POUND RIDGE

Tuesday, April 7

12:26 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for going 53 mph in a 30-mph zone.  

12:28 p.m. — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire on Stone Hill Road after a homeowner released still-burning embers from their fireplace near the woods. 

5:30 p.m. — A Mount Kisco woman was arrested on Westchester Avenue after police stopped her after noticing her invalid inspection sticker; it was also soon determined her license was suspended. She is to appear in court May 18. 

Wednesday, April 8

6:45 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue doing 50 mph in a 30-mph zone was also ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign.  

10:38 a.m. — A commercial vehicle traveling on Pound Ridge Road was given four summonses for loose cargo, unlicensed driver and two violations of transportation laws.  

2:39 p.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance to Stamford Hospital. No further information was provided. 

5:45 p.m. — A driver on Highview Road was ticketed for no insurance and failure to obey a traffic device.  

6:50 p.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided. 

Thursday, April 9

6:16 p.m. — A caller on Tatomuck Road East said they saw a person in their yard who shouldn’t be there. Police went to the home and saw no signs of forced entry.  

7:13 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a summons regarding inspection stickers.  

8:15 p.m. — A man reported soliciting on Colonel Sheldon Lane was not located by police.  

Friday, April 10

5:23 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a speeding ticket for going 50 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

8:14 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for their opaque windshield.  

12:12 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for their opaque windshield.  

Saturday, April 11

10:40 a.m. —  During a radar surveillance on Patterson Road, no violations were observed.  

10:50 a.m. — A man was taken by Westchester EMS to Stamford Hospital. No further information was provided. 

2:30 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue complained about a small dog locked inside a car barking; police spoke with the owner. The dog was fine. 

3:33 p.m. — A caller reported a disabled vehicle on Scofield Road. Police spoke to the operator who had set out flares and said he was changing a tire. 

6:08 p.m. — A caller on Salem Road reported hanging wires. Police arrived and saw no wires down and nothing sparking.  

7:31 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a speeding ticket for going 51 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

8:40 p.m. —A caller on Salem Road reported suspicious behavior in the woods; police saw some young teens playing with flashlights. They spoke with a dad who said he also had entertained them with a fire in the fire pit. Police said there was no problem.

9:00 a.m. — A man was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

BEDFORD

Odd incident at business 

On Wednesday, April 8, at 3:06 p.m., a business owner in Katonah reported a man in his 30s entered the business, called themselves “a comedian” and then proceeded to take a piece of tape and use it to cover their mouth before ripping it off and swiftly exiting the premises. Police took the report and advised the business owner to call back if he returned.  

Monday, April 6

9:47 a.m. — Sex offense accusations were made by a female against a male at a location in Katonah. Police said the two know each other. The allegations are being investigated and detectives have been assigned. 

6:02 p.m. — A representative from the fuel retrieval company Buffalo Biodiesel met with police to state a container of used cooking oil behind a business in Katonah was tampered with and was missing a lock. The owner of the establishment said the lock has been missing since 2022. A report was made for documentation. 

Tuesday, April 7

6:34 p.m. — The owner of a liquor store on Katonah Avenue reported a silver Audi repeatedly parked on their private premises. Notes were left on the windshield to no avail. Police attempted to contact the registered owner of the car without result and the car was towed. The owner later contacted police and was provided with information where to retrieve their vehicle.  

11 p.m. — An officer went to a home in Katonah after a mom requested help getting her young autistic child to bed. The child’s father was delayed coming home and the child was upset. The officer was able to calm the child down and to sleep. 

Wednesday, April 8

10:57 a.m. — A fire alarm activated on the second floor of a barn on a property in Bedford turned out to be false. The property owner believed it was set off by children.  

Thursday, April 9

6:32 p.m. — Bedford firefighters extinguished an open brush burn in the vicinity of Court Road.  

Friday, April 10

12:49 a.m. — Police and Bedford firefighters responded to an activated smoke and fire alarm at a residence on Paddock Lane. They were met at the door by a man who declined to provide his name or identification and was generally uncooperative. A woman emerged who said the alarm was activated by burning incense and there was no fire.  

1:26 p.m. — An employee at a clothes cleaning and alteration business in Katonah reported an unpleasant incident with a customer she did not know who came in to inquire about altering lingerie. He returned an hour later with the garments in question with the spoken expectation she would measure him, which she declined. His response made her uncomfortable and he left the store soon after.  

4:09 p.m. — A Bedford Hills man reported fraud after a check he placed in the mailbox at the Bedford Hills post office in March was altered and cashed to an unknown party. He told police when he used the drop box he noticed a sticky substance on the drop drawer. He said he was currently out the money until he obtained a police report for the bank. A report was provided. 

9:00 p.m. — A business on Katonah Avenue reported a man outside in distress. Police soon located him and determined he was intoxicated. He was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. Police said he is 51 years old and from Houston, Texas.   

Saturday, April 11

11:34 a.m. — A man, 63, from Briarcliff, was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for a severe laceration to his ankle that occurred on the grounds of the GlenArbor Golf cCub. On police arrival they saw the injury was covered with a bloody towel; another employee had applied a tourniquet which was rewrapped and bandaged by a medic. 

