BEDFORD
Monday, Aug. 10
9:30 a.m. — A caller on Edgemont Road, Katonah, reported a possibly sick raccoon on the sidewalk near a business. Prior to police arrival, an employee of that business shooed it off the sidewalk and it ran into an adjacent wooded area. Police did not see the raccoon.
Tuesday, Aug. 11
3:02 p.m. — Police responded to a residence in Bedford Hills for a reported dispute between family members over a broken cellphone cord. A New York state domestic incident report was completed. Police said the argument was verbal only.
6:36 p.m. — A man, 75, was transported by ambulance from his home in Bedford Hills to Northern Westchester Hospital for difficulty breathing.
Wednesday, Aug. 12
11:01 a.m. — A caller on Greenwich Road, Bedford, reported her husband told her he saw an unknown person enter their driveway at 11:45 p.m., the night before; he only mentioned this to her in the morning. A check of their cars and outside doors showed nothing was taken or disturbed. Police advised the next time they observe something suspicious, call the police immediately and not hours later.
5:46 p.m. — A possibly sick raccoon reported on Lyons Ridge Road, Katonah, was gone on police arrival.
Thursday, Aug. 13
11:33 a.m. — Police intervened in a misunderstanding between neighbors in Bedford Hills after the children of one neighbor playfully chased their neighbor’s cat, resulting in the cat’s owner shouting at the children. After police spoke with both parties, it was agreed no harm was intended towards the cat and that all parties would strive to be more neighborly.
12:01 p.m. — An injured raccoon was reported in Bedford Hills in the vicinity of Cherry Street and Dwight Lane. Police said it was gone before they got there.
1:41 p.m. — Police encountered the sick or injured raccoon in the vicinity of Cherry Street and Roosevelt Drive and dispatched it. The Highway Department was notified for removal.
7:58 p.m. —A Katonah man came to headquarters to report his estranged wife, who has an order of protection prohibiting him from having contact with her, attempted to contact him by phone. He did not respond to her call and instead contacted his attorney who advised him to notify the police to say he did not violate the protection order.
Friday, Aug. 14
4:07 p.m. —A man, 67, was taken by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining of feeling dizzy.
10:14 p.m. — A traffic summons was issued to a driver in the vicinity of Cherry Street and Woodsbridge Road. No further information was provided.
Saturday, Aug. 15
10:44 a.m. — Assistance was rendered to a Bedford woman who requested her home be checked after it filled with smoke due to food accidentally burned in the microwave. Police and Bedford firefighters responded and said there was no issue.
5:46 p.m. — A Katonah resident came to headquarters to report three fraudulent charges were made on her personal bank account by an unknown party. She requested the incident be documented and said she is working with her bank to refund her money.
Sunday, Aug. 16
8:01 a.m. — A sick raccoon was reported in the vicinity of Reynolds Lane, Bedford. Police said it was gone prior to their arrival.
5:17 p.m. — A Katonah woman reported an unknown man who walked up her driveway towards the rear of her home. She saw him from an upstairs window, but when she went downstairs to confront him, he’d left the area. Police looked for him without result.
8:25 p.m. — Police responded to a disturbance at a restaurant on Katonah Avenue reported to have occurred in the bar/lounge area. They said a patron was on a call with family members and had both parties on loudspeaker which bothered another patron. There was an argument and then both parties left the lounge. Police encountered them outside where they agreed to go their separate ways.
11:01 p.m. — A caller on Robin Hood Lane, Bedford Hills, reported they’d used a shovel to move a sick raccoon closer to the edge of the woods adjacent to their property. When police arrived, the animal had disappeared deeper into the forest.
POUND RIDGE
Man faces speeding, reckless driving charges
On Friday, Aug. 14, at 5:12 p.m., a resident of New Canaan, Conn., was stopped and arrested on Fancher Road, charged with reckless driving, speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation. Police said he attempted to flee after they activated their emergency lights when the driver was observed doing 76 mph in a 30-mph zone. He was brought to headquarters for processing and is to appear in court Sept. 14.
Tuesday, Aug. 11
9:13 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a traffic summons for operating a vehicle while using an electronic device.
12:00 p.m. — A welfare check was requested at a location on Fox Hill Road. No further information was provided.
6:20 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.
8:24 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 62 mph in a 30-mph zone.
Wednesday, Aug. 12
8:07 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 57 mph in a 30-mph zone.
8:25 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 57 mph in a 30-mph zone.
9:00 a.m. — A collision on Long Ridge Road involving one vehicle; both the driver and passenger were taken to a hospital by an unknown ambulance. The car was towed. No further information was provided.
12:30 p.m. — A speeding ticket was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for driving 61 mph in a 30-mph zone.
1:05 p.m. — A speeding ticket was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for driving 56 mph in a 30-mph zone.
4:05 p.m. — A caller on Rolling Meadow Lane complained of a gas leaf blower in use. Police on arrival saw no violations.
5:18 p.m. — A woman was transported from her residence on Old Stone Hill Road to Stamford Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.
Thursday, Aug. 13
8:42 a.m. — A driver who failed to stop for a stop sign on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket.
1:09 p.m. — A caller on South Bedford Road called 911 to report a fire condition. Firefighters arrived but saw no sign of a fire.
10:47 p.m. — A caller on Salem Road reported a snake inside the home. Police were unable to locate the snake.
