him with his phone. He was reminded 911 is for emergency calls only.

Monday, May 11  9:53 a.m. — A Bedford Hills resident reported outgoing mail from his residential mailbox was altered and a check he wrote deposited to an unknown account. He checked his own bank account and saw the fraudulent action. His bank requested documentation to refund his money.  

11:57 p.m. — A Katonah resident in the vicinity of Bedford Road reported a fox was interacting with their dog although there was no contact. Police looked for the fox without result.  

12:49 p.m. — A Katonah resident who received a past due notice regarding a utility discovered a check she’d mailed to them a month prior from the Katonah post office outdoor drop box was altered and deposited to an unknown account. A report was made for documentation to give to her bank.  

Tuesday, May 12 12:34 p.m. — A woman, 75, was reported having difficulty breathing while in her car in Bedford Village. Her adult son was with her. Bedford firefighters administered oxygen. She was taken by Westchester EMS   to Northern Westchester Hospital.  

Wednesday, May 13 10:58 a.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills in response to a request for a welfare check from Mahopac Middle School regarding a child who stopped coming to school; no one was home at the residence. Police contacted the child’s mother’s boyfriend who said he didn’t know where the girl was but believed she was being home schooled. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was updated on the contact.  

Thursday, May 14 9:05 p.m. — An employee at Wogies restaurant in Katonah requested a welfare check on a female patron behaving oddly; they thought she might be experiencing an altered mental state. Police spoke with the woman and judged  her intoxicated. She left the restaurant with her boyfriend to walk home to her residence.  

Friday, May 15 9:07 a.m. — Police went to a residence in Katonah to check on an elderly woman at the request of her husband who was in Florida. The house was empty. Dispatch alerted patrol the woman might be with her daughter in Mamaroneck. The daughter was contacted and  said she was with her mother who was fine.

9:55 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills to speak with the mother of a girl, 6, after a social worker reported earlier that day the girl was inappropriately touched by a boy, 7, during an elementary school gym class. The social worker reported the incident was witnessed by school staff. No one was home but police spoke with the girl’s mother the next day. The mother said she was informed by the school and would speak further with school officials the next day. Police said the school resource officer will follow up.   

10:44 p.m. — Police followed up on a report of a missing minor teen girl from Bristol, Conn. The girl’s mother, who filed the report, said her daughter’s phone pinged at a location in Katonah. Police went to Lot 1 at the Metro-North train station to search for the girl without success. 

Saturday, May 16 3:56 p.m. — Officers went to a home in Bedford Hills after a man’s friends reported he hadn’t responded to their texts or calls for six days. The men have a regular meetup at Kensico Park. Police checked the interior of the home but he wasn’t there. No further information was provided.

11:06 p.m. — A Bedford Hills resident away from home asked police to check on his housesitter who wasn’t responding to texts. The housesitter came to the door and said he’d been asleep. He said he would call the homeowner to let him know everything was OK. 

Sunday, May 17 9:12 a.m. — A self-proclaimed “inexperienced” motorcycle rider, 46, from Cos Cob, Conn., took a curve too fast and crashed into heavy brush on Old Post Road. She was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford firefighters; her bike was towed. No information on injuries was provided. 

5:15 p.m. — A motorbike reported on the horse trail at Buxton Gorge in Bedford Hills was gone on police arrival. 

5:35 p.m. — The host of a party held on Old Post Road reported their concern regarding a guest who wandered off. Police saw a man in the vicinity who fit the description of the guest and stayed with him until the host arrived to bring him back to the party.

Lewisboro

Divorcing couple in late-night altercation at home A South Salem man came to headquarters On Saturday, May 16, at 4 a.m., to say his wife, who shares the house with him although they are divorcing, came home late and intoxicated and then entered his room to talk to him. When he said he was recording their conversation, she “leaped on the bed and ripped his shirt and scratched him,” according to the police report. Police went to the home to try to talk to her, but she wouldn’t come to the door. 

Monday, May 11 8:45 a.m. — Police were dispatched to Hilltop Road, Waccabuc, for a report of a log rolling over a worker. The injured party was a non-English speaker but a co-worker translated that he was cutting a large tree with a chainsaw on a hill when the tree rolled and struck him. The worker said he was having chest, neck and back pain and was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

3:00 p.m. — A woman who rents a home in South Salem reported landlord harassment. She recently informed her landlord she intended to break her lease and leave the premises in 90 days. She said the interior of her car which she left unlocked was tampered with and a key stolen from the cupholder; she blamed the landlord. Police spoke with him and he complained about her dog which he said relieves itself inside and is ruining his floors. A report was made of their complaints. 

