Speeding on Westchester Avenue

On Saturday, July 19, at 9:48 a.m., a driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for going 67 in a 30-mph zone. 

Tuesday, July 15

10:00 p.m. —  A summons was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

6:00 p.m. — A disabled vehicle reported disturbing traffic was towed from the scene.  


Wednesday, July 16

9:40 p.m. — Shots were reported by a caller on Westchester Avenue. Police canvassing the area didn’t see or hear anything unusual. 


Thursday, July 17

6:55 a.m. — A tree was reported blocking lanes of traffic on High Ridge Road. The town highway department was notified and cleared the road.  

10:48 a.m. — A one-car collision on Route 172 resulted in the driver being taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stamford Hospital. The car was towed.  

12:30 p.m. — A man, age and condition undisclosed, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by PRVAC.  

3:00 p.m. — Wires were reported on trees on Westchester Avenue. The utility was notified to correct the situation.   

6:00 p.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was taken by PRVAC to Northern Westchester Hospital.  

7:09 p.m. — A tree was reported blocking the roadway on Pine Drive; wires were also down. A utility crew arrived to clear the road.  

9:50 p.m. — A woman, age and condition undisclosed, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by PRVAC. 


Friday, July 18

8:55 a.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue. One for no/expired inspection sticker and the other for incorrect plates.  

9:45 a.m. — A driver who failed to observe a traffic signal was issued a ticket on Westchester Avenue.  

6:12 p.m. — Police responded to an address on Lower Shad Road for a 911 hangup. The resident said it was an accidental call and no assistance was needed.  

8:39 p.m. — A woman, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by PRVAC.  

11:00 p.m. — A woman, age and condition unknown, was taken by PRVAC to Northern Westchester Hospital.  


Saturday, July 19

11:15 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for not having a current inspection sticker.  

5:00 p.m. — Low-hanging wires were reported on Upper Shad Road. The utility was notified.

9:26 p.m. — A caller on Autumn Ridge Road complained about construction vehicles working in the area making a lot of noise after legal work hours. On arrival, police saw the vehicles were parked and turned off and their operators no longer around. 

9:30 p.m.— A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue received a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign.  


Sunday, July 20

11:50 a.m. — A driver traveling on Salem Road was issued a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.


Monday, July 21

11:15 a.m. — A caller on Kinnicut Road reported a neighbor’s landscapers using gas-powered leaf blowers, a violation. Police went to the address but no one was around and the home appeared to be unoccupied. 

7:39 p.m. — A woman, condition and age undisclosed, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by PRVAC
