Lewisboro Police Report July 15-21

Homeless man aided near shopping center

On Monday, July 15, at 3:30 p.m., a caller reported a shirtless man inside a smoke shop in the North County Shopping Plaza in Goldens Bridge. Police spoke with a store employee who said the man came in, purchased a cigar and left without incident. Police found the man outside on a bench; he was without identification and said he was homeless and would be taking a train to New York City from the nearby Metro North train station. Police said the man had food, water and money for the train and did not appear in distress. However, an hour and a half later he was reported to have fallen by the side of the road. Police said he wasn’t injured. Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported him to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.

Police said she did not appear to be intoxicated or otherwise impaired. She told police she might have swerved while driving because she was unfamiliar with the local roads. Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display.

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.
