Pound Ridge

Tuesday, Aug. 26 

10:15 p.m. — A caller on South Bedford Road reported a bat inside the house. Police arrived and were able to confine it to a bathroom. Wildlife services were called to remove the bat. 


Wednesday, Aug. 27 

8:05 a.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported a delivery truck was blocking a driveway. The operator was just leaving when police arrived. 

1:05 p.m. — Noisy leaf blowers were reported by a caller on Eastwoods Road. Police looked for signs of landscapers but didn’t find them or hear any noise. 

2:15 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

3:10 p.m. — A two-car collision on Westchester Avenue resulted in no injuries and no tow.  

6:30 p.m. — A disagreement between neighbors on Hack Green Road was reported to the police, who provided no information as to the nature of the dispute. 

10:50 p.m. — A radar detail on Westchester Avenue resulted in no violations observed. 


Thursday, Aug. 28

9:45 a.m — Four summonses were issued to the operator of a pickup truck pulling a dual-axle utility trailer because of an inoperable brake light.

1:40 p.m.— A female, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  


Friday, Aug. 29 

9:39 a.m. — A dog on Calf Pasture Lane was reported for nonstop barking. Police wrote a letter to the dog’s owner warning of local barking laws. 

2:30 p.m. — A suspicious person was reported by a caller on Autumn Ridge Road. No details were provided by police as to the outcome of the reporting.  


Sunday, Aug. 31 

1:50 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

5:45 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported an erratic driver. Police looked for the vehicle but couldn’t locate it.  


Monday, Sept. 1 

11:40 a.m. — A one-car collision on Fancher Road resulted in no injuries and no tow.  

1:30 p.m. — A caller reported an unknown person “down on the bike path.” Police looked for the individual without result.  

12:50 p.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was transported by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to  Northern Westchester Hospital.  

Bedford

Bedford Hills man charged with assault

On Monday, Aug. 25, at 8:32 p.m., a resident of Bedford Hills, male, 62, was arrested after police responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic incident in Bedford Hills. They were met outside the home by a man who said he’d argued with his girlfriend; she was inside the residence bleeding from her nose. He was arrested on scene and arraigned before a judge and scheduled to appear in court the next day. He was released on his own recognizance and given another date in court in September. The woman went to the hospital for treatment and was granted a stay-away order. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.  


Monday, Aug. 18

8:38 a.m. — Two people on Harris Road, Katonah, reported their unlocked vehicles were rummaged overnight in their condo parking lot. Nothing was reported taken. Video surveillance provided by another neighbor showed individuals walking through the lot around 4:30 a.m. pulling on door handles. Police advised everyone to lock their car doors.  

12:30 p.m. — A Katonah resident complained about a paving/sealing company parking their vehicles in front of a residence in the vicinity of Katonahs Wood Road and Croton Lake Road. Police spoke with the contractors who said they were just leaving.  

6:38 p.m. — A driver pulled over on Harris Road at the Interstate 684 overpass for tinted windows and an obscured license plate gave an officer a hard time, refusing to show his license, insurance card or registration. The officer called for backup and a lieutenant and a detective arrived. The operator changed his mind and presented the requested documents. He was admonished for his behavior and released with a warning.  


Tuesday, Aug. 19

2:07 a.m. — Police and Bedford Hills firefighters went to a home on Old Wagon Road, Bedford, responding to a CO activation. Entry to the garage was gained and carbon monoxide levels were detected. A golf cart parked in the garage was determined to be the culprit. Firefighters moved the cart outside the home and reset the alarm.  

5:42 p.m. — A man reported sitting in his car for hours in Katonah was gone on police arrival.  


Wednesday, Aug. 20

1:59 p.m. — A former CVS employee in Bedford Hills came to headquarters to report a dispute between herself and another co-worker at the pharmacy that happened in June. Police advised that she avoid contact with this person and avoid patronizing that particular CVS.   

3:45 p.m. — An Old Post Road, Bedford, resident made a complaint to police regarding possible missing paperwork, specifically her grandmother’s checkbook and social security card, which she thought were related to an estate sale company. She said her grandmother asked them not to touch certain items but they did and left a mess. She said she would continue to look for the items and police told her to contact her grandmother’s banks and also the Social Security Administration.  

