POUND RIDGE
Tuesday, Oct. 21
4:16 p.m. — Wires were reported down on Lower Shad Road. Police on arrival saw a broken tree limb hanging over the roadway. The highway department was notified.
5:13 p.m. — During a traffic detail on Salem Road, three summonses were issued: one for disobeying a traffic signal; no valid license; and no registration.
9:32 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Long Ridge Road. On arrival they saw a driver with a flat tire waiting for tow assistance. Police remained on scene until the tire was changed.
Wednesday, Oct. 22
6:52 a.m. — A woman, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
7:00 p.m. — Radar picked up a speeder on Westchester Avenue. The person was clocked going 49 mph in a 30-mph zone. They were ticketed.
Friday, Oct. 24
9:40 a.m. — A driver on Upper Shad Road was issued a summons for improper plates.
9:55 a.m. — A one-car crash on Westchester Avenue resulted in no injuries. The car was towed.
10:39 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
3:25 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Saturday, Oct. 25
10:45 a.m. — A caller on Siscowit Road reported an animal “acting rabid.” Police searched for the animal but could not find it.
11:55 a.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: one for no inspection; and one for improper plates.
Sunday, Oct. 26
10:45 a.m. — An overdose was reported. No further information was provided.
Monday, Oct. 27
8:57 a.m. — A hazardous condition was reported on Trinity Pass Road. The caller indicated the problem stemmed from a telephone crew working in the area. Police cruised by and saw the crew working but no identifiable hazards.
BEDFORD
Vehicle crashed woods, owner leaves country
On Friday, Oct. 24, at 5:08 p.m., a hiker walking in a wooded area in the vicinity of the Beaver Dam overpass and Interstate 684 reported a vehicle in the woods. Police said it was involved in a crash in the middle of the night when there was little traffic. The hiker sent police pictures from their phone and escorted them to the exact location where the vehicle, unoccupied, was found. State police were requested to send their canine unit and Bedford Police employed a drone and their UTV to search for the driver. The vehicle registration came back to a Torrington, Conn., man and that agency was contacted. A Connecticut officer went to that address where they learned the man had left the country. New York State Police provided the information that he left the scene of the collision to walk to a Park & Ride where he got a ride to the city and then went directly to the airport where he got on a plane. Bedford Police said they know of no warrants for the man’s arrest or if the crash was intentional.
Woman accused of defying court order
On Friday, Oct. 24, at 9:04 p.m., a resident of Newburgh was arrested and charged with criminal contempt. A third party who lives on a property on Baldwin Road called the police after seeing her vehicle trespassing; there is an active court order for her to stay away. The tenant told police he saw her knocking on his landlord’s door. She was located lurking on the premises and admitted knocking on the door. She was arrested and brought to headquarters for processing. She requested a mental health evaluation and then refused transport. She was released on her own recognizance and given a summons to appear in court Oct. 25.
Monday, Oct. 20
10:29 a.m. — A collision was reported at Parkway and Bedford Road, Katonah. Police responding couldn’t find any sign of a crash.
4:48 p.m. — Two lanes of traffic were blocked in Bedford on Pound Ridge Road due to a transformer exploding. Bedford Village firefighters were on scene and the utility was notified.
Tuesday, Oct. 21
11:47 a.m. — A Waccabuc resident who owns a business in Bedford Hills reported he learned of a fake bank account that was opened using his name. He said he received a debit card in the mail with his business name on it and the name of an unknown female. He went to the bank to sort it out. They froze the account and are investigating.
7:27 p.m. — Police went to an address in Bedford Hills for a dog struck by a car. The homeowner said the dog bolted from the house and into the roadway where it was struck by a car that kept going. Due to the size of the dog, police assisted the family getting it into their car to take to their veterinarian. The dog was observed dead by the officer. Medical assistance was offered to the homeowner who was distraught; he declined. Police said to contact them if they learned any new information about the hit-and-run driver.
Wednesday, Oct. 22
7:20 a.m. — A pedestrian struck by a car in the parking lot of a business on Haines Road was taken by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital for minor scraping to her knee and elbow. The driver said he didn’t see her as he was backing out.
12:16 p.m — Police went to an address on Guard Hill Road, Bedford, after a woman reported someone removed her handbag from her car that was parked in her driveway. Police located her purse on the property and say it was misplaced, not stolen.
Thursday, Oct. 23
9:51 a.m. — A taxi driver called the police in a parking lot in Bedford Hills after a rider fell and couldn’t get up as she approached his cab. Police found her sitting and feeling weak. She refused medical attention after medics examined her.
