BEDFORD
Monday, June 22
1:18 p.m. — A business owner on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, reported an unknown party fraudulently used their Amazon account to purchase goods. The complainant had already contacted Amazon and was able to get a refund. A report was made for documentation.
9:38 p.m. — Police assisted a Bedford Hills caller removing a bat from their residence. The bat was successfully released into the wild.
Tuesday, June 23
8:37 a.m. — Police went to a residence in Bedford Hills for a verbal incident between a man and his ex-girlfriend who he said was at his residence when he returned from working his night shift. The woman was no longer on scene. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
12:55 p.m. — A Succabone Road resident spoke with police about his frustration regarding a third incident involving a large black bear that continues to come onto his horse property. He said he’s spoken with state and county wildlife representatives and was told no action could be taken unless the bear became aggressive with any humans or animals on the property. A report was made for documentation only at this time.
Wednesday, June 24
12:36 p.m. — A man, 44, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps from a residence on Cherry Street, Bedford Hills, for a complaint of chest pain.
10:41 p.m. — A caller on Croton Lake Road, Bedford Corners, reported someone dumping items into a dumpster they hired for their own use. Police searched the area with negative results.
10:47 p.m. — A summons was issued to the driver of a commercial vehicle traveling on Woodsbridge Road near Cherry Street, Katonah, for driving out of class.
Thursday, June 25
6:35 p.m. — A dog reported lost and wandering on Baldwin Road found its own way home.
Friday, June 26
7:55 a.m. — A transformer explosion on School Street near Robinson Avenue, Bedford Hills, brought firefighters to the scene. They located a blown breaker but no active hazard. The utility was notified.
10:44 a.m. — The driver of a commercial vehicle stopped at Bedford Center Road and Stone Bridge Lane, Bedford Hills, was ticketed for lack of a fire extinguisher.
11:48 a.m. — The owner of a restaurant in Bedford Village reported cash missing from a safe. They said the employee responsible for making a bank deposit at the end of the work day likely took it. That employee was recently terminated. The reporting party only wished to document the incident.
12:13 p.m. — A business owner in Bedford Hills reported copper pipe was stolen from the business. Police are investigating.
1:42 p.m. — Police went to a gas station in Bedford Hills to help settle a dispute between a customer and an employee after the customer accidentally drove over a decorative flower display in front of the business. Ultimately a small sum of money was agreed on to pay for the damage and the customer left.
3:56 p.m. — Two female neighbors on Lake Marie Lane, Bedford Hills, who cannot get along were advised to avoid each other. Police say one of the parties is moving soon.
Saturday, June 27
3:30 a.m. — Police went to a home on Harris Road, Katonah, after a parent reported his daughter, 26, had been out drinking and was now home and causing a scene. Police arrived and saw she was intoxicated. She declined assistance and said she was going to her room. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
8:49 a.m. — An injured kitten found and placed in a box by a caller on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, was collected by a police officer and brought to a veterinarian. No updates were available regarding the kitten’s situation.
2:08 p.m. — A resident came to headquarters with an old rifle they requested to surrender for destruction. The firearm was taken into safekeeping and will be destroyed at a later time.
Sunday, June 28
9:26 a.m. — A caller on Hillside Avenue, Katonah, complained about a suspicious male who placed a handwritten letter in her mailbox. Police read the letter and said it was from an old classmate of the woman’s son and there was no reason for concern.
10:30 a.m. — Police went to the Bedford Hills Memorial Park after a caller reported possible child abuse observed in the parking area. They spoke with a father who said he lifted his child high into the air before helping them into their car seat. The children in the car seemed happy and there was no sign of abuse. Police also spoke with a soccer coach familiar with the family who said they’d never seen anything indicating harm. The caller acknowledged to police they might have misread the situation.
12:31 p.m. — A critically injured fawn reported on Whitlockville Road, Katonah, was humanely dispatched.
4:45 p.m. — A Katonah man came to headquarters to complain about his ex-girlfriend who he said is constantly texting him for money and the return of her property, which includes her dogs. He was on the fence about how he wanted to proceed with this matter. A report was made for documentation and a New York state domestic incident report completed.
LEWISBORO
Missing man said he went to Maine
On Tuesday, June 23, at 9:28 a.m., police received a welfare check request for a South Salem man under stress. The day unfolded as police looked for the man and spoke to his estranged wife, who said he had to move out because she had an order of protection against him. Multiple attempts were made to contact the man on different phones and eventually a pry bar was used to enter his residence where police observed a shotgun and shotgun rounds on the coffee table. On the floor nearby was a military style rifle. The guns were removed and entered into safekeeping. Meanwhile, the man’s sister contacted police to say she was with him the day before when she drove him to a restaurant in Bedford to have a drink but unfortunately ran into the estranged wife and had to leave. His sister drove him home but had not seen or heard from him since. Inquiries were made to local hospitals to see if he was a patient. Police finally heard from him at 3:50 p.m.; he said he was in Maine and just needed to get away. He was advised by police they have his firearms in safekeeping.