11:37 a.m. — A resident of Nightingale Road, Katonah, reported his former girlfriend tried to enter his home when he wasn’t there. An officer found her sitting in her car waiting for him. She said she wanted to collect personal belongings and her dogs. Police advised her to arrange a mutually acceptable time to do this with her former partner.  

Sunday, April 12

9:18 a.m. — A woman, 97, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital from her home in Bedford Hills after falling.  

9:47 a.m. — A man, 94, reported unresponsive was alert and conscious when police and medics arrived at his home in Bedford Hills. He thought he might have had a seizure and was taken by Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

LEWISBORO

Man eating his lunch draws complaints by store owner 

On Friday,  April 10, the owner of a liquor store in South Salem reported a man sitting in his car filming him. The complainant said this has been going on for some time and he’s been advised by New York State Police the man has done nothing wrong. Lewisboro Police said they would attempt to talk to the individual in question who said he works at the school and frequents the Oakridge Commons to get takeout food to eat in his car. He relayed multiple unpleasant encounters he’s had with the liquor store owner who comes outside to tell him he doesn’t belong there and that he doesn’t have a job. 

Monday, April 6

9:42 a.m. — A Katonah resident came to headquarters with a Wicked Ridge XX75 brand aluminum crossbow arrow he said he found sticking out of the ground on his property. He claimed his neighbor reported finding the same thing. Police said the arrow is typically used for target practice. It was placed in the evidence locker at headquarters and a report was made for documentation. 

12:23 p.m. — A concerned resident contacted police regarding an online post for free kittens left in carriers in a yard in South Salem. The caller was concerned about animals being left outside. Police went to the location and only saw empty disassembled wire crates at the bottom of a driveway. 

3:39 p.m. — A Goldens Bridge resident reported being defrauded after dropping a check in March at the Goldens Bridge post office outgoing mailbox. The check, written out for $2500, was cashed by a different entity. The postal inspector has been notified and the reporting party is working with his bank to get back his money.  

5:02 p.m. — Police went to Goldens Bridge to speak with a  woman who said on April 1 she received 23 phone calls in a four-hour period. All of the calls were dead air and then the sound of a child moaning. She believes her harasser is a child who knows her child. That child and his mother were interviewed by police; the child admitted calling the complainant “one time” despite an officer saying 23 calls were made from his phone to the complainant. The child was advised these calls must stop and no further action was taken. 

8:01 p.m. — Police went to a home on Indian Hill Road, Katonah, after a resident reported kids across the street were shooting BB guns at an empty water bottle and the back of a stop sign. 

Parents at the home in question had commented online that their kids were only using “toy guns.” 

Two exchange students, 16 and 18, attending John F. Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School in Somers, were residing at the residence. They produced two pellet rifles to show the police; the Gamo Swarm Magnum had a pump and scope; the second gun was smaller and had an older scope. 

All parties were advised of the dangers of shooting near roadways and the parents agreed that the guns would only be used at a range and not their yard. Westchester County Child Protective Services was contacted. 

Wednesday, April 8

11:17 a.m. — A brush fire was reported at the Goldens Bridge train station. A 75–foot-by-30-foot fire was identified burning up an embankment. Firefighters hauled a hose to the top of the hill to extinguish the fire. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police were on scene. 

Thursday, April 9

8:20 a.m. — A caramel-colored doodle dog was reported separated from his owner in the vicinity of Mead Street after running across Route 35. Police looked for the dog; the owner called back about an hour later to say the dog was found at an address on Hunt Farms Road. 

10:25 p.m. — A Cross River resident came to headquarters to report a check in an envelope made out to the Waccabuc Country Club handed over the counter to a postal worker was cashed and made out to another party. Several postal inspectors have been notified. The resident’s bank requested a police report. 

4:55 p.m. — A Katonah child who had a potato chip stuck in their throat was fine before Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corp personnel arrived. 

6:10 p.m. — A man reported running away from Four Winds Hospital headed for Route 35 was found with the help of New York State Police and turned over to hospital staff. 

Friday, April 10

5:06 p.m. — A Katonah woman, 73, heavily intoxicated, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps after her son became concerned about her mixing alcohol with her prescribed medications. The woman told police she was drinking because she’d survived cancer four times and recently lost a good friend.

7:14 p.m. — A man dining at an Asian bistro in Cross River was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by ambulance and in the company of a police officer after he fell and hit his head. 

As he brushed off offers of help and was attempting to get to his car, police observed he might be experiencing a medical emergency as he was having difficulty standing and walking but did not appear intoxicated. His wife later called the police to say she was at the hospital with him and they were awaiting a CT scan. 

Saturday, April 11

8:30 p.m. — Police went to Cross Pond Road, South Salem, after a caller reported a neighbor shouting obscenities and banging on their door. They said they’ve had a problem with this person since July 2023. Police spoke to the neighbor who said they “could have called the police” many times. Officers advised them to leave their neighbors alone. 

9:43 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem on Lake Kitchawan Drive for a report of a loud party and a female shouting “Get away from me!” The homeowner was interviewed. 

