David Pogue to talk climate change at Bedford Playhouse

Join David Pogue — CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, seven-time Emmy winner, and author of “How to Prepare for Climate Change” — for a Bedford 2030 Community Climate Conversation at the Bedford Playhouse.

It’s a talk about the bright side of the climate crisis. Pogue will share 10 reasons to feel hopeful — and 10 actions you can take right now to help turn things around in our community. 

The Community Climate Conversation, presented in partnership with Bedford 2030, will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., at the Bedford Playhouse, located at 633 Old Post Road, Bedford. For tickets and more information, visit bedfordplayhouse.org/live-events/.


Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. 

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display. 

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.

Marion Dorothee Krumlauf, raised her family in Katonah

Marion Dorothee Krumlauf of Katonah died Nov. 30 at the age of 83. 

She was born Nov. 14, 1941, in Bronxville, to the late Heinz Herbert Bartling and Anneliese (Lange) Bartling.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Craybas (Robert) of Newtown, Conn., a son, David J. Krumlauf Jr. (Julia) of Greenwich, Conn., and five grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Herbert H. Bartling of Nazareth, Pa.  

She was predeceased by her husband, David J. Krumlauf, and a brother, George. 

After graduating from high school in 1959 she attended Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., receiving an associate degree in executive secretarial studies in 1961. She then moved to New York City, becoming executive secretary to the editor of National Petroleum News, a McGraw Hill publication.

After her marriage in 1964, she moved to Bronxville and then to Katonah where she raised  her two children. Returning to the workforce after a number of years, she worked as a secretary part time for the law firm Clark, Gagliardi & Miller in White Plains, for Dansk Designs in Mount Kisco, and for the opera singer Berenice Bramson in Katonah. 

Krumlauf worked for Community Based Services in Croton Falls, as secretary to the CEO, retiring after 20 years of service in 2007.

She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Mount Kisco, serving for many years on its council, as altar guild chairman, and as president of their women’s group. In addition, she played in the church’s handbell choir for over 25 years.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, located at 15 South Bedford Road, Mount Kisco.
