BEDFORD

Juvenile charged with assault 

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, a male, 17, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, after an incident with a staff member at a residential care home on Old Post Road, Bedford, said police. Police said the incident was reported at 11:27 p.m. The youth was brought to headquarters where he was charged and arraigned and released to the care of a different staff member at the care home. He was scheduled to appear in a White Plains family court the next day. The staff member declined medical care. 

Accused of stealing from family member 

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 6:24 p.m., a Bedford man, 28, was arrested at a residence in Bedford, charged with two counts of grand larceny. Police said they arrived at the home in response to a verbal domestic incident; the man and a family member argued over stolen money. He was taken to police headquarters where he was processed and arraigned. An order of protection was issued to his family member. The man was released on his own recognizance and was to appear in court Sept. 2.  

Monday, Aug. 17

9:41 a.m. — Police checked on the welfare of a Rome Avenue man who called the police to say he was hungry and had nothing to eat. It was suggested he go to the hospital; he said he would wait for his home health care aide. Additional senior care services were offered, which he declined. 

5:13 p.m. — A man came to headquarters to say he’d been contacted by a collection agency regarding an unpaid utility bill in South Carolina. He denied having ever lived in that state and asked police to provide documentation that fraud had taken place.  

6:46 p.m. — A driver dropping off political fliers to residents who had previously signed up to receive them was reported as suspicious by a caller on Lawrence Avenue, Bedford Hills. Police said there was no problem.  

8:33 p.m. — A report of a car driving on a field at the Bedford Hills Memorial Park was unfounded. No suspicious vehicles were observed and the field was not damaged. 

Tuesday, Aug 18

2:37 p.m. — Police went to a Katonah home after a 911 hang-up call; they were met at the door by a woman who said there was no problem. 

4:46 p.m. — A Bedford man told police his children were playing with the phone after multiple 911 calls were received from his location. Police spoke with the kids and advised them the emergency number was not a plaything. 

Wednesday, Aug. 19

2:32 p.m. — A traffic summons was given to a driver traveling on Bedford Road and Woodland Road, Bedford Hills, for failure to obey a traffic control device.  

8:13 p.m. — A woman, 21, experiencing a seizure at her Bedford home was taken by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital. Medics were on scene prior to police arrival. 

Thursday, Aug. 20

10:54 a.m. — A Bedford Hills man came to headquarters to report fraudulent charges on his debit card. His bank notified him. The fraudulent charges were made to a business in Brooklyn. His bank asked him to provide a police report.  

Friday, Aug. 21

8:47 a.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford for a repeated disturbance between two neighbors. This time it involved dogs. A report was made for documentation and police did not at this time speak with the other party. 

1:38 p.m. — A Bedford Hills man came to headquarters to report a fraud committed against a business corporation he manages in Yonkers. He was advised because the incident occurred in Yonkers, he would have to report it to their police department.   

Saturday, Aug. 22

8:11 p.m. — Police spoke to a woman in a white SUV with Missouri plates after she was reported as suspicious in the DeCicco & Sons parking lot in Bedford. She said she’d stopped for food while figuring out where she was going next. She was told to move her car out of the drop-off lane and into a legal parking space.  

9:08 p.m. — Police looked for a person reported as suspicious in Bedford after a caller said they’d rung their doorbell. No suspicious person was found.  

Sunday, Aug. 23

1:05 p.m. — A woman, 70, was taken from her home in Bedford Hills after she fell and hit her head. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital complaining of a headache.  

7:02 p.m. — A loose black poodle reported in Bedford Hills was gone on police arrival.  

Monday, Aug. 24

2:16 p.m. — A caller in Bedford reported a person soliciting; police said the individual was permitted and no further action was taken.  

7:26 p.m. — A dog reported found in Bedford matched with a recent report of a  lost dog; the dog was reunited with its owner. 

Tuesday, Aug. 25

7:27 p.m. — A male reported as suspicious sitting on the side of Rome Avenue, Bedford Hills, turned out to be an adolescent who lived on the street waiting for his dad to come home. Police said there was no problem. 

7:17 p.m. — A wallet found by a person on Maple Avenue was turned in to police who contacted its owner, a Stamford, Conn., resident. They came to the station to retrieve their wallet. 

Wednesday, Aug. 26

1:17 p.m. — A Bedford resident reported fraud on their business credit card. They told police fraudulent charges were made in various locations over a period of two days in the Bronx, Queens and elsewhere in New York City. They are working with their bank and requested a police report for documentation. 

