POUND RIDGE
Tuesday, Jan. 13
8:00 a.m. — No violations were observed during a traffic enforcement on Westchester Avenue.
11:27 a.m. — A traffic enforcement on Old Stone Hill Road yielded no violators.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
8:30 a.m. — No violations were observed during a traffic enforcement on Westchester Avenue.
Thursday, Jan. 15
11:30 a.m. — A man, age and condition not reported, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
2:00 p.m. — Two drivers were given summonses for speeding on Westchester Avenue. One was traveling 54 mph in a 30 mph zone; the other was traveling 52 mph in the same zone.
3:15 p.m. — Police gave a bicyclist a ride home after they said they flew over the handlebars after striking a dog that ran out in front of them on Hoyt Road. The cyclist said they attempted to slow down but couldn't in time. The dog was not hurt.
4:44 p.m. — A medical alert alarm was set off in error.
5:47 p.m. — A driver who failed to stop at a stop sign on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket.
5:99 p.m. — A speeder traveling 50 mph in a 30 mph zone was given a ticket on Westchester Avenue.
7:30 p.m. — Police stayed with a disabled black Ford Focus while the operator awaited AAA on High Ridge Road. The vehicle was in a compromising position and was a traffic hazard.
Friday, Jan. 16
11:32 a.m. — No violations were observed during a traffic enforcement on Westchester Avenue.
Saturday, Jan. 17
9:45 a.m. — The reverend was notified after police checked the interior of a church on Pound Ridge Road. While on patrol, an officer noticed an open door. As all appeared in order, the door was secured.
1:00 p.m. — No injuries were reported and no tow was required after a one-car crash on Long Ridge Road.
12:30 p.m. — The car was towed after a single-car crash on Salem Road. No one was injured.
1:17 p.m. — Police looked for a collision reported on Horseshoe Hill Road. They couldn’t find it and saw no one attempting to flag them down.
12:46 p.m. — A one-car crash on Pound Ridge Road resulted in no injury and no tow.
2:10 p.m. — Property damage was reported following a two-car collision on Highview Road. Neither car required a tow and no one was injured.
8:36 p.m. — A driver on Salem Road was given a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
Sunday, Jan. 18
9:06 a.m. — One car was towed after it crashed on Major Lockwood Road. No one was injured.
1:50 p.m. — A vehicle reported stuck in a driveway on Winterbottom Lane was removed, possibly prior to police arrival.
Monday, Jan. 19
9:55 a.m. — A speeding ticket was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for driving 51 mph in a 30 mph zone.
10:10 a.m. — A tow was requested for a disabled vehicle on Upper Shad Road.
4:36 p.m. — Police went to a residence on Horseshoe Hill Road for a 911 hangup. The resident said there was no emergency and the call was accidental.
5:45 p.m. — Three people were taken to Stamford Hospital by ambulances after a two-car crash on State Highway 137. No information was provided detailing the cause of the collision. Both cars were towed.
BEDFORD
Foot chase to catch a thief
A Bronx man, 25, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. Jan. 13 after, police said, he and another man stole items from Kohl's on Bedford Road in Bedford Hills. Police were alerted by store security of a larceny in progress. Store security provided information about the suspects’ vehicle but they fled on foot. Police gave chase and found one man near the Sunoco gas station. He was arrested and brought to headquarters for processing. The other was not caught. Police said the two are suspects in multiple Kohl’s thefts throughout the region; state police are involved. All items stolen from the store were recovered. A court date is scheduled Jan. 21. After his arrest and arraignment, the man was turned over to state police.
Monday, Jan. 12
5:51 p.m. — Police spoke with a landlord regarding a tenant in a one-bedroom apartment who invited his sisters to live with him. One of his siblings also has an infant. The landlord said he was not informed of this change in occupancy. Police spoke with the tenant who said the situation is temporary and that his sisters were living with him to escape a domestic situation. Child Protective Services was notified along with the mobile crisis team which responded immediately to remedy the situation.
7:51 p.m. — Police searched for a woman, 42, from Eastchester whose mother reported to Bedford police her daughter was upset and in need of assistance after an incident that took place in Mount Kisco where she exploded in rage and ran away from her boyfriend. Police said they are familiar with her from an incident in the past where her boyfriend changed the locks to prevent her from entering his Katonah address. The boyfriend met with police in Katonah at Lot 3 where he was in phone contact with the woman’s mother. Although she declined to respond to police calls, a location app found her in Eastchester. That department was contacted to conduct a welfare check; they said they’d already made contact.
Tuesday, Jan. 13
9:27 a.m. — A misunderstanding over an available parking space at Optum Health on Bedford Road in Katonah led to a man threatening to slash a woman’s tires because she pulled into it in front of him, police said. He also was said to have told staff at the medical center that she was stalking him. (She wasn’t.) The woman was the reporting party. The man left the scene. A report was made for documentation only.
