Pound Ridge

Produce stand shorted on green

On Saturday, Sept. 6, the proprietor of a honor-system fruit and vegetable stand located on Pound Ridge Road told police a woman or two women took $20 worth of produce but left only $5 in payment which could be construed as dishonorable. 


Wednesday, Sept. 3

9:40 a.m. — A caller on Waring Road reported their neighbor was violating a local ordinance regarding gas leaf blowers. Police could not locate the alleged offender.

9:16 p.m. — An injured deer was reported on Westchester Avenue. Police  could not locate it.  


Thursday, Sept. 4

10:03 p.m. — A male, age, nature of condition unknown, was cared for by Westchester EMS. It is unknown if he was treated on scene or transported. 

5:30 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for failure to obey a stop sign.  


Friday, Sept. 5

2:30 a.m. — A tree was reported blocking the roadway on High Ridge Road. An officer on scene removed debris from the roadway which unblocked the road. 

9:50 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, refused medical attention after calling for help. 

12:30 p.m. — Wires were reported down on High Ridge Road. The utility was notified. 

12:52 p.m. — A caller on Trinity Pass Road reported their neighbor was illegally using a gas leaf blower. Police saw no blower in use but someone using power tools in their own garage. No violations were observed. 

2:33 p.m. — A Fancher Road caller reported someone using a gas leaf blower. Due to a high volume of calls at the time, police were unable to get there to witness any violators. 

6:15 p.m. — A London Road landscaper was just leaving when police arrived following up on a complaint about a violation of local ordinance. The landscaper was informed of the rules.  


Saturday, Sept. 6

8:07 a.m. — The road was reportedly blocked on Pheasant Road West due to downed wires. The utility was notified.  

3:57 p.m. — Wires were reported down on Westchester Avenue. Police couldn’t locate them.  

4:20 p.m. —A landscaper notified police of the road blocked on Sherwood Road. Police saw wires on trees and removed the wires. The landscaper said he would take care of the trees.  


Sunday, Sept. 7

2:33 p.m.— A male, age and condition unknown, was taken by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital.  


Monday, Sept. 8

8:05 a.m.—A two -ar collision on London Road resulted in no injuries. One car was towed. 

Bedford

Multiple arrests

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 4:25 p.m., a Mount Kisco woman, 57, was arrested at her home by Bedford Police, charged with petty larceny. Police say she stole items from a supermarket multiple times, even after she’d been trespassed. She was compliant and brought to headquarters for processing and released on her own recognizance. She returns to court Sept. 10. 


On Monday, Sept. 8, a resident of Brooklyn, male, 26, was arrested  in New York City, where he was being held by the New York Police Department,  charged with a robbery he was involved in three years ago in Bedford Hills when he and two accomplices stole a car battery from an auto shop on Bedford Road. One of the three was identified and arrested in April 2024. A third man is still at large. This man was brought to headquarters and processed and released on his own recognizance. He returns to court Sept. 17. 


On Monday, Sept. 8, at 4:36 a.m., a female resident of Greenwich, Conn., was arrested while parked in front of St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford; police found her slumped in the driver’s seat. The car was in park with the engine running. The woman was unresponsive when the officer banged on the window and  flashed a light in her face. Access was gained to the vehicle by breaking the passenger side window. When she woke up police said she was confused and didn’t know how she’d gotten to Bedford. There was a strong odor of burning marijuana in the car and the officer observed several small, empty plastic bags. Outside the car, she was unable to stand on her own. An ambulance was called. She was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford ambulance, uncooperative. Police left her in the hands of hospital staff. Summonses were issued and her car was towed. She is to appear in court Sept. 17. 


Monday, Sept. 1

8:28 a.m. — A mulch fire reported in the median in a parking lot in Bedford Hills was extinguished by Bedford Hills firefighters. There were no injuries. 