11:45 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle reported on Major Lockwood Road was gone on police arrival.
Saturday, Aug. 15
8:00 a.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance from her home on Knapp Road to Stamford Hospital. No further information was provided.
2:13 p.m. — An Indian Hill Road resident was taken from her home to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Corps.
7:05 p.m. — A man was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital from his home on Horseshoe Hill Road. No further information was provided.
Sunday, Aug. 16
11:45 a.m. — Police responded to a noise complaint on Cross Pond Road regarding construction on prohibited days/hours. The contractor was advised of the local ordinance and stopped work.
Monday, Aug. 17
7:40 a.m. — Police went to a home on Upper Shad Road for a report of an “audible sound” coming from the house. The officer didn’t hear it.
9:20 p.m. — A crash reported on Salem Road brought police to the scene. There was no evidence of a crash or anyone in the immediate area.
LEWISBORO
Monday, Aug. 10
10:05 a.m. — A woman came to headquarters to report she’d been bitten on the knee by a dog at a home on Douglas Drive, South Salem, where she was attending a work meeting. She told police that when the resident opened the door, two dogs ran towards her and one dog bit her. The reporting party said she left and drove herself to New York-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. The matter has been referred to the Lewisboro dog control officer.
11:17 a.m. — A Cross River resident reported identity theft after they were contacted by a credit agency attempting to collect a $27,000 debt owed to the Small Business Administration. The reporting party said they’d never applied for or secured a loan with that agency and believes their information was fraudulently used to obtain it. A report was made to provide to the collection agency and the SBA.
Tuesday, Aug. 11
10:00 a.m. — Police went to a home on Bouton Road, South Salem, after a man requested assistance retrieving property from his father. He said his father might have dementia and is in possession of a shotgun and indicated he thought his father might hurt him if he went to the house. Police spoke with the father who said his son hasn’t lived on the property for two years and that he doesn’t want his son inside for fear he might bug the property. He was coherent and appeared in good health. He agreed to let his son come over at another time to collect his things. The son was apprised.
2:00 p.m. — A South Salem woman came to headquarters to complain about her ex-husband with whom she has a non-court-ordered custodial agreement. She said he grows marijuana in a spare bedroom at his home next to the children’s bedrooms. Police advised her to contact family court. A message was left for the father. Police went to his residence the next day and found him outside the house. Police said there were no indications of child neglect or that the children aren’t well cared for.
8:35 p.m. — A resident of Rock Shelter Road, Waccabuc, reported a woman ringing the intercom at their gate asking if they were interested in purchasing software. The reporting party thought this was an odd hour for solicitation and declined to open the gate. Police looked for the woman without result.
Wednesday, Aug. 12
6 p.m. — A sick raccoon was reported by a caller on Elmwood Road, South Salem, who said their dog had approached it. Police observed the animal to be very sick and covered in flies. It was dispatched in a portion of woods with heavy vegetation, and left to decompose naturally.
Thursday, Aug. 13
12:00 p.m. — Police impounded a green Toyota with darkly tinted windows traveling on Route 35. During the traffic stop the driver produced a Brazilian passport and said she had a Connecticut driver’s license, which, police said, turned out to be untrue. She was issued multiple summonses and the car was towed.
2:00 p.m. — A credit card found at a market in South Salem was turned in to police who returned the card to its owner at their residence.
Friday, Aug. 14
9:50 a.m. — Police went to an address on Todd Road, Katonah, for a report of a possibly offensive sign. There was a tag sale at the location and observed was a sign that said, “Fancy Floors and Toddler Wars 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.” The homeowner expressed surprise that anyone would call the police about this. The complainant did not respond when police called for follow up.
1:53 p.m. — Two Lewisboro police officers went to a home in South Salem after an assault was reported. On arrival, they were told the suspect was with New York State troopers at a location on Avery Road with her young child. She agreed to come to headquarters to be processed and her father was contacted to come and get the child. Lewisboro Police met with the victim whose nose was broken. She said her son’s ex-girlfriend hit her and that the baby is her son’s child. The fight, necklace grabbing and profanities included, was recorded on her Ring doorbell camera; she said she was punched in the face with a closed fist three times. She refused medical attention and said her husband was taking her to Norwalk Hospital. Police are investigating.
Saturday, Aug. 15
12:50 a.m. — Fraud was reported at a home on Chapel Road, Waccabuc. The reporting party said an unknown party washed and cashed a check of hers on Oct. 20, 2025. Police are investigating.
8:15 p.m. — Police went to Cove Road, South Salem, after a person reported an injury to their hand after their dog was attacked by another dog who ran towards them. The dog was observed lying in its own yard. No one appeared to be home; the house was unlocked and the dog was placed inside. A card was left for the resident to contact the police. They called back and said the dog was currently vaccinated. The town clerk and the dog control officer were apprised of the situation.
Sunday, Aug. 16
12:51 p.m. — A white Mazda was impounded on Route 35 after police pulled it over for a nonworking brake light and darkly tinted windows. The operator produced a Guatemalan passport and said they had no license. The vehicle was also not registered or insured. The plates were confiscated, the car was towed and the operator was issued multiple tickets.
8:08 p.m. — A mental health incident was reported by a mother in South Salem who said her daughter was crying and had found a sewing needle and was using it to scratch her wrist. The daughter was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Vista EMS.
