BEDFORD

Bedford man faces DWI charge

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5:37 p.m., a Bedford man, 69, was arrested at his home after, police said, he left the scene of a hit-and-run collision at South Bedford and Baldwin roads. Police received a call from the operator of the other vehicle who was able to provide license plate information and a description of the other car. She told police that the man got out of his car, yelled at her, and left the scene. Police went to his home and observed the described car in the driveway. He identified himself and confirmed he’d been in a collision but told police because his car wasn’t damaged, he left. While they were talking, police observed his slurred speech. He said he’d had one drink. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and soon after he was brought to headquarters for processing on a charge of driving while intoxicated and given a court date of Oct. 7.

Monday, Sept. 21

10:49 a.m. — The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took a Bedford Hills man, 92, to Northern Westchester Hospital after he reported feeling dizzy. No further information was provided.

3:22 p.m. — Police went to the Hunting Ridge Mall, Bedford, for a report of a disturbance. They spoke with three men in the parking lot who said there was a misunderstanding about pictures taken and some phone grabbing. The phone was returned to its owner and police advised the person who took it that it was never appropriate to grab anyone’s phone from their hand.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

6:51 a.m. — An injured deer reported at  Upper Hook and Old Post roads was gone when police arrived.

5:31 p.m. — A Massachusetts man, 74, told police his brakes malfunctioned on Main Street, Bedford Hills, and that he aimed for a stone wall to stop the car. He declined medical attention despite contusions to his torso from his seat belt. The car was towed.

11:35 p.m. — Police contacted a man walking in the vicinity of the Katonah train station after his wife called the police to say he needed assistance and didn’t have his phone. He was located and given a courtesy ride to his waiting Uber.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

6:04 p.m. — Kids were reported in the area of Woods Bridge and Cross River roads, Katonah, throwing rocks off a cliff. Police didn’t find them.  

Thursday, Sept. 24

4:06 p.m. — Trespassers were reported on the roof of the town’s water pump house in Bedford Village. Police went to the location but saw no one. The building was checked and all appeared secure.

4:50 p.m. — A mangy coyote was reported on Croton Lake Road, Bedford Hills. Police looked for the animal but it had returned to the woods.

5:53 p.m. — A man, possibly ill and in need of assistance, was reported loitering on Katonah Avenue. Police looked for him without success.

9:52 p.m. — A Bedford Village resident reported a golden retriever came onto her property, frightening her and her own dog. She thought the dog lived in her neighborhood and told police which house. Police went to that home but the dog did not belong to anyone living there. The caller was advised to call back if the dog returned.

Friday, Sept. 25

4:37 p.m. — A town employee came to headquarters to report fraud to her spouse’s credit card after there was a cyber breach on her work computer. She told police her computer was hacked. A report was made for documentation.

6:54 p.m. — An ambulance was requested for a Fox Lane student reported to have injured her leg. No further information was available.

Saturday, Sept. 26

4:37 p.m. — Two men were taken to Westchester Medical Center after a rollover collision at Old Post and Stone Hill roads. Police on arrival saw a white utility vehicle lying on its side, its front end damaged after crashing into a tree. The driver, 35, from Danbury, Conn., was found breathing but not conscious. Police said he suffered a head injury. The passenger, 38, also from Danbury, was alert but had a compound fracture of a leg. The vehicle was towed to the police impound.

11:01 p.m. — Police went to a residence on Pound Ridge Road, Bedford, for a noise complaint. The party host said a wedding was just ending. No further action was taken.

LEWISBORO

Monday, Sept. 21

11:55 a.m. — A Goldens Bridge man who reported feeling weak and lethargic following a heart procedure was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

10 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem after a man reported marital problems. He said his wife accused him of infidelity and acted in a disruptive manner while he was working from home. Police did not speak to the wife but said there were no offenses. A New York state domestic incident report was completed. 

Tuesday, Sept. 22

8:35 a.m. — A Goldens Bridge woman cursed at a police officer who came to check on her welfare. She denied the officer entrance to her home and wanted to know why they were checking on her. No further information was provided.

3:02 p.m. — Police went to a home in Goldens Bridge after a woman reported her husband became angry after she tossed his boots into the garage. She claimed he has a drinking problem and they are getting divorced. A New York state domestic incident report was completed and the wife said she would come to headquarters at another time to complete a domestic lethality screen form. 

Wednesday, Sept. 23

3:30 p.m. — A caller reported his dog was attacked by another dog while he was walking on Fairmont Road, Goldens Bridge. His dog was leashed, the other dog was not. A bystander helped him separate the dogs. His dog wasn’t injured. Police searched the area for the described dog without success. 