9:59 a.m. — Police, firefighters and the Westchester County hazmat team descended on a yard on Mustato Road, Katonah, after the homeowner called for help when his battery-powered lawnmower caught on fire. On arrival, the mower was fully engulfed in flames. Katonah firefighters extinguished the fire. The hazmat team was requested to remove the toxic battery.    

11:44 a.m. — A resident of Bedford, female, 39, refused medical attention after her car crashed into a stone wall on Cantitoe Road near Matthew Mills Road. Police say she was speeding and her car left the pavement, drove over a large rock and hit the wall. Her car was towed. No summonses were issued.  

1:13 p.m. — A man from Bedford Hills was taken to Westchester Medical Center by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for evaluation after his mother said he was having a “breakdown and emotional crisis.”


Tuesday, Sept. 2

10:22 a.m. — A gardener working at a residence on Mount Holly Road, Katonah, accidentally activated a security alarm when she went inside to use the bathroom. She told police she forgot the alarm was set. Police spoke to her and the homeowner who said there was no problem.   

10:34 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a Bedford Hills third grader who did not arrive at school or get on the school bus. The principal of West Patent Elementary School notified police. The student’s mother was contacted; she thought her son did get on the bus. The boy was located in his own driveway. His mother said he used to walk to school and forgot he was supposed to get on the bus.  

11:24 a.m. — A mail carrier in Bedford Hills called 911 to report seeing an elderly woman lying on the floor of their home, unable to get up. Police and firefighters forced entry to the home and the resident, 89, was conscious and alert. She told first responders she thought she’d been on the floor for three days. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 


Wednesday, Sept. 3

10:54 a.m. — A pharmacist at the CVS on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, reported a woman with short brown hair who came behind the counter to grab her own medication. The woman was not on scene when police arrived. The pharmacist provided police with her information and said they wanted her trespassed. Police contacted this individual and told her she would have to find another pharmacy to have her prescriptions filled.  


Thursday, Sept. 4

9:30 a.m. — A medium-sized black dog reported found on Oliver Road, Bedford, was not at the location when police arrived. Police found neither the dog nor the reporting party.  

10:49 a.m. — A homeowner on Main Street, Bedford Hills, reported someone removed his lawn signs. A report was made for documentation. The homeowner said he’s installing cameras.  

11:57 a.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills to speak to a man who said his wife was mad at him because he was in the home. When they spoke to his wife, she agreed that was the problem. A New York state domestic incident report was made.

9:31 p.m. — A house and pet sitter who accidentally locked herself out of a Katonah residence was assisted in locating a locksmith after police were unable to gain entry. 


Friday, Sept. 5

2:27 p.m. —  Two patients were reported fighting at a medical business on Bedford Road, Katonah. An employee said she thought one of them  might have been under the influence of something; the police disagreed. Rude comments were exchanged. Police advised both parties to leave each other alone. 

4:01 p.m. — Two neighbors who don’t get along at an apartment complex in Katonah were advised by police to steer clear of each other after one party reported the other removing or hiding her mail and recording her. 

5:53 p.m. — A dog reported as left unattended in a running car was fine when police arrived and spoke to its owner, a resident of Lincolndale, who said he’d left it in the air conditioned car while he ran inside a Katonah business to pick up some food.  


Saturday, Sept. 6

11:53 a.m. — Police went to CVS on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, for a reported disturbance caused by a man the pharmacist wanted trespassed. 

2:59 p.m. — A resident of Stamford, Conn., male, 33,  was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters for head contusions following a one-car crash on Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah. He told police his car hydroplaned and hit a utility pole.  


Sunday, Sept. 7

8:47 a.m. — Police conducted a welfare check at a residence in Bedford after a concerned party reported the resident, 88, had not answered his weekly call. The man answered the door and said he’d gotten home late and he would call the concerned party to let them know he is OK.   

2:17 p.m. — A male, 13, exited his driveway in Katonah on his bicycle and collided with an oncoming car. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center by the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps for bleeding to his head. The driver said the bike just appeared and hit them. No citations were issued.  