Thursday, Aug. 27 

7:55 p.m. — A dog reported drowning in the Cross River Reservoir was rescued by firefighters prior to police arrival. 

1:47 p.m. — Police assisted a woman in Katonah who needed help getting back into bed.  

Friday. Aug. 28

6:48 p.m. — A man, 60, was taken by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining of a rapid heart rate.  

6:48 p.m. — A woman, 59, experiencing an allergic reaction while at the Katonah Village Library was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

Saturday, Aug. 29

4:50 p.m. — A man, 70, from Bedford Hills, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital after complaining of nausea and dizziness.  

11:59 p.m. — A report of loud music on Old Post Road, Bedford, was unfounded.  

Sunday, Aug. 30

12:01 a.m. — Loud music reported at an address in Bedford Hills was unfounded.  

2:46 a.m. — A caller on Adams Street, Bedford Hills, reported individuals making noise. Police saw some people waiting for an Uber. One was playing music on his phone. The Uber arrived and the people left the area.  

1:13 p.m. — Black smoke was reported coming from a basement at a residence in Bedford Hills. Firefighters on scene turned off the boiler which ended the smoke. The house was ventilated. A male resident was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. A woman on scene declined medical attention.

MOUNT KISCO

Sunday, Aug. 23

4:55 a.m. — A welfare check was requested for a man observed sleeping on the sidewalk on Main Street near North Moger Avenue. The man was determined to be intoxicated and EMS responded to assess him. 

10:55 a.m. — Officers responded to Parkview Place on a report of a domestic dispute. The dispute was verbal in nature. A report was prepared.

1:45 p.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man drinking an alcoholic beverage at Byram Lake Road and Main Street. The man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. He is due in village court Sept. 24.

6:02 p.m. — A woman called the police to report that her ex-boyfriend was following her on South Moger Avenue. The man was not present upon an officer’s arrival. The woman requested a report be prepared because she is pursuing an order of protection in Family Court.

8:50 p.m. — Officers responded to Carpenter Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared and lethality screening conducted. The New York City Police Department was notified and a supervisor responded because one of the parties involved is an NYPD police officer. 

Monday, Aug. 24

1:03 a.m. — Officers responded to Meadowbrook Lane after a resident reported there was a suspicious vehicle with its headlights on in the driveway of her home. When officers arrived, they were advised by the resident that the vehicle was hers and that she had apparently left the headlights on by mistake.  

9:35 a.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a man at the callbox. The man reported that he had left an Apple watch on a Metro-North train in White Plains and subsequently tracked the device to a location on Stewart Place. An officer spoke with a man in an apartment on Stewart Place who admitted finding the watch. The officer took possession of the watch and turned it over to its owner.

10:54 a.m. — Officers responded to Parkview Place after a woman called to say that a male relative was refusing to return her car keys. The man told officers that he had advised the woman the day before that he had placed her keys in a bowl on the kitchen counter. He showed the officers that the keys were in the bowl. 

12:54 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a woman at the callbox. She turned over paperwork for a court-issued temporary order of protection to be served to a man who was a patient at Northern Westchester Hospital. Service was completed later in the day.

1:38 p.m. — A New Castle resident who works in New York City called police to report that his teen-aged daughter was in crisis and had gone to the Mount Kisco train station with the family dog intending to run away from home. Officers located the teen on the platform as her mother arrived and remained with them until the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police responded to handle the matter.

Tuesday, Aug. 25

11:26 a.m. — A business at North Moger Avenue and Main Street reported its front window was broken. 

3:03 p.m. — Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Main Street regarding a disorderly customer. The condition was corrected.

4:15 p.m. — Police responded to a report that a motorist was refusing to move from a no parking zone and yelling at a parking authority employee on Main Street. The condition was corrected.

8:04 p.m. — Multiple officers responded to Main Street and Lenox Place after a man who was possibly intoxicated was involved in a property damage motor vehicle accident and ran off into a wooded area. Officers conducted a search, including using a tracking canine, but were unable to locate him. The man’s vehicle, which has Connecticut plates, was impounded. An investigation is continuing.

Wednesday, Aug. 26

2:15 p.m. — A welfare check was requested for a man sitting behind St. Francis of Assisi Church on Green Street. The man told an officer he was fine and did not require medical attention. He was directed to leave the property and complied.