3:10 p.m. — A Florida woman requested a welfare check on her South Salem friend. Police went to his home where a dog was barking and they could see the man lying down inside but not moving. They entered and he awakened. He had cuts on his face and agreed to go to the hospital. Inside the garage police saw an open gun safe including four rifles and three hand guns. Loose shotgun shells were on the floor. His wife arrived on scene and said she’d just returned from overseas travel. The firearms were turned over to a family friend with the admonition they could not be returned to the resident until further notice. The incident remains under investigation. 

Tuesday, May 12 12:22 p.m. — A woman told police she heard a dog crying and walked to a neighbor’s home on Increase Miller Road where she saw a healthy dog in its cage. The dog’s owner came out and asked what she was doing; she said she was checking on the dog and he responded by calling her harsh names. She said it wasn’t the first time they’ve had similar interactions. Police advised her to call them the next time she is concerned. 

7:30 p.m. — A complaint about parking issues on Park Road, Goldens Bridge, brought police to the area after one party said a camera belonging to a second party was trained on her house in such a way that her daughter, 14, can be seen through a bathroom window. Police had to leave the scene as they were called to respond to an active domestic situation. 

8:00 p.m. — Officers went to a home in South Salem where a mother reported her son throwing things after they argued over a property he wanted to rent in Manhattan. Police said nothing was broken and a New York state domestic incident report was completed. The next day the mother came to headquarters with his clothes and an envelope containing his personal documents. She showed police a video of him verbally abusing her and said she wanted nothing further to do with him. 

Wednesday, May 13 9:30 a.m. — A Connecticut man driving a Mercedes-Benz who had a beef with the Lewisboro Highway Department workers drove 100 mph through a work zone on Main Street. He told police a flagger struck his car though there was no evidence that happened. The driver left the scene shortly after; no traffic summons was issued. 

Thursday, May 14 5:30 p.m. — Police came upon a disabled vehicle in Cross River. The operator said she’d been waiting hours for a tow arranged via her insurance. The officer said he could get her a tow much faster, but she declined his offer.

8:40 p.m. — A woman with stomach pain was transported from her home in Waccabuc to NWH by Westchester EMS after complaining of dizziness and high blood pressure. 

Saturday, May 15 1:44 p.m. — A Bottega Vennetta wallet containing $700 or more in cash and multiple credit cards was reported lost on May 12 by a North Salem woman who thought she lost it at the Cross River Plaza. No fraudulent activity was reported on the cards. Police advised canceling the cards and suggested she notify the North Salem Police Department. 

Sunday, May 16 3:25 p.m. — Two cars collided on Route 35 when one driver was attempting to pull out of their own driveway to make a left turn. One person was transported to Danbury Hospital for a chest injury. 

5:28 p.m. — An officer saw a person walking on Route 121 they recognized as a resident of a group home on Todd Road. No staff member had noticed the person had left. An officer and a staff member escorted the person back inside the home. 

10:35 p.m. — Police went to a home in Cross River after a husband reported his wife was overdosed. He said she’d recently spent four days in a mental health program, her speech was slurry and she expressed a desire to end her life. Westchester EMS transported her to Northern Westchester Hospital.

Pound Ridge

Tuesday, May 12 9:15 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for lack of a valid inspection sticker.  

9:30 p.m. — A woman who thought she wanted help changed her mind and didn’t want assistance after Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps medics arrived at her home for an unspecified medical reason. 

10:21 a.m. —  A man requiring a lift assist was helped by a PRVAC medic. No other help was needed.

Wednesday, May 13 8:25 a.m. — A hit-and-run incident involving two vehicles was reported by a caller on Westchester Avenue. Police say the car left behind did not require tow and no one was injured.  

11:23 a.m. — A man requesting lift assistance was aided by PRVAC members. He declined further attention. 

1:05 p.m. — A woman was transported to Northern Westchester Medical Center by PRVAC. 

3:40 p.m. — Trees down and on wires were reported on Donbrook Road. The utility was notified. 

5:15 p.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue: one for speeding 54 mph in a 30-mph zone; and one for no insurance.  

8:30 p.m. — A caller on Trinity Pass Road reported fraudulent charges to her credit card. The bank closed her account and is investigating. 

Thursday, May 14 9:30 a.m. —  A man was transported by PRVAC to NWHC for undisclosed reasons. 

1:41 p.m. — A dog reported loose on White Birch Lane returned home on its own without police assistance. 

