Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display.

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.

10:20 a.m. — A car struck a deer on Route 35, South Salem, when the deer jumped into traffic, getting stuck under the car. The police said the deer was able to crawl out from under the car but its hind legs were broken; police euthanized it.

A passerby reported the damage and told police no one answered the door when they rang the bell, saw a car in the driveway and lights on inside the home. Police notified the homeowner by phone. She said she had someone lined up to board up her broken windows until they could be repaired.

Wednesday, Nov. 13

7:50 a.m. — Identity theft was reported by a resident of Cross River who said two days earlier she experienced an issue with her mobile device. Her bank informed her that unauthorized purchases totalling more than $1,000 had been made using her Nordstrom credit card and she soon learned a JetBlue credit card had been issued to her without her consent or knowledge. An investigation showed her phone had been duplicated and was being used for international calling. The reporting party followed directives from her bank to file an identity theft report. Police provided the necessary documentation.

11:50 a.m. — A resident of South Salem experiencing extremely low blood pressure was taken by Vista firefighters to Norwalk Hospital.

2:10 p.m. — A loose dog was reported on West Lane, South Salem, by a dog walker. Police met with a man who said his recently rescued 70-pound yellow Labrador escaped the house and was heading towards Pound Ridge. The Pound Ridge dog control officer was notified to look for the pet. Police say the dog was found and safely returned to its residence.

5:45 p.m. — While patrolling Route 123 in the vicinity of Elmwood Road, police observed a white van traveling northbound with an obscured rear license plate. A traffic stop was initiated and the operator showed the officer a Connecticut license; the temporary paper New Jersey tags were fraudulent. The van was impounded and towed. The operator was issued a summons to appear in court Nov. 25.

6:28 p.m. — A person came to headquarters to report harassment. He said his estranged sister was sending emails to North Castle Police requesting a welfare check on their mother who resides in an assisted living home in Armonk. Friday, Nov. 15

8:34 a.m. — A resident of Lake Kitchawan Road, South Salem, reported she saw an orange extension cord not belonging to her that was attached to her home. At the other end of the cord was a van parked across the street. She saw a note on her car that said, “Hi Neighbor,” that went on to explain the occupants of the van were helping themselves to her electricity to provide themselves with heat for the night. Police arrived and saw a man and a woman asleep on a mattress inside the van. They were awakened and provided identification. Their vehicle was impounded and since the calling party was afraid they might further trespass, police transported the couple to headquarters where they were charged with larceny for the electrical power theft. Both parties were issued tickets to appear in court Nov. 18.
