POUND RIDGE

Tuesday, March 31

7:39 a.m. — A driver traveling on Pound Ridge Road was issued a speeding ticket for going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

8:58 a.m. — A traffic enforcement on High Ridge Road caught one driver doing 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

11:25 a.m. — A dog found wandering on Buck Hill Lane was safely returned to its owner.  

2:10 p.m. — A neighbor dispute on Westchester Avenue was reported but police declined to provide details as to the nature or outcome of the dispute. 

5:45 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for using their mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle. 

Wednesday, April 1

7:45 a.m. — A car reported as “suspicious” by a caller on Laurel Road turned out to be a lost cleaning lady looking for the correct house. 

9:25 a.m. — Multiple summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: two for driving while talking or texting on their phone and one for driving with an invalid registration.  

1:57 p.m. — Wires were reported down on Lower Shad Road. The utility was notified. 

4:05 p.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: two for using their phones and one for disobeying a traffic device.  

8:45 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for driving with no insurance. 

Thursday, April 2

9:15 a.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

12:08 p.m. — A caller on Cross Pond Road reported a snake in the attic. Police gave the caller the contact for a “nuisance control” wildlife specialist.  

1:15 p.m. — A driver doing 53 mph in a 30-mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue. 

5:45 p.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

Friday, April 3

8:09 p.m. — A driver on Salem Road was given a summons for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

9:00 p.m. — No violations were observed during a radar patrol on Westchester Avenue. 

Saturday, April 4

2:19 p.m. —  A driver doing 53 mph in a 30-mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue.  

3:25 p.m. — Police spoke to the driver of a disabled vehicle on High Ridge Road; the operator said they didn’t need help and a tow was on the way.   

6:20 p.m. — A driver on High Ridge Road was ticketed for inoperative stop lamps and for not being properly licensed.  

Sunday, April 5

6:30 p.m. — No violations were observed during a radar patrol on Westchester Avenue. 

Monday, April 6

12:48 a.m. — A woman was taken to Stamford Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Her age and condition were not reported. 

9:24 a.m. — A loose dog located on Westchester Avenue was turned over to its owner. 


BEDFORD

Problems at the mailbox 

Multiple people came to police headquarters last week to report checks dropped in the post office drop boxes at the Bedford Hills and Katonah post offices were stolen, “washed” and altered. See reports below.

Monday, March 30 

10:48 a.m. — A caller on Woodland Road, Bedford Hills, reported shell casings in the roadway. Police on arrival saw a number of casings along with empty packaging for over-the-counter medication. Neighbors were interviewed but said they heard no gunshots and that the casings weren’t there earlier in the day. Due to the number of casings, the items were entered into Found Property.  

12:17 p.m. — A Bedford Hills woman reported she was contacted by her insurance company for nonpayment after she mailed her payment from the Bedford Hills postal dropbox. She was reimbursed by her bank who asked for a police report for documentation.  

8:42 p.m. — Bedford Hills firefighters went to a home on Cherry Street for sparks flying from a chimney. Firefighters said the sparks were caused by creosote buildup. It was recommended the chimney be professionally cleaned. 

Tuesday, March 31

11:29 a.m. —Police went to Fellowship Hall, Bedford Hills, after a neighbor complained about another neighbor sitting on her lawn chairs and talking to himself. Police are familiar with the man who has been advised to leave his neighbors alone. The Mobile Crisis Response Team was contacted and a plan was put in place for the man moving forward.   

6:35 p.m. — Police returned to Fellowship Hall after the same man was reported walking around in his underwear and looking in windows. At the time of their arrival, he was fully dressed. He admitted he’d been outside in his underwear and requested help. An officer arranged transportation to Northern Westchester Hospital. The MCRT was contacted and agreed to meet him there.  

Wednesday. April 1

10:59 a.m. — Sewer water was observed overflowing in the vicinity of the CVS on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. The Bedford Hills Fire Department was on scene and the property manager of the building was notified. 

5:21 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford for a welfare check after an insurance official reported a concerning phone call. A woman told police she’d been unable to get her medication after transferring from one HMO to another, but declined transport as she was waiting to hear back from the Medicaid representative. Police advised her to call back if she changed her mind. No further action was taken. 

Thursday, April 2

7:07 p.m. — A woman, 74, who accidentally overdosed on pain medication after a recent surgery, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for treatment.  

12:07 p.m. — A woman, 15, who fainted at her Katonah home was alert when police arrived. She said she inexplicably experienced a fainting episode. She was taken with her mother to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. 

Friday, April 3 

12:38 p.m. — A Bedford Hills woman walked into headquarters to report a Verizon account had been fraudulently opened in her name and that she owed one thousand dollars; she said she’s never had a Verizon account. Verizon requested she file a police report for documentation. She said she is not out any money.  

1:20 p.m. — A Katonah resident came to headquarters to report a check she wrote and mailed from the Katonah post office box was removed, washed, and  cashed by an unknown party. Police said a U.S. postal inspector is investigating these incidents and a report was made for documentation.

