BEDFORD
Pound Ridge teen accused of attacking girlfriend
A Pound Ridge man, 18, was arrested and charged with assault, resisting arrest and strangulation at 3:38 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11. Police responded to the CVS pharmacy in Bedford Hills after a young woman was assisted by a stranger entering the store bleeding from her ear. She told police she was in her boyfriend’s car parked behind the pharmacy when he punched her in the face and proceeded to choke her. She escaped the car but he chased her and threw her to the ground and continued assaulting her until she got away. A Westchester County police officer located him soon after by ShopRite, where, police said, he resisted arrest and made threats of self-harm. Additional officers arrived and there was a scuffle before he was handcuffed, police said. The young woman was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was brought to headquarters and processed. Unable to make bail, he was transferred to the county jail and was to appear in court Dec. 17.
Monday, Dec. 8
9:55 a.m. — Police went to an address on Cantitoe Road, Katonah, where an open burn by the treeline was reported; they saw men cutting down a tree. They told police they started a small fire to get warm. Police advised them of the ordinance on open burns and the fire was extinguished.
4:20 p.m. — Bedford Hills firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at Kohl’s on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, in the shoe department. An employee of the store said there was no fire but a malfunction in the alarm.
6:08 p.m. — A Bedford Hills man, 18, who has a history of concussions was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital as a precaution after a two-car crash on Bedford Road near Depot Plaza. Police said he was making a left turn when he drove into another car. He was issued a summons for driving without a license. The other party was a Katonah woman who refused medical attention. Both cars were towed.
Tuesday, Dec. 9
7:04 a.m. — A woman, 40, was said to be out of control and speaking aggressively to another resident of a group home in Bedford Hills. Police said no physicality was involved and the woman said she would stay in her room and away from the other woman.
5:09 p.m. — A Bedford Hills man reported an unauthorized transaction on his business credit card; he became aware of the problem when he received a fraud alert. A representative from the credit card company said the purchase was shipped to an address in the Bronx but declined to provide details. The card was canceled and the reporting party said they are not out any funds.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
8:39 a.m. — The group home resident, who was reported to police on Dec. 9, was reported to police again, this time for blocking a bus/van driver from getting back into their vehicle. An officer was able to calm her down and she got on the bus/van to go to her scheduled activity.
5:37 p.m. — A person who said they’d been involved in a collision in October in front of Nino’s in Bedford Hills told police they’d not requested an officer on scene for an accident report at the time; now the other party was harassing them to pay for paint damage to their car. The complainant asked the police to contact the other party and ask them to stop calling. Police did, and also advised both parties it was a civil matter and if there were continued issues, to contact their attorneys.
11:52 p.m. — The Westchester County Mobile Crisis Response Team was on scene when police arrived at the Bedford Hills train station for a man, 20, behaving as though he was intoxicated and emotionally upset. He was taken by Northern Westchester Hospital by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. An officer rode in the ambulance with him.
Thursday, Dec. 11
12:14 p.m. — Five cars were involved in a pileup in a parking lot on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. Three of the cars were parked at the time and unoccupied. A Pound Ridge woman, 69, told police she was backing out when her car “took off” at a high rate of speed, striking another vehicle which in turn crashed into the third vehicle and so forth. Four cars were towed and no citations were issued. No injuries were reported.
1:37 p.m. — An Ossining man, 58, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford firefighters after falling off scaffolding he was dismantling at a construction site on Harris Road. Police met with him at the construction trailer where he was bleeding from the head and not able to say what happened. A witness said he briefly lost consciousness and fell about 10 feet.
4:30 p.m. — An emotionally distraught teenager was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS after an incident in Bedford Hills. She and her mother were taken to Northern Westchester Hospital and a New York state domestic incident report was completed. No further information was provided.
Friday, Dec. 12
6:03 a.m. — Police and multiple fire departments responded to a fire at Northwind Kennels in Bedford. No people were injured in the fire and police said all the kenneled dogs were rescued and survived. (See story on page 1)
9:25 a.m. — A Bedford woman and her father requested advice from police regarding the woman’s ex-husband. She said their divorce was contentious and she is afraid he will try to take her son away. Police advised her to contact family court.
10:41 a.m. — An employee at Northwind Kennel requested police assistance with a reporter they said was refusing to leave the property. The reporter was gone before police arrived.
2:01 p.m. — Katonah firefighters rescued a person stuck in an elevator at the Katonah train station. The elevator was placed out of service and the proper authority advised of its condition. It’s not known how long the person was stuck.
Saturday, Dec. 13
6:35 p.m. — A resident of Bedford, female, 62, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters suffering from an infected tooth.
Sunday, Dec. 14
5:04 a.m. — Two men were reported waving for help standing on the side of the roadway on Croton Lake Road were unable to be located by police on their arrival.