10:20 p.m. — Police responded to a reported disturbance in an apartment in Bedford Hills. They spoke with a man who said he’d argued with his roommate. Alcohol was involved and there was some shoving. The other party had left the residence. It was noted by police that multiple people were living in a one-bedroom apartment, privacy provided only by curtain. Code enforcement was notified.  


Friday Aug. 22

9:36 a.m. — A man, 68, was taken from his home in Katonah to Northern Westchester Hospital by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps after experiencing low blood pressure and a high pulse following a recent surgery. 

1:47 p.m. — A possibly sick raccoon was reported in the Bedford Hills Memorial Park. Police saw the animal they said was obviously rabid and dispatched it with one round. A parks department employee said they would dispose of the carcass. 

2:24 p.m. — A grill completely engulfed in flames brought police and firefighters to a home in Bedford Hills. The grill was on a deck and had two attached propane tanks. Police asked all occupants to leave the house and directed Bedford Hills firefighters to the best approach. The fire was extinguished. No one was injured and the house was not damaged.   

4:44 p.m. — A Bedford Hills woman told police her downstairs neighbor had resumed his practice of sending her unwanted texts. She told police she blocked his number nearly three years ago but now he’s back at it. Police spoke to the man and told him to stop texting her.  


Saturday Aug 23

9:15 a.m. — A dead turtle was reported in the road at the intersection of Cherry Street and Valley Road in Katonah. The highway department was notified to remove it.  

9:38 a.m. — Police were approached by a landscaper/contractor hired to repaint lines in the parking area of Katonah Elementary School. The employee flagged down an officer on patrol and told them multiple neighbors had vociferously complained about the work starting too early. One person apparently removed landscaping equipment which the complainant thought would be returned, but was not. Police were unable to find the pilfered equipment. The landscaper/contractor and his boss told police they wanted a report to document the incident.  

4:40 p.m. — A resident of Mount Holly Road, Katonah, male, came to headquarters to report he was caught up in a scam where he exchanged revealing pictures and texts with someone he met on a dating site who was now threatening to expose him. The complainant was advised to block the number and delete the app. Police said the threatening party has so far not taken any action.  

6:37 p.m. — A Katonah family who accidentally locked themselves out on a second floor balcony deck were rescued by a police officer who entered the home through an unlocked front entry.  


Sunday, Aug. 24

8:42 a.m. — An officer on patrol was flagged down on Sarles Street by a woman who said she found a small white dog. The dog, uncollared, was taken to a South Salem animal hospital to check for a chip. Hours later, its owner called the police to report the lost dog. They were given directions on how to obtain a dog license and paperwork to collect their dog the next day at the animal hospital where it was temporarily being housed.  

5:54 p.m. — Two German shepherds described as aggressive were reported wandering on private property in Bedford. Police said the dogs were gone prior to their arrival.  


Monday, Aug. 25

1:35 p.m. — A concerned caller reported an elderly woman walking along the roadway in the vicinity of Mclain Street and Penwood; an officer located her. She said she lived in the neighborhood and didn’t need assistance. 

6:40 p.m.  — Police went to a massage establishment on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, for a report of a man who said he wanted a massage but didn’t want to pay. He was asked to leave and he did. No further action was taken. 

6:58 p.m — A resident of Bedford Village, female, 34, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters after she was thrown from a horse and sustained a hip injury while riding on Greenwich Road. 


Wednesday, Aug. 27 

1:28 p.m. — A person who parked their car for about 45 minutes in Bedford Village in the vicinity of Old Post Road and Court Road reported their car was badly scratched during a hit-and-run incident. A report was made for documentation. 

1:58 p.m. — Two youths, ages 14 and 16, dressed in black were reported running away from Four Winds Hospital in Cross River. Police assisted New York State Police and Lewisboro Police looking for them at the Katonah train station where it was reported they were dropped off by an unknown man driving a black Dodge Ram. Police couldn’t locate them. 

3:59 p.m. — A driver stopped for using their cellphone while operating a motor vehicle in the vicinity of the Village Green in Bedford Village was given a warning.  