Monday, June 22
8:10 p.m. — Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a South Salem home; one firefighter fell through the first floor into the basement and was transported to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation. The home was unoccupied. A Bedford detective was on scene to assist the Westchester County Cause and Origin team in their investigation. The homeowner was notified.
9:00 p.m. — A pitbull was reported in someone’s South Salem yard twice in one day. The reporting party observed it going to an address on Cross Pond Road. Police went to that address but no one was home. The dog was not seen.
Tuesday, June 23
5:41 p.m. — A staff member at Four Winds Hospital was taken to Westchester Medical Center for a possible concussion after colliding with another person while playing basketball and hitting his head.
Wednesday, June 24
8:43 a.m. — A car was impounded after being stopped in the vicinity of West Lane and Stonewall Court; police said the driver failed to stop for a stop sign. The operator, when requested, said they had no driver’s license and produced a Brazilian passport. The Honda with dark tinted windows was impounded and the operator issued a summons.
10:40 a.m. — A driver operating with a suspended New York license was given three summonses and their vehicle impounded at a traffic stop at Orchard Square Mall in Cross River.
1:10 p.m. — Police went to a playground in South Salem for a report of a suspicious man in a white Nissan. The man was familiar to police because on June 3 he was reported lying on a bench in Vista Park shirtless. At the time, he told police he was sunbathing. He was advised by police the park was for Lewisboro residents only and if he returns to any town park he will be prosecuted.
6:00 p.m. — A Renewal by Andersen salesman was reported aggressively banging on the door by a Cross River resident. There was also a parking issue. Police spoke to the salesman who was resistant to their suggestions. His supervisor later contacted police to apologize for his behavior. A permit to solicit was turned over to the supervisor.
6:25 p.m. — Police went to a man’s home in South Salem at the request of his sister who was concerned about his emotional status. She said she traveled to a casino in Boston, Mass., looking for him after learning he had made concerning statements. Police found him at home. He is the same man reported missing a few days earlier. His firearms, which police took at the time into safekeeping, have since been returned. A neighbor approached when she saw the ambulance on scene. She said she would stay with him until the Westchester County mobile crisis response team arrived.
Thursday, June 25
12:05 p.m. — South Salem firefighters deployed their ATV to assist a Cross River man who walked about ½ mile into a wooded area near his home and fell. He was returned to his residence without incident.
3:15 p.m. — A man in a white Nissan with Connecticut plates was reported as suspicious in the parking lot at Onatru Farm. He was advised by police the park was for Lewisboro residents only and if he returns to any town park he will be prosecuted.
7:40 p.m. — A bear was reported knocking down a birdfeeder on Fairmount Road, Goldens Bridge. The caller said the bear ate the bird food before returning to the woods. The caller was advised to not approach the bear and call if it returns.
Friday, June 26
10:55 p.m. — A South Salem caller reported six to eight gunshots in the vicinity of Route 35 and Boutonville Road. They also reported screeching tires but did not see a vehicle. Police searched the area without result.
Saturday, June 27
11:35 a.m. — A bear was reported in a Katonah driveway. The caller said his wife saw the bear and was scared. The bear was gone on police arrival.
3:00 p.m. — A solicitor working without a permit was reported on Brundige Drive, Katonah. Police searched the area without locating the person.
Sunday, June 28
11:56 a.m. — A bear was reported by a caller in Goldens Bridge on Manor Drive who claimed an animal knocked over a garbage can and garbage was strewn across their driveway. Goldens Bridge firefighters assisted police searching for the bear but deemed the bear call unfounded. The complainant cleaned up the garbage while police were present.
MOUNT KISCO
Crossing guard struck by car
On Thursday, June 25, at 8:33 a.m., a crossing guard was injured when she was struck by a motorist who was making a left turn from Main Street onto Smith Avenue The crossing guard was conscious and alert upon arrival of police and EMS. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for treatment of a leg injury. The vehicle that struck her was operated by a 71-year-old Mamaroneck man. An investigation is continuing.
Sunday, June 21
4:02 a.m. — Police received a report of a disorderly male running in the roadway in the 300 block of Main Street. The man was gone upon arrival.
4:58 a.m. — Complaint of a disorderly customer at a gas station in the 500 block of East Main Street. The customer left the premises when police were called. An employee was advised to call back if the man returned so a trespass warning could be issued to him.
8:58 a.m. — Police received a report of a man acting erratically in the 500 block of Lexington Avenue. Officers located the man and requested EMS respond to evaluate him. The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
11:45 a.m. — Police received a report of graffiti on village-owned property on Lincoln Place. A report was prepared.
7:07 p.m. — An intoxicated male was reported to be in a room at Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way. EMS was requested. The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
10:53 p.m. — Police received a report of a fight in progress at a yard party on Lexington Avenue. Following an investigation, a 25-year-old village man was charged with third-degree assault, a felony. A man who suffered a laceration to his forehead after being punched three times was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. The accused man was booked at the Green Street precinct and held overnight for arraignment. He was released on his own recognizance at arraignment and returned to court on June 25. A temporary order of protection was issued barring the suspect from any contact with the victim.
