Mount Kisco Police Report July 20-24

Sunday, July 20
5:55 a.m. – Police received a report of a person sleeping on the sidewalk on West Main Street. An officer spoke with a man who said he had been out all night and had sat down to rest before falling asleep. The man, who had been drinking, declined medical attention. A taxi was called to take the man home.
11:54 a.m. – Police received a report of a domestic dispute on Gregory Avenue. It was determined that the dispute between relatives was only verbal; no further police action was needed.
2:08 p.m. – A 35-year-old Long Island woman was charged with petty larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors, after, police said, she left Target on North Bedford Road without paying for $96 worth of merchandise found in her possession. She had two small children with her at the time of the alleged shoplifting incident. The woman was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending an Aug. 7 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
Monday, July 21
2:03 p.m. – An officer on patrol on East Main Street spotted a 75-year-old man in a gas station whom he was aware had several outstanding warrants issued by the Mount Kisco Justice Court. The officer confirmed that the warrants for local law violations were still active and took the man into custody. He was arraigned in village court and released pending an Aug. 7 appearance.
Wednesday, July 23
1:37 p.m. – Officers responded to Amuso Drive on a report of a man driving around the parking lots and possibly looking into parked cars. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with a local man who said his girlfriend’s cat was missing and he was trying to locate it.
5:55 p.m. – A 25-year-old Manhattan man was arrested on two felony charges after, police said, he fled from Target on North Bedford Road with stolen merchandise. Officers responded to a report that a shoplifter had just left Target with the merchandise that he had placed inside a backpack. Responding officers spotted the man in Stop & Shop, but he fled out a storage area door onto North Bedford Road. He was captured after a foot pursuit. A backpack containing 16 calculators valued at $2,409 was recovered. The suspect was booked on charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He was held for arraignment in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
11:23 p.m. – Report of squatters having possibly entered an empty residence on Woodland Street. Officers checked the premises and detected no signs of entry or of any squatters inside. Regular inspections of the property will take place while it remains unoccupied.
Thursday, July 24
7:42 a.m. – Police received a report of a man not breathing at a Glastonbury Court residence. A home health aide advised officers that upon his arrival his client was now breathing but with difficulty. Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and took the man to Northern Westchester Hospital.
12:28 p.m. – Officers from the Surface Transportation Unit began inspections of Bee-Line bus stops in the village. They also rode on several buses as part of a fare evasion prevention detail. No issues were reported.
5:40 p.m. – Officers served an order of protection to an Amuso Drive man that bars him from having any contact with a person named in the court order. In addition, the subject was served with an additional court order requiring him to appear in Westchester County Family Court on a designated date.
7:09 p.m. – Officers responded to Barker Street on a report that a man was trying to enter a relative’s residence despite a court order that bars him from doing so. After investigation, a 37-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in village court and remanded to Westchester County Jail pending a July 31 court appearance.
7:45 p.m. – A pedestrian approached officers on Barker Street to report smoke coming from the rear of a building. Officers discovered a small fire on a vinyl fence and in some shrubbery in a rear yard. An officer was able to access a garden hose to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown but does not appear suspicious in nature.
Friday, July 25
1:37 p.m. – Police received a report of a man in his 70s having difficulty breathing at an office on North Bedford Road. Officers and Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel assisted the man, who was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.
2:46 p.m. – The owner of a BMW reported that his vehicle was damaged by a hit-and-run driver while parked at a Lexington Avenue business. The incident is under investigation.
