Michele Louise DuRivage, who spent much of her adult life in Katonah, died May 27 at a nursing facility in Danbury, Conn. She was 72.
Michele was a mother, sister, friend, gardener, teacher, photographer, and admirer of everything beautiful. She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor, style, and devotion to her spiritual path.
DuRivage was born Sept. 9, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., to Robert DuRivage and Kathryn Lehnerd. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1976 and a master’s degree from the School for International Training in 1983, with a concentration in teaching English as a second language. She was fluent in French and loved traveling to Europe.
DuRivage raised her two children in Katonah and took on many roles in the Katonah-Lewisboro school district, including as a substitute teacher, and touched the lives of everyone she interacted with. She later ran a gardening business with a friend.
She is survived by her two children, Alden and Eliot, as well as her sisters and brothers. A private memorial is being planned.