4:34 p.m. — Officers responded to the Metro-North station on a report that a man on the platform was preparing to jump onto the tracks. The caller stated that bystanders intervened and prevented the man from doing so. The man was gone upon officers’ arrival. MTA police also responded and the matter was turned over to that agency for continued investigation.

9:49 p.m. — Complaint received of youths driving erratically in a parking lot in the 300 block of North Bedford Road. A responding officer observed eight to 10 occupied cars in the lot with a group of people gathered and talking. The parties were directed to leave the property and dispersed as directed.

Thursday, Aug. 27

7:57 a.m. — Officers responded to ShopRite on North Bedford Road on a report of a larceny. Employees said a man left the store after filling several bags with merchandise. Officers canvassed the area, located the suspect and took him into custody. He was found in possession of $234 worth of merchandise that he had not paid for, including beer, meat, chips and frozen pizza. The 43-year-old Los Angeles, Calif., man was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He is due in village court Sept. 10.

11:12 a.m. — A welfare check was requested by a relative of a Foxwood Circle resident who could not be reached by phone. Officers determined that the resident was in a nursing facility in Somers. The relative was advised.

7:23 p.m. — Officers responded to the Green Street precinct on a report of a man in crisis. The man, who is known to officers due to prior interactions, was observed on camera talking to himself and brandishing a small knife. Officers de-escalated the situation, took possession of the knife and requested EMS respond. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the man to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. An officer rode aboard the ambulance to ensure the crew’s safety.

9:12 p.m. — An officer was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to meet a woman at the callbox who wanted to file a criminal complaint. Due to a language barrier, a Spanish-speaking sergeant was requested to assist with translation. The woman told the officers that a man she had met recently sent her text messages that included video of him fondling her while she was intoxicated and passed out. The woman said she did not consent to the sexual contact and wanted to press charges. A report was prepared and the matter was turned over to detectives for continued investigation.

POUND RIDGE

Wednesday, Aug. 19

4 a.m. — An Indian Hill Road man declined medical assistance from Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps members after someone called the police asking for help. 

12:32 p.m. — A traffic summons was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for failure to stop at a stop sign. 

7:39 p.m. — A Stamford, Conn., man was pulled over on Westchester Avenue for speeding, doing 57 mph in a 30-mph zone. He was placed under arrest and brought to headquarters for processing. He is due to appear in court Sept. 14. 

9:19 p.m. — A two-car collision on Long Ridge Road resulted in no injury and no tow. A summons was given to one driver for operating without a license. 

Thursday, Aug. 20

11:33 a.m. — A landscaper on Trinity Pass Road was reported using a gas leaf blower and therefore in violation of local ordinance. Police observed him using a stump grinder. He was advised of the ordinance, as was the homeowner. 

4:30 p.m. — A caller on Barnegat Road reported a suspicious person who police met with and identified as a sales rep for Anderson Windows. He had a permit to solicit. 

8:22 p.m. — Route 137 was reportedly blocked due to a downed tree. The highway department was notified. 

9:30 p.m. — The utility and police were on scene with a downed tree and downed wires on Robin Hood Road; the issue was corrected. 

Friday, Aug. 21

1:30 p.m. — A radar patrol on Westchester Avenue resulted in no violations observed. 

1:58 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 54 mph in a 30-mph zone. They were also ticketed for driving an unregistered vehicle on the highway. 

10:09 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle reported by a caller on Stone Hill Road turned out to be a DoorDash driver making a delivery. 

Saturday, Aug. 22

7:36 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign. 

10 a.m. — A speeder on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 55 mph in a 30 mph zone. 

1:28 p.m. — A speeder doing 58 mph in a 30 mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue. 

3:30 p.m. — A caller on Eastwoods Road reported a baby bobcat in their yard. It fled into the woods on police arrival. 

 10:08 p.m. — A driver was given a summons for being unlicensed on Westchester Avenue. 

Sunday, Aug. 23

8:50 a.m. — A caller on Hack Green Road complained about someone using a drone; police say it was deployed to help locate a lost dog. 

3:10 p.m. — A Stone Hill Road man was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.  

4:30 p.m. — A two-car crash on State Highway 137 resulted in no injuries and no tow.  

5:16 p.m. — An Eastwoods Road man was advised by police no Sunday power washing of his home was allowed. 

Tuesday, Aug. 25

8:55 a.m. — A disabled vehicle reported on Upper Shad Road; police spoke with the operator who said they were waiting for AAA. 

9:25 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for speeding, doing 54 mph in a 30 mph zone. 