6:44 p.m. — A Katonah woman came to headquarters to report a verbal-only incident she had with her soon-to-be ex-husband; she asked police to contact him and ask him to refrain from yelling at her; the man said he would try. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.  


Thursday, Aug. 28

11:46 a.m. — A female, 82, from Bedford Hills was taken by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital for a possible seizure. 

5:16 p.m. — Police went to an address on Dwight Lane, Bedford Hills, for a reported fraud incident. Two women who are responsible for their deceased uncle’s estate told police they were informed by the Department of Motor Vehicles that the title for their uncle’s car they were trying to transfer had already been transferred to another party. They suspect the other party is their uncle’s former lady friend who lives in the uncle’s home and has refused the two women entry. Police went to the home with the women and entry was gained. Police said it is an ongoing situation.

8:14 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to Fellowship Hall, Bedford Hills, after a woman called 911 to say she was being held against her will in a laundry room. She was out of the laundry room when police arrived; she explained a man who is also a resident with whom she’s had some previous unwanted contact was making her uncomfortable. Police spoke with the man who said he would leave her alone.  


Friday, Aug. 29

8:11 a.m. — Bedford firefighters and police responded to the Park & Ride on South Bedford Road, Bedford, for a report of a vehicle fire. On arrival they saw a pickup truck with a brake cylinder burning. The fire was extinguished. The operator said he would arrange for his own tow.  

11:08 a.m. — An ongoing issue between a landlord and a tenant on Sunset Drive, Bedford Hills, was temporarily resolved by police officers who told the tenant she needs to abide by her lease agreement and the landlord to stop contacting her while he proceeds with the eviction process.  

10:19 p.m. — A female, 49, from Poughkeepsie, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to be treated for burns to her back, arm and shoulder after she fell into a firepit while visiting a home in Bedford Hills. 


Saturday, Aug. 30

5:54 p.m. — An employee of the DeCicco & Sons in Bedford reported a woman known to have stolen items from other DeCicco’s stores. Police arrived and told her she was trespassed from all DeCicco stores. She said she understood and left without incident. 

8:33 p.m. — A male reported yelling on the train platform in Bedford Hills was gone prior to police arrival. 


Sunday, Aug. 31 

2:50 a.m. — Naked youths were reported running on the football field on the Fox Lane High School campus. Police say they had dispersed prior to their arrival.  

9:44 a.m. — A female, 90, from Katonah, was given a lift assist by police after she fell on the floor and couldn’t get up. The Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps was on scene. The woman declined further assistance.  

Lewisboro

Monday, Aug. 18

11:30 a.m. — Police went to the library in South Salem for a report of a male inside the building asking people to show their tongues. He was already walking down the street when the officer encountered him. He apologized right away and asked the officer not to call his parents. Police advised him not to bother library patrons again and he agreed and police sent him on his way. 

2:05 p.m. — A rollover incident in front of the Goldens Bridge firehouse resulted in the driver having to be extricated by firefighters from his van. He was reported injured but it is unknown if he went to the hospital for treatment. 


Tuesday, Aug. 19

8:40 p.m. — Police went to a residence in South Salem for a report of a resident who took a tow truck driver’s cellphone to deter him from removing an AudiQ5 being repossessed. Police spoke with the residents who said they had no idea why tow was there. A brief investigation on scene revealed the couple didn’t realize something was amiss on their auto-pay and they’d missed several payments. The phone was returned to the driver without incident. 


Thursday, Aug. 21

3:53 p.m. — A person came to headquarters to report their license plates were lost or missing. He said he’d been in a collision and his car was totalled and towed. Somewhere in the process, the plates fell off. He was issued paperwork to provide to the Department of Motor Vehicles. 

8:24 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a report of a mastiff found on Glen Drive. The finder of the dog believed its owner lives on Route 123. That individual was contacted and the dog returned. 


Friday, Aug. 22

10:15 a.m. — Police went to Smith Ridge Road and West Lane for a report of a dog struck by a vehicle; in the woods they found a dead bobcat. A shovel was borrowed from a construction crew working in the area and the carcass moved to the side of the road. The New York State Department of Transportation was notified about the deceased wildlife.