4:45 p.m. —  A Jeep reported driving north on Bedford Road with a teenager on the roof was gone on police arrival.  

Saturday, April 4 

12:37 p.m. — A Bedford Hills resident came to headquarters to report three checks they deposited in the mailbox at the Bedford Hills post office were washed and fraudulently altered. They became aware only after their bank began its own investigation. 

Sunday. April 5

1:42 p.m. — Police helped a Bedford Hills resident in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease by contacting her daughter after she requested their help. The woman, police said, forgets where her daughter is located. The daughter was contacted and her mother was advised. 

6:11 p.m. — A Bedford Hills man, 30, was reported knocking on car windows and asking for money at the intersection of Babbitt Road and Robinson Avenue. He told police he lives around the corner after they told him to go home. 

8:46 p.m. — Police responded to a 911 call from a home on Croton Lake Road, Katonah. A young woman said she called the emergency number during an argument with her mother. This family is well known to the police. Everyone was calm on police arrival and no further action was taken. 


LEWISBORO

Kosher meal kerfuffle

On Tuesday, March 31, at 1:10 p.m., two officers went to Four Winds Hospital, Cross River, to check on a patient who dialed 911 because she was concerned the hospital would not be able to provide her with the correct foods to have a kosher Passover. She was assured by staff that her dietary and religious needs would be met. No further action was needed. 

Monday, March 30

8:52 a.m. — Police pulled over a red Nissan traveling eastbound on Route 35 with no front plate. The vehicle’s rear plate came back to a gray BMW marked suspended for toll violations. At the traffic stop, the operator immediately got out of the car as if to run away. He told the police officer he was on probation and worked at a mechanic shop and that the Nissan belongs to a customer and he had no idea about the plate switch. A check of the operator’s license showed 22 suspensions on eight dates and a check of the car’s registration showed its plates surrendered. Police said the operator changed his story a little to say the car belonged to his uncle who bought it off Facebook Marketplace and it was in the mechanic shop for repair. The operator was issued six tickets including one to appear in court April 13. The probation department was alerted. 

12:00 p.m. — Westchester County dog bite reports were completed following an incident at a home in South Salem where two dogs bit a delivery driver. Police observed multiple bite marks on the man’s lower legs. The dogs’ owner provided police with their vaccination information; she protested she was not at fault as she has a “No Trespassing” sign posted at the entrance to her property and another sign indicating where packages should be left due to past biting incidents. The driver later came to the police station to sign and date a HIPAA authorization form for treatment he received for the bites at a hospital in Queens. 

Tuesday, March 31

4:03 p.m. — Harassment was reported by a parent who came to police headquarters. A mother said her son was involved in a fight at the Meadow Pond Elementary School and he was dizzy and in pain. His mother alleged past incidents of bullying and expressed concern about retaliation from the school towards her son and herself should she provide detailed information. The school resource officer was made aware of her report. 

5:50 p.m. — Police went to a home in Cross River for a report of two teenage brothers fighting; their mother said they were destroying the house. Police spoke to the angrier one and told him to stop fighting with his brother but he was uncooperative and did not want to talk to the police. A New York state domestic incident report was completed. 

10:15 p.m. — A Katonah woman whose husband said she was grieving her father’s death was transported by Louisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital after making suicidal comments. Earlier in the day she’d argued with her husband and left the residence. 

Wednesday, April 1

5:08 p.m. — Fraud and identity theft were reported by a South Salem resident who said an unknown party opened a credit card account using his personal information. He indicated he was not out any money; a report was made for documentation.

9:20 p.m. — A resident of Quincy Court, Goldens Bridge, reported she was being pranked, possibly by her son’s friends, when she was added to a group chat on social media and was suddenly barraged by unknown numbers. She said she’s been in contact with some of the parents. Police advised her to block all unknown numbers. 

Thursday, April 2

10:30 a.m. — An employer requested police go to a home in South Salem to check on the resident who hadn’t shown up for work. Police found the man in a state of intoxication but able to care for himself. His employer was advised. 

Friday, April 3

2:45 p.m. — A Subaru struck a deer on Route 138 and Old Bedford Road when the animal suddenly entered the roadway and the driver couldn’t stop. Two children buckled into car seats were unharmed in the back seat. The vehicle sustained significant damage to its front end. No accident report or tow was requested at the time. 

4:41 p.m. — Fraud in the form of check washing was reported by a Katonah couple who said a check the husband wrote for $86 to their insurance company was intercepted, tampered with, written and deposited for $16,708.00,  all the money in their account. He said they are out the money. No further information was provided at this time. 

Saturday, April 4

11:20 a.m. — A South Salem woman, age and condition unknown, was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Vista firefighters after she said she felt like she might faint. 

Sunday, April 5

5:25 p.m. — A woman, 17, was taken by ambulance from the Four Winds Hospital, Cross River, to Northern Westchester Hospital for low sodium levels. 


