Land Conservancy promotes Dave Prosser

The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy has announced the promotion of Dave Prosser to director of land stewardship. 

Since joining the PRLC in April 2023, Prosser has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to PRLC’s work in land conservation and environmental education, the group said.

In his new position, Prosser will lead stewardship and grant writing for PRLC, manage all volunteer programs, and oversee the care and maintenance of 20 preserves with over 12 miles of trails. 

“In less than two years with PRLC, Dave has grown tremendously in the scope of his work he is doing for us as he extends his already-strong skill set with experience in Pound Ridge,” said Jack Wilson, president of the group’s board. “We rely on Dave’s leadership and judgment in areas far beyond his initial responsibilities and we want his title to reflect the expansion of his role with PRLC.”

Prosser is enthusiastic about his new role.

“I am honored to step into this leadership position and am eager to continue working with our dedicated board and the community to promote environmental stewardship and land conservation,” he said.

The promotion comes as the land conservancy celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of land preservation and environmental advocacy.


Caramoor president leaving at end of March

Caramoor President and CEO Edward J. Lewis III will leave the organization March 31 to pursue new opportunities closer to his home in Washington, D.C.

Pound Ridge Police Reports, Feb. 4-10


Tuesday, Feb. 4

6:05 p.m. — A caller reported they’d struck a fox with their car while traveling on Pound Ridge Road; police on arrival saw the fox was dead. It was removed from the roadway and the highway department was notified for pickup.  

6:16 p.m. — A deer struck by a car traveling on Stone Hill Road was reported injured by the driver. On arrival, police saw it suffering and unable to move. The deer was humanely dispatched by the officer and the highway department was notified for pickup.  

 

Wednesday, Feb. 5

4:36 a.m. — A female was transported from her home to Stamford Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.  

8:55 a.m. — A driver traveling on Pound Ridge Road was issued a summons for driving in an uninspected vehicle.  

11:10 a.m. — A female was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.  

8:00 p.m. — Two different drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue were issued speeding tickets. 


Thursday, Feb. 6

9:37 a.m. — A hit-and-run accident was reported on Pound Ridge Road. Police say two cars were involved. One person was transported to Stamford Hospital via Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Both cars were towed. One driver was issued a summons for trying to leave the scene of an accident as well as failure to show their license, having no valid driver’s license and no other identification. 

6:15 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported suspicious activity around their mailbox. Police say the box did appear damaged but believed it had been left open and gusting winds blew the door off.  


Friday, Feb. 7

3:19 a.m. — A male was transported in the company of a medic to Northern Westchester Hospital via Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No further information was provided.  

8:00 a.m. — A man wearing an orange hard hat was reported as suspicious by a caller on Siscowit Road. Police looked for the man with negative results.

10:45 a.m. — A man was transported from his residence by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information wawa provided.

7:00 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle was reported by a caller on Tatomuck Road. Police looked for the vehicle with negative results.


Saturday, Feb. 8

7:20 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, requested medical attention but then declined it after calling for an ambulance. She was evaluated at her home by medics before refusing further attention. 


Sunday, Feb. 9

1:00 a.m. — A car reported as disabled was reported on Kinnicutt Road East. The caller said it was blocking snow removal. Police located the owner who removed the car.


Monday, Feb. 10

9:23 a.m. — A two-car collision reported on Lower Trinity Pass Road resulted in no injuries and no tows.