19:55 a.m. — Two cars were reported off the roadway in the vicinity of Bedford Center Road and Harris Road; one driver said he saw a car that slid off the roadway and tried to stop to help. As a result, one of the cars slid further and into a pole. Nobody was injured and one car was towed. One of the involved parties was from Briarcliff, the other from Bedford Hills.
2:49 p.m. — A young woman from Bedford reported she’d been walking her dog in Pound Ridge when she encountered a man walking two dogs. He asked if the dogs could meet, but when the dogs got closer, one of his dogs lunged at her dog. Her dog wasn’t hurt but she said the man grabbed his dog and held it down in the snow and began beating it. Police provided her with information to contact the SPCA in Westchester to make her report due to jurisdiction issues.
LEWISBORO
Dirty looks bring police
Wednesday, Dec. 10, “dirty looks” were reported by two neighbors on South Shore Drive, South Salem. Police said there is a history of animosity between the neighbors. It was suggested they avoid each other.
Monday, Dec. 8
11:00 a.m. — Police spoke with a Katonah woman who said her husband accidentally left his phone on top of her car when he put their baby in the car seat. She was on Route 35 in the vicinity of Cross River Road when she heard something fall off the car. Technology on the phone indicated it had been in a collision; it later pinged at an address in Mount Vernon. Lewisboro Police requested the Mount Vernon Police help retrieving the phone but they declined. No further action was taken.
4:30 p.m. — A resident came to headquarters to report a possible situation regarding three cemetery plots on Long Island; his deceased father purchased the plots and he assumed the rest belonged to his brother and him. He has an active order of protection against his brother, and is concerned about a troubling letter from the cemetery regarding the plots’ ownership. Police advised him it is a civil matter.
Tuesday, Dec. 9
8:15 a.m. — A child, 21 months, was taken from his home in Cross River to Westchester Medical Center for possible seizure by Advanced Life Saving and the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
7:54 a.m. — A driver traveling on Route 35 near Route 121 was observed by an officer not wearing a seatbelt. A traffic stop was initiated and it turned out the operator’s license was suspended. Tickets were written and he is expected to be in court Jan. 5. His truck was towed and taken out of service.
9:45 a.m. — A self-described crypto trader from Cross River reported fraud after her bank let her know of a $4,000 transaction, which she said she didn’t make. She told police she has an account with a crypto investment firm and communicates with them through WhatsApp, but didn’t suspect identity theft. A report was made for documentation.
3:50 p.m. — A caller in Katonah told police about wood chips dumped in their yard. Calls were made and it was established the chips were delivered to the wrong address and the matter would be rectified.
Thursday, Dec. 11
10:35 p.m. — Police went to the Shell station on Route 123 after a caller reported a suspicious U-Haul vehicle with Arizona plates parked in the lot. Numerous people were reported to have emerged from it but were gone on police arrival. The door was unlocked and police saw clothing and household items. Police looked for any people with negative results.
Friday, Dec. 12
11:50 a.m. — An elderly woman with COVID-19 who also might have had a stroke was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
3:30 p.m. — A mother came to headquarters with her sons to report that while the elder was driving his younger brother home from John Jay High School they were harassed by another teen driving behind them. The older boys have a history and the school resource officer has worked with them in the past to avoid contact. The teen told police he was not feeling as strongly about the incident as did his mother and a report only was made at this time.
Saturday, Dec. 13
2:15 p.m. — Police went to a shopping center in Cross River after a woman was reported “selling things” in front of the supermarket. Police had a word with her and she left without incident.
Sunday, Dec. 14
12:39 p.m. — A car stuck in snow at Increase Miller Road and Todd Road was freed by a police officer and someone who pitched in to help.
3:20 p.m. — Police went to Five Ponds Drive, Waccabuc, for a car that slid off the roadway after losing traction in the snow. A tow was called to winch it out. No injuries were reported.
5:00 p.m. — Police assisted the town of Lewisboro’s first night of Hanukkah celebration in front of the townhouse. The event concluded without incident.
POUND RIDGE
Would-be patron refuses to leave
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 6:42 p.m., police went to a restaurant on Westchester Avenue after staff complained about a person who refused to leave after being informed it was closed for a private event. The individual left the premises after being told the police were on their way.

8:34 a.m. — A Heerdt Farm Lane caller reported a couple of people parked on the road sitting outside their cars. Police came by and spoke to the men who said they were local landscapers waiting for their crew to show up.
3:00 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic device.
6:00 p.m. — A male who requested medical help refused it when it arrived.
7:40 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic device.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
5:10 a.m. — A disabled car stuck in a ditch on High Ridge Road was towed. Nobody was injured.
Thursday, Dec. 11
4:00 a.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.
8:35 a.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.
2:54 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.
2:40 p.m. — A Stamford, Conn., woman looking for her dogs who she thought might be on Blacksmith Lane was assisted by police. They were happily reunited.
4:05 p.m. — A door-to-door salesman selling Andersen Windows with a proper permit was the subject of a complaint on Tatomuck Road.