10:21 a.m. — Police responded to a service organization in Katonah that reported a possible theft from a safe. The organization’s accountant arrived to do some work and opened it. They thought some cash was missing. An employee told police multiple people have access to the safe and it was unable to be determined at this time whether money was missing, stolen or otherwise accounted for. A report was made for documentation.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
9:31 a.m. — A bearded man was reported ringing doorbells by a caller in Bedford Village. Police spoke with him and he said he worked for a window company. He was unaware he needed a permit to solicit and left the area.
3:04 p.m. — A three-car collision at the intersection of Pound Ridge Road and Old Post Road required no tow and no hospital transport. One driver, 52 from Ridgefield, Conn., complained of neck and back pain but refused medical attention. Police said one car was approaching a red light but failed to stop and rear-ended the car in front of it, which in turn banged into the back of the car in front of it. The other drivers are from South Salem and White Plains. All drivers were able to drive away from the area. No tickets were written.
Thursday, Jan. 15
8:17 p.m. — Bedford Village firefighters and police went to a residence in Bedford Village after the homeowner said they were doing laundry when smoke began coming from behind the dryer. Firefighters said there was no active fire and the homeowner was advised to contact an electrician. .
Friday, Jan. 16
1:31 p.m. — A loose Husky mix dog was reported in the roadway in the vicinity of Robinson Avenue and School Street in Bedford Hills. The dog control officer had a pretty good idea of where the dog lives. He spoke with the owner who said the dog slipped out but had returned.
2:45 p.m. — A Katonah man came to police headquarters reporting that an unknown party had gained access to his account to purchase gold. His daughter was able to provide to police documentation that her father’s finances were fine and in good order and his money was safe. She said she has power of attorney over his affairs as his cognitive skills are slipping.
Saturday, Jan. 17
1:57 p.m — A Bedford woman came to headquarters with her husband to report lost jewelry. The wife said she took off her rings before bed and put them on the nightstand or a pocket. She couldn’t find them later. One ring is insured; five others aren’t. A report was made for their insurance.
6:24 p.m. — Two officers searched the exterior and interior of a home in Katonah after a burglar alarm was activated and a preliminary check showed an open side door. Inside all seemed clear. The open door was unable to be secured.
Sunday, Jan. 18
1:00 p.m. — Police responded to a report of traffic lights not working in Katonah on Route 22, Route 35 and the southbound ramp area of Interstate 684. It was observed that all those lights were inoperable. The Department of Public Works was contacted.
4:35 p.m. — Police searched for a man reported in a collision in Bedford wanted by Port Chester police. He was said to be driving a black Ford Explorer. Police couldn’t find him.
6:46 p.m. — A Yonkers man called the police to go to the Katonah home of his child’s mother after she failed to show up for a drop off as per their custody agreement. Police went to that address where they were told she no longer resides. They were updated with another address in Katonah, but that home was dark and no one was there. Yonkers police were notified of the situation.
LEWISBORO
Monday, Jan. 12
8:00 a.m. — Police impounded a white Mercedes E300 on Route 35 in the vicinity of Mead Street after the operator provided her license and registration and police saw her license is twice suspended. She was also given a citation for her tinted windshield.
9:05 a.m. — Wires were reported down on Green Hill Road in Goldens Bridge. There was also a small fire in the roadway. The operator of a garbage truck said his vehicle struck low-hanging wires in the driveway of a residence that caused them to come down. The highway department and the utility were notified. Also reported by police to the highway department was a crevice in the roadway likely caused by the fire.
Tuesday, Jan. 13
2:49 p.m. — Police went to Four Winds Hospital in Cross River after staff reported a recently terminated employee in the parking lot was upset. Police found her; she was distraught and unable to process why she’d been terminated. The hospital said she’d committed no crime, and the woman calmed down and drove off.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
4:23 p.m. — A South Salem man, 70, was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Vista EMS after falling at his residence.
Thursday, Jan. 15
7:45 a.m. — A burglary alarm was activated at a home on Fairmount Road in South Salem. There were no signs of a break-in or burglary and all appeared in order.
8:30 a.m. — Police impounded a car on an unnamed street in South Salem during a traffic stop. The vehicle was unregistered and the operator’s driver’s license expired. The driver was stopped for speeding. Multiple tickets were issued.
Friday, Jan. 16
7:00 a.m. — A tree was reported down and blocking Cove Road in South Salem. The highway department was summoned to clear the road.
2:05 p.m. — The Middlebury, Conn., Police Department contacted Lewisboro police regarding a South Salem resident who informed a Connecticut dermatology office she would be bringing a gun to their office. Police went to her address but she wasn’t there. A Middlebury officer soon after reported they’d spoken with the woman who said she does not own a gun but felt frustrated attempting to make a telehealth appointment and had no desire to harm anyone.