1:30 p.m. — A large roll of felt that fell off a construction vehicle working in the vicinity of Cross Pond Road into the roadway caused a driver on that street to collide with it, sustaining damage to their car’s undercarriage. The site manager was contacted and both parties shared information to assist with an insurance claim. No one was injured. 

6:50 p.m. — Golf balls being hit into a yard on West Road brought police to the residence. The caller said a ball had damaged her windshield. She did not want to make trouble for the youth who was hitting balls nearby in his own yard but hoped police would speak with the family. That happened and the boy said he would keep all the balls in his own yard. 


Saturday, Aug. 23

9:06 a.m. — A chef at a restaurant in Waccabuc came to headquarters to say he’d been slapped on the face by a coworker in the presence of three other coworkers. He went to the hospital for pain to his face but it was determined there was no physical injury. He requested an order of protection. A sous chef and two line cooks were interviewed by police. None of the three actually witnessed the slap but all said there’d been verbal arguing. There was some difference of opinion as to which party was the aggressor. The complainant was advised there was insufficient reason for an order of protection. 


Sunday, Aug. 24

9:46 a.m. — A female, 8, who hit her head on a refrigerator door and cut her head was attended to at her South Salem home by Lewisboro and Westchester County paramedics. 

10:00 p.m. — A South Salem woman called 911 to report an unknown party was inside her home. She said she heard a noise. Police arrived and saw a cabinet door fell off its hinge inside her kitchen. The house was checked and all appeared secure.  


Monday, Aug. 25 

9:55 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem where a woman reported someone had replaced the fuel in her boat’s tank with water, two gallons of it. She discovered this vandalism after a mechanic looked at her boat when it wouldn’t start. There were no potential witnesses, she said, as she is surrounded by Airbnbs. 

4:43 p.m. — A Cross River woman suffered a laceration to her wrist after tripping and falling in her driveway, which she said was cracked and damaged. She was aided by Lewisboro medics but refused transport. 


Tuesday, Aug. 26

9:30 a.m. — A woman who fell out of her wheelchair while at home in her bathroom was helped back into her chair by Lewisboro volunteer ambulance members. She said she wasn’t injured. 

7:17 p.m. — A tent was reported at the rear of the ACME Markets grocery store property in Goldens Bridge. The tent was unoccupied. A man soon appeared who said he was homeless and employed at the store. He said he goes to school in New York City and takes the train. He thought the discreet location of the tent shouldn’t cause any problem. The store manager said they would have to speak to someone else in the corporation to find out if the man could be allowed to have the tent. Police said there was no further action at this time. 

9:30 p.m. — Police assisted a woman who approached them in the Lewisboro Town Park requesting a hug. She said she felt blue about breaking up with her boyfriend. The boyfriend came to the park to check on her as he had a location tracker. The officer followed her home to make sure she got there safely. 


Wednesday, Aug. 27

1:13 p.m. — Lewisboro Police responding to the report of two teenage males who fled from Four Winds Hospital identified the driver of the car a witness reported as helping the boys. He drove them from the Shell service station to the train station in Katonah where it’s believed they hopped on a train. The driver, a Pound Ridge resident, told police the boys told him they’d been staying with a friend nearby and needed a ride. He was unaware they were hospital patients or that they’d run away. Police obtained video footage from the gas station of the boys getting into his car, a gray Dodge Ram. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority was provided with this information as well as the New York State Police. 

7:15 p.m. — The operator of a car traveling northbound on Route 121 speeding and crossing the double yellow line was stopped by a police officer who determined the driver was intoxicated. A man with a foreign identity card was arrested and brought to headquarters for processing. He was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to appear in court in late September.  


Thursday, Aug. 28

9:31 a.m. — Criminal mischief was reported on East Street, South Salem, where evidence of a burned temporary road sign from Wilton, Conn., was located in the roadway. A guardrail also appeared burned. The Wilton Police were contacted but said they had no reports of stolen signs. 