7 p.m. — A South Salem teenager, 16, was reported missing by his father who said he ran away from home after a stash of marijuana gummies was discovered in his room. His father told police his son ran into the woods. Police located the son who said he was afraid of his father. The father told police he would leave the residence for the evening. Other relatives said they would stay with the boy until his mother came home. 

Thursday, Sept. 24

10:05 a.m. — A South Salem resident came to headquarters to turn in property belonging to her deceased father. A Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum handgun was taken into safekeeping. 

7:45 p.m. — An ambulance crew and police went to a home in South Salem to assist a resident who reported that they were feeling light-headed. The individual was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

Friday, Sept. 25

7:58 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem after an argument was reported between a caregiver and the person who pays her to care for the resident. The caregiver said there was a discrepancy in her paycheck. The person who writes the checks told police she pays the caregiver $300 a day to care for her mother and the check reflected the four days of work. The argument continued and the caregiver said she would take the issue to civil court and left in an Uber. 

8:55 p.m. — A man pulled over in Cross River for darkly tinted windows and an expired inspection sticker was charged with driving while intoxicated after police observed an open container of White Claw Hard Seltzer on the front passenger seat floorboards and detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests were initiated. The subject admitted to drinking alcohol and was placed under arrest. He was taken to headquarters where he was issued multiple summonses and his car was impounded. Someone arrived at the station to drive him home. 

Saturday, Sept. 26

4:49 p.m. — A South Salem resident with Alzheimer’s disease was reported acting in an aggressive manner; on police arrival the party was sleepy and confused. They were taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Vista Fire Department volunteers. 

7:40 p.m. — A red Honda parked with its lights off was observed by police who were patrolling the park and playground area in the vicinity of Elmwood Road. Inside the car were four males. Police know one of the men who is not a Lewisboro resident. They were all told to leave the park. 

Sunday, Sept. 27

4:10 p.m. — A pedestrian attempting to help a raccoon believed to have been struck by a car on North Salem Road was assisted by police; the person thought the animal was showing signs of being rabid. As it was in an area unsafe to put it down, police watched it walk off into the woods. 

POUND RIDGE

Tuesday, Sept. 22

6:20 p.m. — A man was taken by Westchester EMS and the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stamford Hospital from his Cross Pond Road home. No further information was provided.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

6:10 a.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance from her Westchester Avenue home to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.

11:02 a.m. — A driver on Stone Hill Road was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign.

1 p.m. — The operator of a commercial vehicle traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for no splash guards, an equipment violation.

5:34 p.m. — A driver on Highview Road was issued a summons for failure to obey a traffic-control device.

5:48 p.m. — A driver on Highview Road was ticketed for failure to obey a traffic-control device.

Thursday, Sept. 24

4:30 p.m. — A vehicle reported as suspicious on White Birch Road turned out to belong to a neighbor, who said they’d move the car to their own driveway.

5:18 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported an obstruction in the roadway. Police could not locate it.

8:35 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for driving an unregistered vehicle.

Friday, Sept. 25

8:42 a.m. — A driver was ticketed for doing 55 mph in a 30 mph zone on Westchester Avenue.

10:47 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for using a portable electronic device while behind the wheel. 

1:30 p.m. — Police taped off a portion of Austin Hill Road due to wires down. The utility was notified.

 Saturday, Sept. 26

6:11 a.m. — Police responded to a tree reported down on Kitchawan Road. Wires were down. Firefighters responded and the utility was notified.

7:14 a.m. — A tree was reported down on Highcliff Terrace. The highway department was notified.

8:11 a.m. — Trees on wires were reported on Eastwoods Road. The utility was notified.

8:28 a.m. — A tree was reported down on Pheasant Road. Wires were involved. The utility was notified.

8:50 a.m. — A tree was reported blocking a driveway on Pound Ridge Road.  

9 a.m. —A caller on Barnegat Road reported a tree on wires.

9 a.m. — A caller on West Lane reported a tree down, wires down and the road blocked.

9:18 a.m. — A caller on Trinity Pass Lane reported a tree on wires.

10:51 a.m. — A caller on Hack Green Road reported a tree limb down; they said power to their home was affected. Patrol arrived and taped off the area due to traffic. The utility was notified.

11:08 a.m. — Wires and tree limbs down were reported on Barnegat Road.  

7 p.m. — An officer removed a tree limb obstructing traffic on High Ridge Road.

Sunday, Sept. 27

12:01 a.m. — Downed trees were reported blocking the roadway on Upper Shad Road.

MOUNT KISCO

Uber outrage triggers arrest

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:19 p.m., officers responded to Burger King on North Bedford Road on a report of a woman blocking the drive-thru instead of going inside to pick up her Uber Eats order.

Store staff said the woman ordered food through the online app and tried to pick up the order at the drive-thru. She was told that such food orders must be picked up inside.

