Recent fall festivities in the area included the Westchester County Parks annual Halloween Spooktacular at the Trailside Museum and Pell Hill area of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, a Truesdale Lake Halloween and Beach Party, the Katonah Halloween Parade and a Halloween Fair at Katonah Elementary School.

Run the Farm

The 16th running of "Run the Farm," a 5-mile race, and "KIDS Run the Farm," were held at Muscoot Farm Sunday, Oct. 19. Total race finishers were  570 including  287 kids that ran in the two kids races.  Top, the cows are the pacers that guide the kids races out into the trails at the start of the Kids Run the Farm first race. Next row, track team members make playful signs, and first racers of the day line up at the starting line. Bottom row, overall winner of the men's 5-mile race Eamonn Sullivan of Cold Spring. Overall winner of the women's 5-mile race Joelle Reeves of Brooklyn.

Pound Ridge Harvest Festival's lucky 13

The Pound Ridge Harvest Festival returned for its 13th year on Oct. 4 The event drew thousands to the Town Park for an afternoon of live music, Oktoberfest-inspired food and drink and family-friendly activities. This year’s headliner was The Record Company, a Grammy-nominated rock trio. Proceeds from the festival, presented by the Pound Ridge Partnership, help fund improvements in the Scotts Corners area.


Katonah Fire Department Open House

The Katonah Fire Department open house on Oct. 11 drew visitors of all ages. Children got to see the apparatus, use fire hoses and take part in a scavenger hunt. A fire suppression demonstration was hard to miss.


Boo Walk at Muscoot Farm

Families and farmers market fans had a sunny and warm Sunday at Muscoot Farm. Coming this weekend, Oct. 10-12, is pumpkin picking, followed by the Run the Farm races Oct. 19.

Pizza party is fire

The Vista Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual Pizza Night & Open House Oct. 4.Members of the community and neighboring emergency agencies enjoyed homemade pizza, toured fire apparatus, and learned fire-prevention tips.