4:02 p.m. — Police during a traffic enforcement on Todd Road near Mount Holly Road clocked drivers going at many speeds in a marked zone. The majority of the drivers were driving well under the speed limit. Four speeders were given warnings.
Saturday, Jan. 17
10:58 a.m. — An elderly South Salem resident was taken by Lewisboro ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for a medical equipment problem.
Sunday, Jan. 18
1:08 p.m. — Lewisboro ambulance and Westchester EMS took a person, age and gender unknown, to Northern Westchester Hospital for a bleeding problem.
4:30 p.m. — Police went to a liquor store in South Salem for a report of four males whom the cashier felt were suspicious. They left without incident and no further action was taken.
5:45 p.m. — A person who possibly had a stroke was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS from their South Salem home. As they appeared to be having an altered mental status and were somewhat uncooperative, an officer rode along in the ambulance.
9:20 p.m. — Police went to a home on Conant Valley Road for an activated burglar alarm. It appeared the home was secure.
MOUNT KISCO
Tuesday, Jan. 13
9:05 a.m. — Officers responded to a facility on Radio Circle on a report of a disturbance. A staff member said she was punched in the face by a client who had become upset over a change in schedule. She declined medical attention and said she might pursue charges and an order of protection in the future. The client was in a highly emotional state and EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Northern Westchester Hospital, and an officer followed the ambulance to the hospital as a safety precaution for the EMS personnel on board.
12:20 p.m. — Police and Mount Kisco Fire Department personnel responded to Leonard Park to establish a landing zone for a medical helicopter coming for a patient at Northern Westchester Hospital.
4:39 p.m. — A complaint was received regarding a car that was keyed in a medical office building’s parking lot on South Bedford Road. A woman reported that she had gotten into an argument with another woman over a parking space and then found damage to her car when she returned from her appointment. Building management was requested to obtain any relevant security video for review by a detective. An investigation is continuing.
6:26 p.m. — An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue observed two men who appeared to be drinking alcoholic beverages in front of a laundromat. After an investigation, one man was found with an open can of beer and was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. The summons is returnable to village court on Feb. 12.
6:39 p.m. — Officers responded to West Street on a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. The pedestrian said he was uninjured and declined medical attention and a police report.
9:47 p.m. — Officers responded to Barker Street on a report of an unwanted person in a basement laundry room. Police said the condition was corrected.
Wednesday, Jan. 14
2:24 p.m. — An officer responded to Target on North Bedford Road on a report of a shoplifter detained by store security. A 23-year-old Waccabuc man was taken into custody and booked at the Green Street precinct and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He is accused of trying to leave with $200 worth of merchandise he did not pay for. Management said the man has been involved in previous incidents and requested he be issued a trespass warning barring him from returning to the store. He was due to answer the criminal charge in Mount Kisco Justice Court on Jan. 22.
4:02 p.m. — Officers responded to Carpenter Avenue for a possible domestic disturbance. Officers located a man who said his wife was in emotional crisis and needed help. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps was requested to take the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital for a mental health evaluation. A domestic incident report was prepared.
6:32 p.m. — Police investigated a report of an attempted larceny of a vehicle at a Kisco Avenue dealership. Employees reported that a man tried to take a car valued at more than $50,000 from the service area of the dealership but was prevented from doing so by staff. The man fled onto Kisco Avenue and was followed by employees. He was taken into custody near the dealership by responding officers. The suspect was charged with fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, a felony, and held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
8:39 p.m. — A Kisco Avenue car dealership contacted county police to report a malfunction of security cameras and to request additional patrols until the problem was resolved. Multiple inspections of the property were conducted until the issue was resolved at 1:07 a.m.
8:54 p.m. — Officers and the Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to a restaurant on Main Street because of an activated fire alarm. Firefighters determined that a patron had been smoking in a bathroom.
Thursday, Jan. 15
12:50 p.m. — An officer transported a grand larceny suspect held overnight for arraignment from county police headquarters to Mount Kisco Justice Court. The man was arraigned and released on his own recognizance pending a Jan. 22 appearance in court.
4:40 p.m. — Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road after a larceny suspect fled from security personnel and drove off in a white SUV. Officers canvassed the area but could not locate the vehicle. The Real Time Crime Center was notified and obtained images of the suspect vehicle, which had a fraudulent license plate. At 6 p.m., RTC detectives determined the suspect vehicle was traveling on Route 6 in Mahopac. Carmel police located it on Route 118 in Baldwin Place, made a traffic stop and detained the driver for investigation. A county police officer responded, identified the man as the same one observed on target security video and placed him under arrest for petty larceny, a misdemeanor. During booking at the Green Street precinct, it was determined that the 44-year-old Yorktown man also had an active state police warrant charging him with false personation, a misdemeanor. The man was given an appearance date of Jan. 22 in Mount Kisco Justice Court and turned over to state police.