4:16 p.m. — A caller on Miller Road said there were two bears in their yard; the homeowner told police they’d observed them on the trampoline and also in the garden. Police saw the pair as they were heading into the woods. They appeared healthy and looking for food. The homeowner was advised to keep their pets away and not make it easy for them to find something to eat. 

5:05 p.m. — A homeowner on Upper Shad Road reported seeing two bears walking towards the woods. 

Wednesday, Aug. 26

7:37 a.m. — A speeder clocked doing 54 mph in a 30 mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue. 

8:44 a.m. — Three summonses were issued to a commercial driver on Westchester Avenue for improper towing and loose cargo. 

8:48 a.m. — A speeder on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 55 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

9:43 a.m. — A person driving on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 53 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

10:38 a.m. — A driver was ticketed on Westchester Avenue for using their cellphone. 

10:55 a.m. — Another driver was ticketed on Westchester Avenue for using their cellphone. 

12:07 p.m. — A speeder going 63 mph in a 30-mph zone was ticketed on Westchester Avenue. 

3:50 p.m. — A caller on Pinebrook Road reported seeing two bears. Police couldn’t locate the animals.  

5:23 p.m. — Another caller on Pinebrook Road reported two bears had been swimming in their pool. By the time police arrived, the pair had returned to the woods. 

Thursday, Aug. 27

8:51 a.m. - 9:19 a.m. — The police department issued 21 permits for  bowhunting.

8:50 a.m. — A commercial driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued five tickets for various safety violations.  

11:45 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

12 p.m. — A Gorge Lane resident was given a citation for using a gas leaf blower at their home in violation of local ordinance. 

4:45 p.m. — A suspicious person was reported soliciting on Eastwoods Road; police say he was gone on their arrival. 

9:17 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported an injured raccoon. Police didn’t see it as it had entered the woods. 

Friday, Aug. 28

8:15 a.m. — A rabid raccoon was humanely dispatched on Westchester Avenue.  

Saturday, Aug. 29 

9:33 a.m. to 10:25 p.m. — More than a dozen drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue were issued tickets for driving over the speed limit. All the drivers were observed going 50 mph or over in a 30-mph zone. One driver was tracked going 60 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

Sunday, Aug. 30

1:30 p.m. — A caller on Cedar Hill Lane reported a suspicious person. Police couldn’t locate.  

2:30 p.m. - 5:48 p.m. — Police issued multiple tickets to drivers using their phones while driving on Westchester Avenue. 

8:40 p.m. — Police spoke with a man who showed them their permit to solicit on Indian Hill Road. The person was reported by a resident as suspicious. They told police they were done working for the evening and were waiting for their ride. 

7:10 p.m. — Loud music was reported on Midway Lane. The person in charge of the party said they’d turn the volume down. 

Monday, Aug. 31

7:42 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for speeding, doing 56 mph in a 30-mph zone. Police said the driver was also unlicensed.

LEWISBORO

Monday, Aug. 17

11:20 a.m. — Police went to an address in Katonah for a report of a woman who threw a smoke detector against a wall in a rage. Police said it bounced back and hit her in the face, breaking her nose. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

3:26 p.m. — Police spoke with a mom on Old Church Lane who said her son, 11, got his first phone. She loaded the usual child-precautionary settings but he soon began receiving inappropriate texts requesting naked pictures. The number was blocked and a report of the incident was made for documentation. 

Tuesday, Aug. 18

9:30 a.m. — Police went to the Acme Market on Route 22 after a vehicle drove through the facade of the building; the driver said she was unaware of how this happened. Police saw the car stopped on the curb and sidewalk. Multiple flower pots and a glass window were destroyed. The operator said the car lurched forward. Police saw it had also struck another car. No injuries were reported. 

11:45 a.m. — Two bears were reported on Sabbathday Hill Road. Police found them on a deck on Harbor Place trying to get into a garbage can. A siren was activated causing both bears to run for the woods. 

2:40 p.m. — A teenager who was shaking and feeling dizzy after taking medication on Main Street was taken to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation. 

6:15 p.m. — A Katonah resident reported two women who came to her door soliciting or asking for help or directions or all of the above. They identified themselves as missionaries; the reporting party requested they leave. Vehicle information was provided to police who said the car is registered to the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS of New York. 

8:05 p.m. — A kayaker on Lake Truesdale reported seeing a door open at a vacant home. Police went to the location and saw two deck doors wide open. An interior check was made of the premises and nothing seemed amiss. 