Monday, June 22
5:22 p.m. — Police received a report of a disabled ambulette on North Bedford Road. The Mount Kisco Fire Department was requested to respond to assist with transferring three people from the ambulette to another vehicle.
Tuesday, June 23
7:17 a.m. — Officers responded to a verbal domestic dispute between a mother and adult daughter on Gatto Drive. A domestic incident report was prepared. Due to the presence of a child, Child Protective Services was notified and advised to follow up regarding family issues and living conditions.
10:15 a.m. — A South Bedford Road business reported that an employee came to work intoxicated and was sent home. Concern was expressed that she drove away in her car. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the woman’s vehicle. A subsequent check of traffic cameras determined the woman had not driven herself to work that morning.
2:08 p.m. — A report was received of people at Byram Lake possibly swimming. Upon arrival, an officer observed a small group of people but no one was in the water. The group was determined to be City University of New York students looking to sample lake water for a class project. The students were advised they were on restricted property and left without incident.
Wednesday, June 24
3:31 a.m. — Police received a report of wires on fire on Rutland Street. The Mount Kisco Fire Department responded. The condition was corrected.
8:33 a.m. — Police received a complaint that a man had defecated in the parking lot of a store on North Bedford Road. The man, who was sitting in his car when an officer arrived, was detained while security video was reviewed. The 30-year-old Carmel resident was issued a summons for defecating in public, a violation. The summons is returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on July 23.
12:10 p.m. — Police received a report of a domestic dispute on Spring Street between a father and his teenage son. The dispute was verbal in nature only. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.
2:43 p.m. — A rollover motor vehicle accident was reported on South Bedford Road near Main Street. Police received a report that a collision occurred when a Jeep traveling west on South Bedford Road sideswiped a BMW sedan while passing it to attempt a left-hand turn. The Jeep overturned, injuring its driver, a Hopewell Junction woman in her 60s. She complained of body pain and nausea and was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for evaluation. The driver of the other vehicle, an Armonk man in his 60s, was not injured. An investigation is continuing.
9:15 p.m. — An officer conducting an inspection in Leonard Park observed a man drinking from a can of beer near the swimming pool. The man, 22, was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation.
9:40 p.m. — Officers responded to Spring Street on a report of criminal mischief at a residence. After investigation, a juvenile was charged with criminal contempt in connection with violating a court order and with criminal mischief for deliberately damaging a cell phone and TV set. The youth was processed at the Green Street precinct and released to a relative pending a future appearance in Westchester County Family Court.
Thursday, June 25
5:57 a.m. — An anonymous caller made a complaint about a “loud chicken” on or near West Main Street. No noise condition was found by a responding officer.
12:01 p.m. — Officers responded to Barker Street on a complaint that a man was violating a court-issued order of protection. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend was in front of her building hours after a court-approved property retrieval occurred and that she was unable to leave for work. A 40-year-old White Plains man was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal contempt. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared and lethality screening conducted. At arraignment that evening, bail was set at $2,500, which the man posted. He was released pending a July 6 appearance in village court.
2:35 p.m. — Officers responded to Moore Avenue to assist the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation. A search warrant was served for a garage behind a home and stolen tires valued at $2,400 were recovered. A 45-year-old Moore Avenue resident was charged by Westchester County Police with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. After being booked at the Green Street precinct, the man was released pending a July 16 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
7:10 p.m. — A woman called police to report that she was locked inside a business in the 200 block of Main Street. She told officers that she was using the restroom and discovered that all employees had left while in the restroom.
POUND RIDGE
Wednesday, June 24
9:05 a.m. — A Lower Trinity Pass Road caller complained about another resident using a gas leaf blower. None were observed in use.
9:10 a.m. — A Kitchawan Road resident reported a smell of gas. The odor was traced to two empty propane gas tanks. Pound Ridge firefighters shut off the tanks and told the resident to contact their oil company to make a delivery.
4:05 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a summons for parking in a handicapped space.
4:21 p.m. — A woman was taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps from her home on Westchester Avenue by Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.
5:10 p.m. — A mental health incident was reported on Lower Shad Road. No further information was provided.
7:37 p.m. — A reckless cyclist traveling on High Ridge Road was reported. Police were unable to locate the individual.
Thursday, June 25
9:15 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a summons for using their phone while driving.
12:04 p.m. — A landscaper with a gas-powered backpack blower reported on Adams Lane was advised not to use it.
Friday, June 26
9:10 a.m. — A summons was given to a driver on Westchester Avenue for improper license plates.
7:40 p.m. — Two lost dogs reported on Barnegat Road were found by their owner.
Saturday, June 27
10:30 a.m. — Police removed a downed tree limb reported blocking Trinity Pass Road.
Sunday, June 28
9:30 a.m. — A caller on Eastwoods Road reported unnecessary noise coming from a nearby residence. Police observed a generator making a humming noise and said there was no problem.
Monday, June 29
1:15 a.m. — A Cross River Road resident reported possible criminal mischief after discovering a large hole in their garbage can. Police saw interior bags were chewed and thought an animal had become trapped inside and somehow ignited an aerosol can which exploded, causing the hole.
