Woman not welcome at South Salem liquor store  

On Wednesday,  June 25, at 3:20 p.m., a woman reported she’d been harassed by a liquor store owner in South Salem after he told her to leave his business when she came in with her granddaughter. She said she hadn’t been in the store for four years after writing a negative review about the business on a Google site. Now she was back and the store owner told her to get out. Police listened to both parties and told the owner of the liquor store the woman would not be returning. 


Monday, June 23

8:00 a.m. — A driver traveling on Bouton Road, South Salem, swerved to avoid hitting a deer that suddenly entered the roadway. As their car went off the road shoulder, it struck a residential address sign and then a utility pole before colliding with another address sign. No injuries were reported. The car did not require a tow. 

10:30 a.m. — An officer went to Four Winds Hospital, Route 35, Cross River, and spoke with a woman who voluntarily admitted her daughter the day before after the child threatened self-harm. When she came to collect her daughter the next day, she was informed of the 72 hour mandatory hold and told she would have to speak with a medical director to get her daughter released earlier. The mother called back later that day to say her daughter was being released and no further help was required. 

2:26 p.m. — Two brothers physically fighting brought police to the home they share with their mother in South Salem. During the scuffle, one brother was bitten. Westchester EMS was on scene to evaluate wounds and injuries. One brother refused medical attention and the other was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital to be treated for his injuries. A stay away order was issued to one brother who was placed in handcuffs and taken to headquarters where he was arraigned by a judge and charged with assault.  


Tuesday, June 24

11:30 a.m. — A female, 11, was taken by Vista EMS to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining of chest pain. She said she was walking home from the bus and thought she might faint. 

1:05 p.m. — A caller on Lakeshore Drive, South Salem, alerted police to a deer in his yard that hadn’t moved for three days. Police arrived and saw it was unable to get up. The deer was dispatched with one round and the Wolf Conservation Center was contacted for removal. 

4:35 p.m. — A hit and run was reported in the vicinity of Scenic Drive, South Salem, involving a Tesla and a Nissan. A caller witnessed it but police couldn’t locate either of the described vehicles. Police did finally connect with one of the involved parties who said a Nissan passed her on the left and hit the left side of her car. New Canaan, Conn., police were notified as it appears this incident happened in their jurisdiction. 


Wednesday, June 25

8:30 p.m. — Police went to an address in South Salem on a neighbor complaint. The complaining party was upset because the neighbor’s kids kept hitting lacrosse balls into her yard and one hit her BMW, which police said was not damaged. The two women had a confrontation and water was thrown. Police asked the mother of the lacrosse players to move the net and the complaining party was advised to leave the other woman alone and avoid contact.  


Thursday, June 26

10:25 a.m. — A report of a juvenile patient putting their hands around another juvenile patient’s neck was reported at Four Winds Hospital, Route 35, Cross River. Police went to the hospital and spoke to the nurse who made the report. He said no one was injured. Parents were notified and a report was made for documentation only. 


Friday, June 27

9:17 a.m. — A deer was reported impaled on a fence on Church Tavern Road, South Salem. Police arrived and saw the impaled deer which they euthanized to avoid further suffering. The Wolf Conservation Center was contacted for removal. 

9:52 a.m. — An order of protection was served on a Waccabuc resident through Westchester Family Court. The requesting party asked specifically that the order not be served when the person’s children were present. Police asked him to come to headquarters to receive the paperwork where he was served. 

2:00 p.m. — A 2-year-old who knocked out their front teeth after falling down stairs was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester paramedics. 

7:05 p.m. — A male, 24, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital while assembling an above-ground pool at a home in Goldens Bridge. He complained of back pain after falling from a ladder. 


Saturday, June 28

8:20 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a verbal-only domestic incident. A New York state domestic incident report was completed. 


Sunday, June 29

8:00 p.m. — A person, age and gender unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps after complaining of dizziness.