Wednesday, Aug. 19

12:00 p.m. — Police went to the Subway sandwich shop in Goldens Bridge for an activated panic alarm. An employee denied it was activated. 

Thursday, Aug. 20

11 a.m. — An employee at a gas station on Route 35 in South Salem was arrested on a bench warrant out of the Lewisboro Town Court; he was detained and brought to headquarters and seen by a judge. No further information was provided.

Friday, Aug. 21 

5:30 p.m. — A South Salem man called the police to say his daughter might be in trouble. He indicated a problem she is having with a man who is the father of her child. Police are investigating. 

6:05 p.m. — A newly hired nurse at Four Winds Hospital reported receiving multiple bullying and possible sexual harassment texts from another hospital employee. Staff told police that the individual has since been placed on administrative leave due to their texts and is no longer on the property. 

Saturday, Aug. 22

4:18 p.m. — A suspicious person riding a scooter was reported in South Salem. Police looked unsuccessfully for the operator. 

Sunday, Aug. 23

3:32 p.m. — A wallet containing credit cards, a driver’s license, approximately $27 in cash and several gift cards left behind at Cameron’s Deli was returned to its owner by police. She said nothing was disturbed. 

4 p.m. — Police went to a home in Cross River after the resident needed assistance getting up from a seated position. He told police the couch was too low. 

Monday, Aug. 24 

10:45 a.m. — A solicitor reported on an unnamed street in Katonah was unable to be located. 

12:30 p.m. — Police went to the Kitchawan Beach parking area to meet with a landscaper who said he was working at a residence in the area when a tenant at that address became upset and began taking his picture. She also sent him a text message claiming she could go to the police and claim he sexually assaulted her. He was aware from his boss, who owned the property, that there are issues with this tenant who stopped paying rent. He said he only wanted to report the incident and would not be returning to the property. 

Tuesday, Aug. 25

8 a.m. — Police assisted a Waccabuc woman who accidentally locked herself into a gated area behind her pool house. 

2:10 p.m. — A resident came to headquarters with a Winchester air rifle he’d purchased years before. He said he no longer wanted it in the house with his children. The rifle was turned over to a police sergeant. 

Wednesday, Aug. 26

9:20 p.m. — Police went to a home in Waccabuc to assist a woman having an allergic reaction to medication. She was taken back to the hospital for evaluation. 

9:40 p.m. — A patient at Four Winds Hospital in Cross River called the police to say a male patient was flirting with her which made her uncomfortable. She said he was also harassing other female patients. Staff told police they would keep the man separate from women for the night. 

Thursday, Aug. 27

5:30 p.m. — Fraud was reported at a home in Cross River; police spoke with the  resident who has an interior design business; she said 10 fraudulent checks were written on her business account. Police are investigating. 

Friday, Aug. 28

5 p.m. — A wallet found at a restaurant in South Salem was turned in to the police, who returned it to its owner. 

9:30 p.m. — A dark sedan with two men inside was reported suspicious in the vicinity of Robbins Wood Road by a South Salem resident. The reporting party said the car was stopping in front of houses for about 15 minutes before leaving the area. Police looked for the described vehicle without result. The caller was advised to call back should the car return. 

Saturday, Aug. 29

7:30 a.m. — A child reported having seizures at their South Salem home was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. Police said that on their arrival the child was conscious and alert. 

9:35 a.m. — Police were dispatched for a welfare check at a residence on Briar Court, Cross River. There was no response at the door. The resident was contacted by phone and said her phone wasn’t working and she was at the phone store fixing it. She was advised her daughter was worried about her and had called 911. 

11:30 p.m. — Police went to a block party on Merritt Court, Katonah, for a noise complaint. They spoke with an off-duty NYPD detective working security. He was informed of the local noise ordinance and the complaint; he said he would have the DJ lower the music. 

Sunday, Aug. 30

11:30 a.m. — A woman yelled and cursed at the police when they came to her Goldens Bridge home for a welfare check. Police said she had repeatedly called the Goshen state police barracks and at first refused to open the door, but then opened it to yell and curse some more. Police determined she was fine. 

2:20 p.m. — Police went to a home in Cross River for an incident regarding a man and his 10-month-old son. A New York state domestic incident report was completed and other paperwork which was given to the child’s mother, who does not live there.

7 p.m. — A South Salem resident experiencing postpartum depression requested to go to a hospital; her brother said her child had been placed in foster care. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital.