3:18 p.m. — A caller on Long Ridge Road reported damage to their car’s passenger side rear window. Police thought the window malfunctioned on its own as nothing was removed from the car. A report was made for insurance.  

Friday, May 15 10:08 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue received a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign. 

12:00 noon — A person with a legal permit to solicit door-to-door for Anderson Windows was reported as suspicious by a caller on Pound Ridge Road. The caller was informed the salesperson had a permit to solicit. 

12:08 p.m. —  A landscaper doing work at a residence on Rolling Meadow Lane was informed they were in violation of the local ordinance regarding  gas-powered leaf blowers. The landscaper said he was unaware of the ordinance and would immediately switch to battery-powered tools.  

3:55 p.m. — The operator of a disabled vehicle on Upper Shad Road told police they’d already called for tow. 

5:15 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a summons for no stop lamps. 

6:08 p.m. — A motor carrier traveling on Salem Road was given a summons for violating safety rules.  

Saturday, May 16 11:03 a.m. — A speeder on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 55 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

5:45 p.m. — A driver on Long Ridge Road was given four summonses: speeding 50 mph in a 30-mph zone; a tinted windshield violation; towing more than one vehicle at a time; and an equipment violation. 

10:45 p.m. — A speeder on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for going 57 mph in a 30-mph zone.  

Sunday, May 17 4:25 a.m. — The driver of a disabled vehicle stopped on Saddle Ridge Road told a police officer that a tow vehicle was on the way.   

8:25 a.m. — A driver on Stone Hill Road was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

10:10 a.m. — A speeder doing 53 mph in a 35-mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue.   

10:20 a.m. — A driver on Pound Ridge Road was ticketed for doing 52 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

Mount Kisco 

Thirsty thief makes off with beer On Monday May 11, at 2:30 p.m., a manager at Stop & Shop called police to report a prior incident. Store video showed a man placing six packs of beer and other beverages into a cart and leaving the store without paying. The items were valued at $163, a larceny. The license plate of the vehicle the man drove off in was determined. An investigation is continuing.

Sunday, May 10 8:35 a.m. — A man approached an officer conducting an inspection at the Mount Kisco train station and said he wanted to harm himself. EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the man to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

9:05 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a man panhandling outside CVS on South Bedford Road. The man left without incident.

4:16 p.m. — An officer on patrol in Kirby Plaza observed a 48-year-old man with an open can of beer. The man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. It is returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on July 2.

Monday, May 11 10:24 a.m. — An officer responded to Mount Kisco Elementary School on a report of a student having a seizure. Westchester EMS also responded and took the child to the hospital with a school administrator aboard. The parents were notified.

11:47 a.m. — An unwanted person was reported in a laundromat on Lexington Avenue. He left the premises. 

3:29 p.m. — Officers responded to a Barker Street residence on a report of a man in emotional crisis. EMS and the Westchester County Mobile Crisis Response Team were requested to respond.

6:10 p.m. — An officer on patrol in Kirby Plaza observed two men drinking from a bottle of vodka. Both men were issued summonses for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. They are due in village court on July 2.

9 p.m. — A fire was reported in a grill on North Bedford Road. The Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to extinguish the blaze.

9 p.m. — Report of an intoxicated man in the 500 block of East Main Street. The man told an officer he was unable to stand on his own and EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to the hospital for evaluation.

Tuesday, May 12 6:31 a.m. — Report of a customer harassing a worker in a deli in the 400 block of Main Street. 

11:15 a.m. — A woman fell and hit her head in the Mount Kisco Public Library. EMS was requested.

12:31 p.m. — Report of a man acting erratically in Leonard Park. Responding officers requested EMS to take the man to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

1:44 p.m. — A woman called police to request a welfare check on her ex-husband on Amuso Drive. She said she had not spoken with him since March 2023 and wanted to make sure he was OK. The man reported that he was fine.

6:55 p.m. — A sinkhole was reported on Hillside Avenue. The Department of Public Works was advised and responded to meet an officer.

Wednesday, May 13 10:38 a.m. — Report of a man acting erratically in front of the Mount Kisco Public Library. An officer requested the Westchester County Mobile Crisis Response Team. All parties were subsequently brought to the Green Street precinct to continue assisting the man with services.

5:49 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a man at the callbox who reported that his daughter was threatened with harm by another teen. He wanted information on obtaining a temporary order of protection. Since the incident occurred in Somers, he was advised to report the matter to the New York state police barracks in that community.
