Westchester County Police have yet to publicly release the name of the woman found dead in the woods in Mount Kisco last week but a few new details have emerged.

On Wednesday, authorities revealed that the woman found on the morning of May 21 was in her 20s, and based on the identification found at the scene, her legal residence was in another Westchester County municipality, said county police spokesman Kieran O’Leary.

Her family was reached at that address and told police that she had been staying with a friend at a residence near the Mount Kisco-New Castle town line. O’Leary said that it appears the woman walked to the woods off of East Main Street near Lexington Avenue where her body was discovered at 7:20 a.m. Her car was found at the friend’s residence, he said.

Police continue to wait for toxicology tests before releasing any additional information about the woman. O’Leary said it typically takes 60 to 90 days before a toxicology report is released. An autopsy was also conducted.

The body of the woman was found not far from where a homeless man was discovered in June 2023. The body of another homeless man also turned up in the woods near Lexington Avenue and Lieto Drive last Dec. 22. However, police said the death of the woman is not related to homelessness, which has become a major issue in the village in recent years.