6:11 p.m. — Police went to a backyard on Apple Hill Court, South Salem, after a neighbor reported a fire. They found the resident burning brush, which is prohibited by town ordinance. That person was advised they were breaking the law and the fire was extinguished. 


Friday, Aug. 29

5:52 p.m. — A small dead dog was reported in a driveway on Route 123, South Salem. Police drove up and down the road looking for it but didn’t locate it. 


Saturday, Aug. 30

7:30 a.m. — A bear was reported on Ridgeland Road. Police looked for it but the bear was gone. 

9:50 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem to assist a woman who fell in her home and couldn’t get up. She said the dog caused her to fall and hit her head. Westchester EMS and the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps were on scene and the woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. 

4:28 p.m. — Police went to a home on Elmwood Road, South Salem, for a tenant dispute involving a foreclosure and the current resident being told to get out. The tenant  said she came home to find the lock to her apartment had been changed and some men she didn’t know told her they were the new homeowners. Police intervened and advised the homeowners of the woman’s rights and said she must be allowed to be safely inside the apartment until she can move her belongings, which was her plan. No further information was provided.

5:51 p.m. — A man who injured his back jumping off Castle Rock, Waccabuc, into the water was taken to Danbury Hospital by an unknown ambulance in severe pain. Police said he was helped by friends onto a paddle board to get back to dry land. 


Saturday, Aug. 30 

9:18 p.m. — Police went to a location on North Salem Road for a report of a man with a backpack caught on camera by the front gate. Police saw a silver Acura with Connecticut plates. Three people were inside; the one caught on camera said he was meeting friends to camp at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation but his Uber dropped him at the wrong address. He called his friends who were already in the reservation to pick him up. The trunk of the Acura contained firewood and camping gear. All three said they planned to camp through Monday. Police informed the homeowners what was going on and that there was no problem. 


Sunday, Aug. 31

7:15 p.m. — Fire was reported at a home on Ridgeland Road, South Salem; police saw Vista and South Salem firefighters extinguishing a fire on the second floor. On police arrival, the tenants were outside the home. The Lewisboro building inspector arrived and declared the home unsafe. The tenants agreed to leave. The owner of the building was unable to be contacted. The Bedford Police fire inspector was also on scene. 

Mount Kisco 

Wednesday, Aug. 20

11:08 a.m. — Security at Northern Westchester Hospital advised a Garrison woman that her car had been struck by another while it was parked in the valet area. A review of security video determined that the vehicle that caused the hit-and-run is registered to a village resident. A followup investigation was attempted at a village residence but no one was home. An investigation is continuing.

11:59 a.m. — A Kisco Avenue auto dealership reported that four tires had been removed from a vehicle parked in its lot. A report was taken. An investigation is continuing.

11:48 p.m. — A White Plains resident in the 100 block of Main Street reported that her vehicle was damaged by a private carting company truck that left the scene. An investigation is continuing.


Thursday, Aug. 21

8:08 a.m. — A welfare check was conducted at a Woodcrest Lane residence after an employer expressed concern for an employee who failed to show up for work and could not be reached by phone. The person was found to be in good health and reported that he was scheduled to have the day off. 

3:51 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to take a complaint about possible fraud. A caregiver reported that he suspects a relative of his client is misusing the man’s trust fund. He asked for a report to be prepared to document his concern while his home care agency investigates the matter further. 

4:43 p.m. — A doctor at a Main Street medical practice reported receiving a lewd phone call from a person claiming to be a physician in Florida.

8:44 p.m. — Officers responded to Northern Westchester Hospital on a report of a person in emotional crisis. The man’s family brought him to the hospital after he threatened to harm himself but he would not go inside the building. Officers spoke with the man, calmed the situation and convinced him to enter the hospital to receive care.


Friday, Aug. 22

9:57 a.m. — Officers responded to a report of downed wires on Elm Street. They closed the street to traffic between Lexington Avenue and West Street. Con Edison was notified.

12:20 p.m. — Report of a shoplifting suspect detained by store security at Target on North Bedford Road. A resident of Hawthorne, female, 57, was subsequently charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. She is accused of trying to leave the store without paying for $257 worth of merchandise found in her possession. She was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Sept. 4 appearance in village court.