She refused to do so and remained in the lane, blocking traffic behind her. Responding officers directed her to move the vehicle and she refused, even after being told she would be arrested. 

Police said she was taken into custody and charged with obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor. Her vehicle was moved and left in a parking spot in the restaurant’s lot with management’s permission. She was booked at Westchester County police headquarters in Hawthorne and is due to return to court on Oct. 8.

Sunday, Sept. 20

3:07 a.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man lying on the sidewalk at Main Street and Moore Avenue. He was intoxicated. EMS was requested.

3:18 a.m. — A Main Street bar owner reported that an ex-girlfriend threw a plate at him and slapped him during a dispute over money. The owner declined to press charges but wanted the woman removed from the premises. The woman was escorted from the premises without incident.

4:51 a.m. — A North Moger Avenue resident reported that a group of friends were drinking behind his residence and he wanted them to leave. 

1:22 p.m. — Police received a report of a man sleeping outside a South Moger Avenue bar. He was intoxicated and EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded and took him to a hospital for evaluation.

3:13 p.m. — A woman arrived at the Green Street precinct to report a road rage incident that had just occurred. The woman said she was driving on Main Street near Green Street when a vehicle attempted to pass her but could not. At South Bedford Road, the driver of the other vehicle got out of his car and began cursing at her. She proceeded to Lexington Avenue where she observed the vehicle still following her and she decided to drive to the precinct. She reported that the other vehicle may have turned onto Smith Avenue as she drove toward the precinct. An officer canvassed the area but did not locate the other vehicle.

6:13 p.m. — An intoxicated man was found behind Village Hall on Main Street. The responding officer requested EMS to take the man to a hospital for evaluation.

Monday, Sept. 21

3:07 a.m. — Multiple officers responded to Maple Avenue on a report of a man walking down the street with a machete. Officers located a man fitting the description but did not have a machete. 

9:45 a.m. — An officer on patrol at Barker Street and Carpenter Avenue observed a man sleeping on a bench. The man was found to be intoxicated and complained of back pain. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to evaluate him and also determined one of his legs was swollen. He was taken to a hospital for continued care.

2:28 p.m. — Officers responded to Barker Street on a report of a domestic dispute. The incident was verbal only between a father and his adult son. The son agreed to leave the residence for a while to defuse the situation.

4:08 p.m. — A caller reported that their car was missing from a Dakin Avenue parking lot. The vehicle was located upon an officer’s arrival.

5:48 p.m. — An officer observed two men sharing a beer on private property at Lexington and Sarles avenues. The officer issued the two men, ages 55 and 48, summonses for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. At the request of the property owner, the men were also issued formal trespass warnings. The 55-year-old man became aggressive when an officer was escorting him off the property and was also charged with disorderly conduct, a violation.

8:09 p.m. — A complaint was received from a Barker Street resident regarding fireworks or possible gunshots in the area. Officers determined that a person had set off some fireworks on Valley View Terrace. 

Tuesday, Sept. 22

10:21 a.m. — Officers responded to the Mount Kisco Public Library on a report of a domestic dispute outside involving a father and a teenager. The dispute was verbal in nature only. The father consented to allowing the child to be taken to the Green Street precinct to be picked up by their mother. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared.

10:21 a.m. — Officers responded to an area behind stores on South Moger Avenue on a report of a man sitting on a bench yelling and spitting at passersby. Officers spoke with the man and requested that the Mobile Crisis Response Team respond. When team members arrived, the man was left in their care.

5:50 p.m. — An officer on patrol in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue observed a man known to him to have outstanding warrants issued by the Mount Kisco Justice Court. The officer also observed the man drinking a beer. The man, 55, was charged with two counts of trespass and was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, all violations. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and arraigned in village court. He was sent to the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla in lieu of $1,500 bail. He is due back in court Oct. 1.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

4:40 a.m. — The owner of a Lexington Avenue deli reported that a man was screaming and causing a disturbance in the parking lot outside the business. Condition corrected.

6:11 p.m. — Report of a man behaving erratically at a bus stop on South Moger Avenue. Officers spoke with the man and determined he did not require medical attention. The man called for a taxi to take him home.

11:19 p.m. — A Barker Street resident called police to report being harassed by two men who made drawings of him on the sidewalk in front of his building.

Thursday, Sept. 24

11:45 a.m. — Police responded to a report of low-hanging wires over private property on Hillside Avenue. The caller was unsure if the wires were cable or electrical. The responding officer and the Mount Kisco Volunteer Fire Department determined there was no immediate hazard.

8:42 p.m. — A resident came to the Green Street precinct to report observing two suspicious vehicles with New Jersey license plates on Grandview Drive earlier in the day. The resident said the two vehicles would move away each time he headed in their direction as he walked his dog. He was able to provide the license plate number of one of the cars. A report was prepared.