Friday, Oct. 24
9:42 a.m. — An employee who had a seizure in the kitchen of a Bedford Village restaurant was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters.
12:15 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Village when they were alerted by a protective services agency that the elderly resident might be a victim of fraud by a younger relative who shares an account. The man told the police he is aware his niece removes money from the account and has no problem with it. Police said he wasn’t very good at answering questions and he was transported by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital for a medical evaluation. They say no crime was committed.
3:56 p.m. — A two-car collision on Bedford Road at Edna Avenue, Bedford Hills, resulted in two men being taken for head injuries to Westchester Medical Center. One car was towed. Both men, police said, live in Bedford Hills.
Saturday, Oct. 25
9:12 a.m. — A resident of Bedford Hills, 76, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Mount Kisco ambulance after she fell out of bed and injured her elbow.
Sunday, Oct. 26
3:57 p.m. — A Katonah woman and a Mount Kisco woman were both taken to hospitals following a crash on South Bedford Road near McLain Street. The Katonah woman went to Westchester Medical Center for neck pain and the Mount Kisco woman went to Northern Westchester Hospital for chest pain.
LEWISBORO
Problematic paver
On Monday, Oct. 20, at 1:02 p.m., a Katonah resident told police that she gave an unlicensed contractor whose name she didn’t know $5,000 to repave her driveway. Soon after he began showing up unannounced demanding another $2,500. She said their agreement was verbal only and they never had a contract. She provided police with what little information she had regarding their credit card transaction. They told her to block his number and call them immediately should he show up again.
Monday, Oct. 20
8:50 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a male, 45, who fell on his porch the night before. He told police he made his way inside to a couch, but now couldn’t get up. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
3:10 p.m. — Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Laurel Road, South Salem. Police searched the area without result.
5:35 p.m. — A woman was reported on property she’s been court-ordered to stay away from at residence in South Salem. An unknown third party reported her trespassing. Police said there is a valid order of protection on file. Police looked for her without result. The person who is protected by the court order said she had not seen the unwanted party since her last arrest. She was advised to let police know if she came to the residence.
Tuesday, Oct. 21
4:00 p.m. — A dog was reported struck in a South Salem driveway. The operator said he felt a bump under his rear tires and then saw the dog deceased. The dog’s owner was on scene.
6:07 p.m. — Police went to Benedict Road, South Salem, to serve a court ordered appearance ticket to the owner of an unlicensed dog. The recipient said she would contact the town government about getting the dog licensed.
Wednesday, Oct. 22
9:15 a.m. — Police assisted Westchester County Police and North Salem Police with lockdown drills at North Salem Middle and High schools and Pequenakonck Elementary School.
3:31 p.m. — A summons was attempted to be issued to a Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River, resident for their unlicensed dog.
3:34 p.m. — Police went to a South Salem home to deliver a court summons to a resident regarding their unlicensed dog. No one came to the door. Two more homes were contacted during this day regarding unlicensed dogs; one on Truesdale Woods Road, South Salem, the other on Five Ponds Drive, Waccabuc. That resident came to the door and was served. She remarked the dogs belong to her ex-husband who is briefly staying at the house. Police advised her not to ignore the court date and said she could explain her situation to the court.
7:28 p.m. — Police went to a home on Gideon Reynolds Road, Cross River, at the request of a woman who was concerned about her parents. She said her former boyfriend had at one time threatened to hurt them and she hadn’t heard from them all day. The mother was home and told police she’d misplaced her phone and there was no land line. The father was in the city. All was fine.
Thursday, Oct. 23
7:55 a.m. — A man driving a blue Mercury Mountaineer with temporary Connecticut plates was pulled over for a traffic stop on West Lane. The operator and the passenger had a story to explain the plates that didn’t wash and it was soon revealed the plates were meant to be on an entirely different car. This car was impounded and towed and the operator transported to headquarters where they were issued multiple tickets and a mandatory court date of Nov. 10.
2:25 p.m. — A man was reported sitting in the grass off Route 35, South Salem. He provided police with his name but declined to provide an address or date of birth. He said he was traveling to the ocean. He refused assistance and got up to continue walking.
9:35 p.m. — A woman was transported from her South Salem home to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps after falling and injuring her hip or upper leg. She said she was unable to get up.
