BEDFORD

Car hunt

On Friday, Jan. 23, at 5:24 p.m., police went to the parking lot on South Bedford Road after a woman was unable to find her car and thought it might have been stolen. Officers said she appeared intoxicated and admitted to having “a beverage.” Her car was found with the keys inside. Due to her possible impairment, she was told she would need to get a ride home. Her husband came and said he would get her car later.  

Theft by Zelle 

On Friday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m., a resident of Hopewell Junction, female, 44, turned herself into police to be charged with second-degree grand larceny, a felony. Police say she stole money through Zelle transactions from her Katonah employer for nearly two years. The business hired an accountant who discovered discrepancies and illegal money transfers. It wasn’t difficult to determine who was making the fraudulent transactions, police said. The alleged thief was contacted by police and came to headquarters to be processed and arraigned. She was released on her own recognizance and is to appear in court Jan. 28. 

Monday, Jan. 19

4:36 p.m. — Police met with a landlord in Katonah who said a tenant had a window open since Christmas. Police spoke with the tenant who agreed to close the window. The boiler was also checked as well as the home’s thermostat.

5:50 p.m. — Two men who stole six jackets and two pieces of luggage from Kohl’s in Bedford Hills got away with the items in a four-door sedan. Police were notified of the larceny by a loss prevention officer. Detectives are investigating.  

Tuesday, Jan. 20

11:17 a.m. — A man who fell through a skylight at a home under construction in Bedford was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Westchester EMS medics. Police said the man, 34 from New Brunswick, N.J., was on the roof moving materials when he fell 11 feet; the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified. 

3:26 p.m. — Two cars collided head-on at Old Post Road and Greenwich Road, Bedford. Police said that both operators were uninjured and out of their vehicles. One driver told police he couldn’t see due to sun glare. He was issued four summonses. Both cars were towed. 

Thursday, Jan. 22

7:16 p.m. — A woman reported concerning statements made by her ex-husband. She had an order of protection against him but police said it expired. She was advised to contact family court to get a new court order. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.  

Friday, Jan. 23  

6:26 p.m. — A female, 86, was assisted after she accidentally locked herself inside her car parked in her garage. Police found her shivering and with a dead battery. Entry was gained to the vehicle without damaging it and she was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford ambulance for evaluation.  

Saturday, Jan. 24

9:50 a.m. — Police responded to a squabble reported in a parking lot at the Hunting Ridge Mall in Bedford. A caller said a man in a Tesla used profane language and made untrue claims their car was damaged by the caller. The Tesla driver was gone on police arrival.  

2:19 p.m. — A man who fell at the Bedford Hills train station was found with blood streaming from his face due to a broken nose and a split lip. Police applied trauma dressing until medics arrived. They said the man was too intoxicated to provide much information besides his name and age, 56. He was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.  

Sunday, Jan. 25

6:49 a.m. — A Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps medic delivered a healthy baby for a woman in active labor at her Bedford Hills home. Mother and child were taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for aftercare.  

11:43 a.m. — Police went to a group home on North Street, Katonah, after two people argued over the thermostat and curtains. One person wanted the curtains closed. The other didn’t. Police advised as this is a group living situation no one had any right to tell another person how to manage the curtains. It was suggested they speak to the house manager regarding the thermostat. 


LEWISBORO

You keep him 

On Friday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m., the Malone, N.Y., Police Department, near the Canadian border, picked up a man  on a charge of disorderly conduct. A check of his paperwork revealed an outstanding warrant out of Lewisboro. The Malone Police wanted to know if Lewisboro Police wished to come and collect him. Lewisboro police declined. The charge/charges in the warrant were not disclosed.

Monday, Jan. 19

2:45 p.m. — A summons was brought to a South Salem home for unlicensed dogs. The owner wasn’t home but her adult son was and he accepted the ticket. He said one of the dogs was deceased. Police advised him to have the dogs’ owner contact the Town House to follow up on the summons. 

Tuesday, Jan. 20 

7:50 a.m. — Police responded to the Mobil gas station on Route 35, South Salem, on a report of a woman in a car in emotional distress. She told the officer she was distraught over her spouse’s infidelity. Police facilitated speaking with a professional counselor. The Orange County Crisis Call Center quickly talked with the woman, who was then calm and able to drive to work. 

6:45 p.m. — A miscommunication between a new homeowner and a floor repairman brought police to a residence on Fairview Court, Cross River, after the homeowner reported a suspicious vehicle in her driveway. Police spoke to the operator who was there to buff a floor damaged at the time of the move-in and the issue was resolved. 

Wednesday, Jan. 21

2:50 p.m. — A woman came to headquarters expressing concern for a situation regarding a relative who served prison time for road rage assault and had been staying at his mother’s South Salem home, unasked and unwanted, while she’s hospitalized. She said he became belligerent when he discovered the locks were changed. Due to his violent history police suggested she go to family court and seek an order of protection. 

Saturday, Jan. 24

5:50 p.m. — An elderly woman was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS after falling in her Goldens Bridge home and complaining of pain to her shoulder. 

9:50 p.m. — A girl, 4, who fell out of her high chair at her South Salem home was taken by her father to Northern Westchester Hospital by her father, who had first called 911. Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the address but the father had already canceled the call for assistance. No further information was provided.

