Ex-girlfriend took back her pots and pans 

On Monday, May 19, at 10:10 p.m., a resident of Gilbert Street, South Salem, reported that his former girlfriend illegally entered his home. He said she took a set of pots and pans, that she hasn’t lived there for eight months, and doesn’t have permission to enter the home. Police spoke to the woman who admitted she’d been inside the house. She said she took her own cookware. She said there was a misunderstanding about her entering, but said since she has her pots and pans, she has no reason to return. 


Monday, May 12

10:19 a.m. — A woman alerted police about a tent in the woods behind her mother’s home on Old Oscaleta Road. Police on arrival spoke with a man cleaning up the area who said he’d been staying in the tent as he had nowhere else to live but was moving to his boss’ home. Police escorted him out of the woods and off the property. 

10:33 a.m. — A man was reported burning garbage behind a resident’s home on South Shore Drive. The man was encountered by an officer on an adjacent abandoned property and police said the man used an expletive toward the officer. There was some confusion regarding the address and who owned the seemingly abandoned property. The reporting party did not want to pursue the matter. 

11:20 a.m. — Police searched for a girl, 11, reported lost after she entered the woods behind her home. Police found her with her dog and brought her home. 

3:20 p.m. — A child who fell off swings and injured her arm at a school on Goldens Bridge Road was taken by Lewisboro ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. Westchester County Police were already at the scene. 

8:00 p.m. — A raccoon secured in a garbage can at a baseball field in South Salem was reported possibly rabid by parents during a game who said no one had contact with it. Police waited until the game was over and the families had left the area before checking the animal and dispatching it. The animal was bagged and discarded in a bin at the back of the park. 


Tuesday, May 13

7:22 p.m. — A female having a seizure at their home in Katonah was assisted by Westchester EMS and Lewisboro ambulance crew. Her mother said she’d already administered medication to her daughter who was then stable. No further action was taken. 


Wednesday, May 14

12:15 p.m. — K-9 Zane and his police officer handler visited a school in Katonah to do a demonstration with a class of psychology students. Police described it as a public relations visit. 

1:15 p.m. — One person was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by an unknown ambulance to be evaluated for arm and leg pain after a two-car collision just outside the John Jay High School campus. One driver refused medical attention. Both cars were towed. 


Thursday, May 15

3:15 p.m. — A juvenile raccoon was reported in the roadway at Church Tavern Road. Police looked for it with negative results.

4:15 p.m. — A South Salem man came to headquarters to report a custody dispute with his ex-wife. No further Information was provided.

7:30 p.m. — Teenagers in two vehicles were reported cruising around a housing development in Goldens Bridge. Police found the cars, an Acura and a Mercedes-Benz. They spoke to the operators and a passenger who all live in the development. No further action was taken. 


Friday, May 16

7:30 p.m.— Disorderly conduct was reported at a long-term residential facility in South Salem after a man was reported fighting with staff. Police arrived and spoke with a woman who said the man was calm now and medicated. She said he’d been aggressive and has a fever. Police observed him lying on his bed. A supervisor said he did not need to go to the hospital and the police left the residence. 


Saturday, May 17

9:52  a.m. — A burglar alarm was activated at a Katonah residence. Police responding found no signs of forced entry but a rear sliding door was found unlocked. An officer entered the home but it didn’t appear that there had been an intruder. The homeowner was notified. Police were unable to lock the door. 

1:27 p.m. — Police and emergency medical personnel went to a home in Pound Ridge after receiving notice that a male, 84, had passed out. On their arrival he was in the kitchen, alert and conscious. He was checked by a paramedic. No further information was provided.


Sunday, May 18

12:15 p.m. — A male, 84, reported not feeling well was taken from his home in South Salem to Norwalk Hospital by Vista firefighters.