Friday, Oct. 24
3:45 p.m. — A mother approached an officer at the shopping center in Cross River to say two high school boys chased her middle school-aged son home from the shopping center. She said it wasn’t the first time and the son doesn’t know the boys. She was advised to contact the middle school to help identify the boys and possibly speak with their parents. Police also invited her to come to the police station to make a report of the incidents.
Saturday, Oct. 25
1:40 p.m. — A car traveling east on Route 35, Cross River, drove off the right shoulder, traveled 120 feet in a ditch and then struck a rock, causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver was extricated and taken to Danbury Hospital to be treated for a severe scalp injury.
MOUNT KISCO
Saturday, Oct. 18
1:36 a.m. — A man on Maple Avenue reported that he was experiencing a severe headache and neck pain. An officer and the Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to assist him. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital.
3:45 p.m. — An officer on patrol was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a man who wanted to report a scam. The man said he paid $195 via an app to see an apartment that was supposedly for rent on West Street. All communications ceased when he declined to provide an additional $400 to get to see the apartment.
5:25 p.m. — An officer responded to Target on North Bedford Road to issue a trespass warning to an Armonk woman at the request of management. The formal notice was issued and the woman was advised she would face arrest if she returned to the store.
10:01 p.m. — A Lundy Lane resident reported that a person in their home was refusing their request to leave. As officers responded, the resident called back to say that the unwanted party left after police were contacted.
Sunday, Oct. 19
12:18 a.m. — A man called police from an East Main Street gas station to report that he had been robbed. The man was gone upon officers’ arrival and no one was present in the area. Multiple calls to the alleged victim’s cellphone went to voicemail.
2:36 a.m. — Officers responded to Carpenter Avenue on a report of a man experiencing stomach pain and eye irritation. The Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and took the man to the hospital.
Monday, Oct. 20
10:27 a.m.— An officer responded to Foxwood Circle to assist a woman in her 70s who was feeling dizzy. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and took the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
12:56 p.m. — A hit-and-run crash was reported at Diplomat Towers. A woman said her vehicle was damaged while parked in the complex’s lot.
3:11 p.m. — A welfare check was requested for a man lying on the sidewalk on North Moger Avenue. The man was determined to be intoxicated. EMS was requested to take him to the hospital for evaluation
Tuesday, Oct. 21
4:13 p.m. — A man spoke with an officer on Green Street to report that his son was being bullied at school and he believes school officials aren’t doing anything about it. He asked for a report to be prepared to document his concern. An officer prepared a brief report and also shared the man’s concern with the school principal.
5:30 p.m. — A man who found an ID card belonging to another person turned it over to an officer. The officer was able to locate the ID card’s owner at a local deli and return it to him.
9:07 p.m. — A false report was received regarding a Westchester County police officer that supposedly needed help from other officers in front of the Mount Kisco Public Library. The source of the false report remains under investigation.
10:12 p.m. — A woman reported that her daughter has been receiving harassing phone calls from several other youths. She said she wanted to report the matter to police in advance of filing a complaint with school officials and the school resource officer at the schools that the other youths attend.
Wednesday, Oct. 22
2:38 a.m. — An officer responded to Stop & Shop on North Bedford Road to escort a store employee into the premises at her request. The employee was checking on a suspected water leak and did not want to enter the store alone. The employee found an open refrigerator door that was the source of the leak and secured that door. The officer remained with her until she exited the store.
7:26 a.m. — A West Street resident reported that someone slashed her tires overnight while her car was parked near West and Elm streets, causing an estimated $520 in damage. The victim reported an ongoing dispute with another person and believes that person might be responsible. An officer canvassed nearby residences but was unable to locate any home security video capturing the incident. The matter was turned over to detectives for continued investigation.
9:49 a.m. — Police received a report of a man having a seizure on Radio Circle. Upon arrival, an officer was advised that the man might have also hit his head during a fall caused by the seizure. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to provide care and a transport to the hospital.
Thursday, Oct. 23
5:58 p.m. — A complaint was received about a dump truck illegally parked on Boltis Street. A summons was issued.
9:21 p.m. — Two men, ages 25 and 27, were issued summonses for disorderly conduct, a violation, after they caused a disturbance on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue. Officers were called to the location by a person who said he was being harassed by two men, one of whom was standing on the hood of a car yelling obscenities. Officers dispersed a crowd that had gathered, and the vehicle owner reported that her car was not damaged. Two men, however, continued to create a disturbance and yell obscenities, resulting in the issuance of summonses returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on Oct. 30.