Sunday, Jan. 25

10:30 a.m. — Police went to a home in Goldens Bridge for an argument between a couple. The women’s clothes were outside the home and blocking entry. The parties were interviewed separately. The man left the residence in his car. The mother declined to have her children write out depositions even though they were witnesses to what happened. She was left with paperwork in case she changed her mind and a New York state domestic incident report was completed. 


MOUNT KISCO

Monday, Jan. 19

2:02 a.m. — Officers responded to the 200 block of Main Street on a report of a man lying on the ground. The man was determined to be intoxicated. Westchester EMS responded and took him to a hospital for evaluation.

4:22 p.m. — An officer responded to Target on North Bedford Road after store personnel detained a suspected shoplifter. A 36-year-old Mahopac resident was accused of trying to leave the store without paying for $373 worth of merchandise he hid under a coat in a shopping cart. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, and released pending a Jan. 29 court appearance. At management’s request, he was also issued a written trespass warning barring him from the store for one year.

Tuesday, Jan. 20

2:27 a.m. — An intoxicated man was observed in the 200 block of Main Street. Due to the cold temperatures, he was driven to his Lexington Avenue residence to ensure his safety.

12:05 p.m. — Officers responded to the Mount Kisco Library on Main Street on a report of a disorderly patron. Officers escorted a man out of the building and advised him not to return. As a written trespass warning was being prepared, the man returned to the library and was placed under arrest for trespassing, a violation. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Jan. 29 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court. 

Wednesday, Jan. 21

9:15 a.m. — Report of a larceny suspect who fled from Target on North Bedford Road. Loss prevention personnel reported that a man had used a kitchen knife for sale at the store and to cut a security cable for a disposable mobile phone. The man then pocketed the mobile phone, valued at $108, and left. After officers reviewed security video and saw that the suspect had taken a taxi, the cab company was contacted and it provided the location where the man was dropped off. Officers canvassed that area and took a 34-year-old Moore Avenue man into custody. He was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released pending a Feb. 21 appearance in village court.

11:29 a.m. — Officers responded to Radio Circle on a report of a violation of an order of protection. A woman reported that a female who is barred from contacting her had come to her place of employment a short time before. The employee said she did not want to pursue a criminal charge at this time but requested a report be prepared to document the incident.

11:33 a.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to take a report regarding possible identity theft. A village resident reported that her husband’s social security statement had arrived in the mail the day before and it had been opened prior to delivery. The woman said she has found no indications of fraud at this point but requested a report be prepared to document her concern.

7:15 p.m. — A trespass complaint was lodged by Barnes & Noble on South Moger Avenue. A man was found on premises who was previously issued a trespass warning barring him from the store. He was taken into custody and booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of trespassing, a violation. He is due to answer the charge Feb. 5 in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

Thursday, Jan. 22

7:49 a.m. — The Real Time Crime Center broadcast an alert that a stolen truck was being driven in the vicinity of Preston Way and North Bedford Road. A patrol sergeant located the truck on Main Street near North Moger Avenue and followed it on to Maple Avenue. The truck turned into the Mount Kisco Community Center lot, and the sergeant and a patrol officer took the driver into custody. The 25-year-old Main Street man was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor. The truck, which was stolen at 5:30 a.m. in Stamford, Conn., contained 147 boxes of potato chips and two cases (48 containers) of salsa. The man was arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.

2:41 p.m. — An officer responded to ShopRite on North Bedford Road on a report of a man who passed out in the store. The man was conscious and sitting in a chair upon the officer’s arrival. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to a hospital.

10:29 p.m. — A Croton Avenue resident reported that a man in a hooded sweatshirt was banging on his front door. The officer located the man walking on Croton Avenue and determined that his car had broken down on the Saw Mill River Parkway and he was seeking help. An officer assigned to the parkway was dispatched, located the disabled vehicle and arranged for it to be towed.


POUND RIDGE

Friday, Jan. 23

7:30 a.m.— Police assisted a driver whose vehicle was inoperable by helping them push it off the road. The operator said they were waiting for AAA.  

2:40 p.m. — A wandering dog with tags brought to police headquarters was swiftly and happily reunited with its owner. 

4:50 p.m. — A woman, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

6:12 p.m. — Police responded to a 911 hangup coming from an address on Westchester Avenue. The caller said it was made in error.

6:30 p.m. — Two drivers were given speeding tickets on Westchester Avenue; they were both clocked at 52 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

Saturday, Jan. 24

9:00 a.m. — Police responded to a domestic incident. No information was provided regarding the nature of the incident or its resolution. 

10:30 a.m. — Three summonses were issued to drivers on Long Ridge Road. Two were for using a mobile phone while driving; the other was for a tinted windshield. 

4:35 p.m. — A black-and-white cat brought to headquarters, found on Salem Road, was scanned for a chip with negative results. Police posted its picture on the Pound Ridge Neighborhood site in hopes of locating its owner.

3:00 p.m. — A summons was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for failure to stop at the stop sign. 

Sunday, Jan. 25

3:15 p.m. — The owner of a parked car blocking a snowplow on Peters Lane was contacted and the car moved. 

Monday, Jan. 26

8:45 a.m. — The owner of a vehicle blocking the path of a snowplow on Old Pound Road was contacted and the vehicle was moved. 

8:40 a.m. — A man, age and condition unknown, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

1:00 p.m. — Low hanging wires reported on Upper Shad Road did not appear to be posing a problem.
