Virginia Bouton, 90, worked for schools for decades

Virginia Bouton of Pound Ridge, 90, died July 8, 2026. The Bronx native was born on June 2, 1936. Bouton dedicated more than 40 years to working for the Bedford Central School District. She started out as a lunch aide at Pound Ridge Elementary School, before becoming an assistant teacher on the same campus. Outside of the classroom, Bouton provided care to local families before and after the school day. 

Bouton will be remembered for her deep kindness and generosity, which had an impact on countless people throughout the community.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Bouton, children William Bouton and Beverly Bouton, and a grandson, Donald Flood. 

She is survived by her children, Laurel Hilliard (Stephen), Pamela Flood (Donald), Suzanne Cable (Jim), and Lawrence Bouton; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service was held Aug. 29 at the Pound Ridge Community Church.