MOUNT KISCO

Saturday, March 28

10:30 a.m. — Westchester County Police were notified by the New York City Police Department that a man wanted on warrants issued in Mount Kisco Justice Court was in custody at Bronx central booking. Officers picked up the man and brought him back to the Green Street precinct, where he was booked on charges of second-degree burglary and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was arraigned in Village Court and sent to the county jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. He was due in court April 9.

3:08 p.m. — Report of an apparently intoxicated man harassing people outside a gas station in the 600 block of East Main Street. The condition was corrected, but a short time later, officers returned to the site to respond to a report of an intoxicated man refusing to leave the premises. The man refused a directive to leave the store and was belligerent with officers, causing a disturbance. He was taken into custody and charged with trespass and disorderly conduct, both violations. He was due in Village Court on April 9.

Sunday, March 29

9:14 a.m. — An officer met a person at the Green Street precinct callbox who wanted to make a fraud complaint. The man reported that he had received a call from a person purporting to be from his bank and ended up sending the man almost $2,500 by Zelle to rectify a supposed problem with his account. A report was prepared and the matter was turned over to a detective for continued investigation.

12:14 p.m. — Police received a report of a man sleeping on the sidewalk near Gatto Drive and Lexington Avenue. He was determined to be intoxicated. EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took the man to the hospital.

2:53 p.m. — Police received a report of a man yelling at people on Carpenter Avenue. An officer advised the man that he would be arrested if he continued his behavior. He left the area.

8:06 p.m. — An officer observed an intoxicated man on Green Street near Lexington Avenue. Westchester EMS responded to take the man to the hospital.

11:01 p.m. — A landlord reported that he believed there was a fight in progress outside a building he owns in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue. Responding officers saw four men on the street but no fight was observed. One of the men was found to be highly intoxicated and EMS was requested out of concern for his safety. Westchester EMS took the man to the hospital.

Monday, March 30

2:20 p.m. — An officer observed a man drinking a can of beer during a foot patrol on the Early Settlement Trail and River Walk. When the man spotted the officer, he threw the beer can away, unaware he had been observed first. That man was issued two summonses: one for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage and one for littering. The summonses were returnable to Village Court on April 9.

6:49 p.m. — A man arrived at the Green Street precinct to report that his 19-year-old son was missing. He said his son has not been answering his phone for days and had not shown up for work since March 26. After several hours of investigation, it was determined that the man might have gone to Queens. A records check with the New York City Police Department for any possible contact with the man revealed that he had been found in emotional crisis at a location in that borough and taken to a hospital several days earlier for a mental health evaluation. Officers verified that the man was still in that Queens hospital and provided the information to family members in Mount Kisco.

Tuesday, March 31

11:38 a.m. — Police received a complaint of an unwanted party in a South Moger Avenue business. An officer advised the man that he had to leave the premises. He did so without incident. The condition was corrected.

1:14 p.m. — An officer conducting a foot patrol and inspection on the Early Settlement Trail observed a man sitting on a log and drinking a beer. The man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. He is due in Village Court on April 16.

1:15 p.m. — An officer observed a man urinating on the side of a building on Barker Street. The man was issued a summons for public urination, a violation. He is due to answer the charge in Mount Kisco Justice Court on April 16.

3:13 p.m. — A woman called police to report that a small change purse was taken from her vest as it hung on the back of a chair at a Lexington Avenue deli. She said it contained a few coins and a winning lottery ticket that she described variously as worth $30, $40 or $50. The deli owner said that security video was reviewed prior to the officer’s arrival and showed that no one went near the woman’s vest. The complainant said she did not wish to pursue the matter further and left the store. 

7:31 p.m. — A village resident arrived at the Green Street precinct to report he had been harassed by a neighbor when he complained about the safety of stairs on the man’s property. A report was prepared and the complainant was advised that he could pursue the safety issue with the village’s code enforcement officer.

8:25 p.m. — Officers responded to the 100 block of Lexington Avenue after a 911 hang-up call was received. A man who was highly intoxicated was found to have made the call. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to take the man to the hospital for evaluation.

9:35 p.m. — Police received a report of a man drinking beer behind a Lexington Avenue laundromat. A responding officer observed the violation and issued the man a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. He was due in court April 9.

Wednesday, April 1

12:55 a.m. — Officers responded to Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way on a report of a verbal domestic dispute. Officers spoke with a man who had come to the hotel to demand that his wife, who was a guest there, turn over car keys to him but she refused to leave her room or speak with him further after a brief phone call. The man was advised to leave the premises and complied. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.

10:42 a.m. — Police received a report of a man bathing in the Kisco River. Multiple officers responded and located the man but he was clothed at that time. An officer was sent to the home of the caller but she declined to make a more detailed statement due to having to leave for another commitment.

11:11 a.m. — An officer checked on four men observed on the Early Settlement Trail near Main Street and Lexington Avenue. One of the men was lying on the ground and unable to stand on his own due to being highly intoxicated. EMS was requested, and the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to take the man to the hospital for evaluation. 

6:20 p.m. — Police received a report of two men sleeping in the Mount Kisco Public Library. The condition was corrected.