Lewisboro

Mischievous pony takes a stroll 

On Saturday, Sept. 6, at 9:41 a.m., a pony was reported walking by itself on Smith Ridge Road, South Salem. On arrival, police saw two people holding a brown and white miniature pony by its harness. They thought it belonged to a farm on Waccabuc River Lane. That farm was contacted but said it wasn’t their pony. Wilton and New Canaan police were contacted to find out if anyone reported a missing pony. Eventually the owner contacted the police. She said she didn’t have a trailer. Police followed her slowly in their vehicle as she handwalked the pony home. 


Monday, Sept. 1

12:30 a.m. — Criminal mischief was reported in Goldens Bridge. Lewisboro Police met with Bedford Police on Route 22 near Deer Park Road to talk to a vehicle owner after criminal mischief was reported in Goldens Bridge. An Ossining man said he’d left the car in a parking lot overnight. He said he was in the car with his girlfriend when his BMW suddenly stopped running and all the dash lights came on. A mechanic/tow was summoned who told him someone put sugar or salt in his gas tank. Police observed some build-up near the fuel door. It was scraped off and put into evidence. The girlfriend told police she has a stalking issue with her ex. Things have escalated since she started dating the BMW owner. Police are following up. 

3:40 p.m. — Police, Goldens Bridge firefighters and Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to a residence in Katonah for a female, 7, having seizures. After she was evaluated on scene, her parents declined further medical attention. 


Tuesday, Sept. 2

2:50 p.m. — Police went to a home in Katonah for a female reported choking on a chicken nugget. Her mother dislodged it with a firm strike to her back. EMS arrived but no further attention was requested. 

6:10 p.m. — A Goldens Bridge resident called the police to say there was a snake inside her bedroom. Police found a very small black snake which they picked up with a grabber and tossed from the apartment. 


Wednesday, Sept. 3

2:20 p.m. — A Cross River woman reported to police she received a letter regarding a loan she never took out. She was provided with identity theft paperwork to give to the Federal Trade Commission. 

4:33 p.m. — Police conducted a traffic stop at routes 35 and 121 for a black Acura with expired registration. It soon came to light the operator had a suspended license, suspended registration and no insurance. The car was towed and the operator issued a number of tickets including one to appear in court Sept. 29. 

7:35 p.m. — A contractor working on a home on Mount Holly Road, Katonah, reported more than a dozen windows broken, 800 square feet of drywall damaged, and 100 feet of copper piping stolen from the property, which is in foreclosure. He had an idea who was responsible. He said a report was made about this damage in 2024. Police took down his information for documentation.

10:00 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to report custodial interference regarding children he shares with his soon-to-be ex wife. 


Thursday, Sept. 4

7:27 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for an intoxicated male, 53, who said he’d drunk a lot of vodka and was having a few bad days. Vista EMS and Westchester EMS were on scene. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation. 

5:40 p.m. — An unattended firepit ignited at a home on Church Tavern Road, South Salem. The homeowner said he was burning wood and went into the house. Fire officials told him he had to move the pit 50 feet away from the home and never to leave it unattended. The man apologized and said he would comply. 


Friday, Sept. 5

5:10 p.m. — A bee sting victim in Katonah was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

6:25 p.m. — Police pulled a driver over on Route 123 for speeding. The operator showed an international driver’s license novelty card. Police said he has no valid license. A Vermont registration affixed to the vehicle came back to an entirely different car. A tow was called and the operator was issued five tickets. 


Saturday, Sept. 6

11:44 a.m. — An oven fire was reported at a residence in Waccabuc. A woman said she was baking cupcakes when she saw a fire. South Salem firefighters on scene said there was no fire. 


Sunday, Sept. 7

5:08 p.m. — A male, 74, was taken from his home in South Salem to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining of weakness.
