Land Conservancy promotes Dave Prosser

The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy has announced the promotion of Dave Prosser to director of land stewardship. 

Since joining the PRLC in April 2023, Prosser has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to PRLC’s work in land conservation and environmental education, the group said.

In his new position, Prosser will lead stewardship and grant writing for PRLC, manage all volunteer programs, and oversee the care and maintenance of 20 preserves with over 12 miles of trails. 

“In less than two years with PRLC, Dave has grown tremendously in the scope of his work he is doing for us as he extends his already-strong skill set with experience in Pound Ridge,” said Jack Wilson, president of the group’s board. “We rely on Dave’s leadership and judgment in areas far beyond his initial responsibilities and we want his title to reflect the expansion of his role with PRLC.”

Prosser is enthusiastic about his new role.

“I am honored to step into this leadership position and am eager to continue working with our dedicated board and the community to promote environmental stewardship and land conservation,” he said.

The promotion comes as the land conservancy celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of land preservation and environmental advocacy.


Caramoor president leaving at end of March

Caramoor President and CEO Edward J. Lewis III will leave the organization March 31 to pursue new opportunities closer to his home in Washington, D.C.

Pound Ridge Police Reports Jan. 28 - February. 2


Tuesday, Jan. 28

10:00 a.m. — A driver traveling on Salem Road was issued a speeding ticket for traveling 20 mph over the posted 30-mph limit. 

4:45 p.m. —  Stamford, Conn., ambulance crew members took a man, age unknown, to Greenwich Hospital. No further information was provided.

10:45 p.m. —  A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.  


Wednesday, Jan. 29

7:20 a.m. —  A caller on Major Lockwood Road reported a disabled vehicle in the roadway. Police contacted the operator who said their car had broken down and they were waiting for a tow.  

3:00 p.m. — Trees that fell and brought down wires blocking Honey Hollow Road were reported; police set out flares and the utility was notified. The utility advised police it could be a while before they were able to respond due to the high volume of calls. 

5:45 p.m. — Callers on Honey Hollow Road continued to report the road blocked by fallen trees. The utility was still due to arrive on scene.  

7:40 p.m. — During a traffic detail on Westchester Avenue, police issued three drivers speeding tickets for traveling 50 mph in a marked 30-mph zone.  

8:45 p.m. — Callers on Eastwoods Road reported trees on wires blocking the roadway. The utility was notified.  


Thursday, Jan. 30

4:10 a.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported three men wearing ski masks running across the street. Police looked for them with negative results. 9:00 a.m. — A caller on London Road reported their vehicle was broken into and loose change was taken. No further information was provided.  

11:20 a.m. — A resident of Pheasant Road reported being contacted by an unknown party via email; this person threatened extortion saying he was aware of the resident’s online browsing habits and that if $2000 in Bitcoin wasn’t paid to the extortionist, this information would be publicly revealed. The resident told police they didn’t respond or send money and only wanted a report made for documentation. 

8:00 p.m. — A radar surveillance on Salem Road resulted in zero violations.  


Friday, Jan. 31

3:00 p.m. — A person came to headquarters to report a dog bite. It was unclear if the incident happened on White Birch Road South or if the reporting party lived on that street. The incident was referred to the dog control officer for follow up. 

4:36 p.m. — A caller reported something was taken from their vehicle while parked on Westchester Avenue. No further information was provided.  


Saturday, Feb. 1

5:25 a.m. — A vehicle was reported as suspicious pulling into driveways on Westchester Avenue. Police said it was an Amazon driver using their personal vehicle to make deliveries.  


Sunday, Feb. 2

10:03 a.m. — An activated holdup/robbery alarm was set off by accident at an inn on Westchester Avenue. Police said all was secure.  

11:42 a.m. — A downed tree blocking Horseshoe Hill Road was reported to the highway department for removal.  

3:20 p.m. — An activated holdup/robbery alarm was set off by accident at a home on Salem Road. Police said all was secure.  

8:00 p.m. — Five speeding summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue. All were going at least 20-mph over the posted speed limit.