He said his daughter was having a party that got out of hand. The guests were between 15 and 20 years old; police say there were over 100 kids on the premises. Three New York State Police units were summoned to stay on scene until most of the kids were picked up. Police said alcohol was found in the area but no teens were driving drunk. 

Sunday, April 12

12:04 a.m. — A college student who lives with her parents in South Salem reported disturbing texts she received from a male she dated in high school. 

Police said the texts were “mean” and he barraged her with 24 missed calls and 16 missed FaceTime calls. Her parents were concerned. Police reached out to the male who said he was angry she cheated on him in the past. He was told to cease all contact with her and a New York state domestic incident report was completed.

MOUNT KISCO

Sunday, April 5

12:26 a.m. — An officer observing traffic in the vicinity of Main Street and Moore Avenue made a traffic stop after he saw a vehicle speeding and operating erratically. The driver, a 24-year-old Dobbs Ferry man, was subsequently charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and issued summonses for speeding and making an unsafe lane change. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released. He appeared in Mount Kisco Justice Court on April 9.

1:46 a.m. — A man called police to report that money was stolen from his brother at a bar in the village. He said he would follow up by bringing his brother to the Green Street precinct in the morning to make a formal complaint.

Monday, April 6

6:43 p.m. — Officers responded to a North Bedford Road business on a report of a person in crisis. A woman in her 20s had locked herself in a bathroom and was threatening self-harm. Officers got the woman to come out and EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital with officers following. At the hospital, officers assisted staff with controlling the woman when she tried to hurt herself and remained there until she was cooperative with staff.

Tuesday, April 7

12:16 a.m. — Officers responded to a building on Barker Street on a report of an unwanted person. They located a 38-year-old woman in the laundry room who was previously issued a trespass warning that barred her from the building. She was issued a summons for trespassing, a violation, and directed to leave the building and not return. She is due in village court on April 23.

11:50 a.m. — Police received a report of a man at a West Hyatt Avenue residence who took too much medication. Officers entered the home when the man did not answer the door to ensure his safety. 

He was taken by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital. Officers requested the Mobile Crisis Response Team respond to the hospital and remained until members arrived.

3:06 p.m. — A Building Department employee reported that someone attempted to defraud a local builder by sending an email claiming to be from the village and seeking a $4,000 payment. A report was prepared. The matter was turned over to detectives.

5:39 p.m. — A man called police to report that he entered a South Moger Avenue business but no one was present and an alarm sounded. Officers were able to contact an employee to return to the store and lock the door.

5:50 p.m. — Officers responded to a laundromat on Main Street on a report of an irate patron refusing to leave as requested. The condition was corrected.

7:12 p.m. — A woman called police to report that she was locked in a building on South Bedford Road following a doctor’s appointment. Officers were able to assist her to leave the premises.

8:39 p.m. — A disturbance and an unwanted party were reported on West Hyatt Avenue. Officers determined the matter to be a landlord-tenant dispute and advised the parties to address their issues in court.

Wednesday, April 8

12:17 p.m. — A welfare check was requested regarding a man sleeping on a bench outside a Main Street laundromat. An officer requested that the Mobile Crisis Response Team respond to provide further assistance.

3:14 p.m. — Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road on a report of an irate customer causing a disturbance. The man left the store but was located nearby. He was issued a trespass warning at management’s request barring him from the store.

6:05 p.m. — Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road after store security observed a man trying to replace a barcode on a Samsung TV set with one from a cheaper model. The store chose not to press charges but requested that the man be issued a trespass warning barring him from returning to the store.

6:15 p.m. — A Barker Street woman requested police respond because her car had been hit by a Frisbee. She said she attempted to speak with the father of a youth involved but he would not talk to her. The condition was corrected.

8:49 p.m. — Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road after security said a man walked out with a case of Miller Lite he had not paid for. A sergeant canvassing the area detained the man at Carpenter Avenue and Barker Street. 

The 22-year-old man claimed he had paid for the beer but a review of security video showed he walked out without doing so. He was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He is due in village court on April 23. He also was issued a trespass warning barring him from the store.

Thursday, April 9

5:07 p.m. — A Carpenter Avenue resident reported that he was menaced with a handgun during an argument with a man in a white pickup truck. Multiple officers, including several from outside the village, responded and canvassed the area for the pickup. 

The vehicle was located on Parkview Place and the driver was taken into custody. The man denied having a handgun and said he only pointed his thumb and pointer finger at the other man to simulate a weapon. 

No handgun was found in his possession or in his vehicle. The 47-year-old village resident was charged with third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. He was released following arraignment in village court and ordered to turn any weapons he possessed over to police. Officers accompanied him to his home where he turned over three shotguns. 

7:38 p.m. — A Spring Street resident called police to request assistance from the Mobile Crisis Response Team due to issues he is having with his teenage son. 

Communications personnel conducted diversion screening and determined that it was safe to send team members to the home without police accompanying them. An hour later, officers were called to the residence by the dad. A  New York state domestic incident report was prepared. This report was made from official records provided by the Pound Ridge, Bedford, Lewisboro and county (Mount Kisco) police departments.