6:50 p.m. — No violations were observed during a traffic enforcement on Westchester Avenue.
8:47 p.m. — A woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.
Friday, Dec. 12
10:31 a.m. — A driver pulled over on Westchester Avenue was cited for failure to notify motor vehicles of their change of address.
2:00 p.m. — A person brought a dog they found to headquarters; the owner was contacted and the dog was reunited with its owner.
Saturday, Dec. 13
12:05 p.m. — A two-car collision on Old Stone Hill Road resulted in minor property damage. No one was injured and neither car required a tow.
1:30 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic device.
3:50 p.m. — A disabled car on Salem Road was towed.
Sunday, Dec. 14
5:25 a.m. — A one-car crash on Long Ridge Road resulted in no injuries and no tow.
12:42 p.m. — A one-car crash on Stone Hill Road resulted in the vehicle being towed. The driver was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps for unknown injuries.
2:10 p.m. — Wires were reported down on Westchester Avenue. Police observed cable wires down and the utility was notified.
MOUNT KISCO
Sunday, Dec. 7
5:28 a.m. — Police received a report of a domestic dispute on Spring Street. The incident was determined to be verbal in nature only. One of the parties to the dispute was highly intoxicated and EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took the man to the hospital for evaluation.
2:27 p.m. — Police received a report of an elderly man injured in a fall at his Barker Street residence. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took the man to the hospital.
3:34 p.m. — A noise complaint involving leaf blowers on Diplomat Drive was received. Condition corrected.
4:28 p.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man sitting on the sidewalk on South Moger Avenue and screaming incoherently. The man was found to be highly intoxicated. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took the man to the hospital for evaluation.
Monday, Dec. 8
7:04 a.m. — Police received a report of an unwanted person refusing to leave a Lexington Avenue laundromat. The condition was corrected.
9 a.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to take a harassment complaint. A Barker Street resident reported being regularly harassed by a neighbor and recently threatened with physical harm. The complainant provided a doorbell camera video of the encounter. The resident was provided with information on how to obtain a temporary order of protection. The investigation is continuing.
1:20 p.m. — A man called police to report that his car was stolen from the Mount Kisco Commons parking lot on North Bedford Road. As an officer responded, an investigator in the Real Time Crime Center checked local traffic cameras and could find no indication that the vehicle was on any local roadway in the previous hour. After a canvass of the lot, the vehicle was located.
3 p.m. — A domestic disturbance was reported at a medical building on South Bedford Road. The parties to the dispute, a woman and her father, were separated by staff as officers responded. The woman reported that her father had grabbed her and hit her in the face during an argument. She did not wish to pursue charges but reported feeling unsafe bringing him to medical appointments in the future. EMS was requested due to the man’s altered mental state and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Adult Protective Services was notified to assist with obtaining family services. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
6:50 p.m. — Personnel from a South Moger Avenue business requested police assistance with removing an unwanted party from the store. At management’s request, the man was issued a formal trespass warning barring him from the premises in the future.
8:57 p.m. — Police received a report of teens causing a disturbance at Target. Officers escorted the youths from the store.
Tuesday, Dec. 9
2:56 a.m. — An intoxicated man called police from Grove Street to ask for assistance finding his home. A responding officer determined the man lived on Gregory Avenue and drove him home to ensure his safety.
12:49 p.m. — An unwanted person was reported to be inside a laundromat in the 400 block of Main Street. The responding officer determined that the man was highly intoxicated and in need of medical evaluation. EMS was requested.
Wednesday, Dec. 10
7:47 a.m. — A Barker Street resident reported that a relative was unresponsive at their residence. Responding officers conducted CPR and turned over care to Westchester EMS and the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps upon their arrival. A man in his 60s was pronounced deceased. Detectives responded to take over the investigation, and the death was later deemed to be of natural causes.
10:29 a.m. — A fire was reported in a Carpenter Avenue residence. The Mount Kisco Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze, containing it to a single room.
1:57 p.m. — Police received a report of a person sleeping in a store on South Moger Avenue. At management’s request, a formal trespass warning was issued, barring the manfrom the premises in the future.
Thursday, Dec. 11
8:13 a.m. — Officers responded to Lexington Avenue after receiving a 911 hang-up call. Two men were found to be in a verbal dispute. The parties were separated and sent their separate ways.
3:31 p.m. — A woman called Westchester County Police to report that her boyfriend had choked her during an argument and that she had fled from him on North Bedford Road. Officers located her behind the former ShopRite building in Bedford Hills. It was determined that the initial incident had also occurred in Bedford and the matter was turned over to Bedford Police for continued investigation.
5:23 p.m. — Police received a report of a larceny suspect being detained by store security at Target on North Bedford Road. A 69-year-old Somers man was subsequently taken into custody and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He is accused of not scanning $54 worth of merchandise at a self-checkout lane and leaving the store with those items. The man was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Jan. 8 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
