Lewisboro Police Report June 9-15

Threats follow earlier incident at school

On Friday, June 13, at 3:30 p.m., the crimev of menacing was reported  by a father who came to headquarters with his young son to report a follow up to an incident involving his son two months earlier on the John Jay High School campus. The incident resulted in his son’s (former) friend being suspended for two days. Since then, the boys have not been in contact. On this date his son was inside a doughnut shop in Cross River when the former friend’s brother approached and threatened him. The school principal was notified about the specificity and alleged brutality of the threats and advised the father to bring it to the police. Officers went to the other boy’s home and first spoke with their mother and then the threatening brother who was told in no uncertain terms to avoid all contact. 


Monday, June 9

9:30 a.m. — A loose dog, described as black and white, was reported in the area of Mead Street and East Ridge Road, Waccabuc. Police looked for the dog but didn’t find it.

6:45 p.m. — Police went to an apartment complex in Goldens Bridge responding to a report of a mental health incident. The request was made by Yonkers Police. Entry was made to the building by Goldens Bridge firefighters and the party of concern was reluctant to answer the door although she was subsequently coaxed to come out of her apartment. She was afraid and didn’t understand why the police were there. Her son was called and told police his mother has trauma from past experiences. Police observed her mental state improving as soon as her son arrived. They left her in his care as their help was no longer needed. Yonkers Police were updated and said they are familiar with the woman who previously lived in their jurisdiction. 


Tuesday, June 10

7:00 p.m. — Police went to Butternut Lane, Katonah, for a report of a tree blocking the roadway. On arrival, the officer saw the fallen tree and spoke with a man who said he cut it so cars could pass. The highway department was notified for removal. 


Wednesday, June 11

8:10 a.m. — A driver traveling west on Route 35, Cross River, told police while creeping up in slowed traffic she accidentally rear-ended the car in front of her. That driver corroborated her story. A report was made. No injuries were reported. 

8:45 a.m. — A collision occurred between two vehicles on Route 121 in the Orchard Square Shopping Center, Cross River. One car was leaving just as the other was pulling in. No injuries were reported. 

3:00 p.m. —A caller on Lockwood Road, South Salem, contacted police to express her concern about a drone she observed flying over her property and also a suspicious white truck parked close by. She was concerned the drone was being used to “case” her home. Police said they would provide extra drive-bys. 

4:11 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem to assist a male who said he was playing basketball alone and during a save smashed his arm into the windshield of his car. The responding officer saw his arm was lacerated and glass embedded in his skin. Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel wrapped the elbow and he was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

6:33 p.m. — Three cars collided near Cameron’s Deli on Route 35, Cross River. One car was attempting to make a left-hand turn into the deli. A report was completed. There were no injuries, and one car was towed. 


Thursday, June 12

2:00 p.m. — A school bus damaged a rock wall pillar on a private residence in Katonah after the bus tried to turn around in a driveway on North Salem Road. All students on board were checked and there were no injuries. The Bedford Police and the homeowner were contacted about the incident.


Friday, June 13

3:45 p.m.— A person came to headquarters to report a light-haired man in his 20s they saw sitting in a silver Prius at the intersection of Timberwood Place and Tri Brook Drive, South Salem. What struck the reporting party as odd was the man was reclining in his seat. The reporting party said he knocked on the car window and asked the man what he was doing. The man indicated he was working in the area but did not speak English. As he was parked in an area where the school bus drops off students, the reporting party was concerned. Police said to call them immediately if the man returns.  


Saturday, June 14

11:53 a.m. — An elderly man was taken by an advanced life support ambulance from his home in Katonah to Northern Westchester Hospital for a possible heart attack. No further information was provided.

1:03 p.m. — LVAC and Goldens Bridge firefighters responded to a home in Goldens Bridge to assist an elderly man who fell off his chair onto the kitchen floor. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.

9:00 p.m. — A driver in South Salem reported he’d struck a deer on Route 35. Police on arrival saw heavy front-end damage to the vehicle and fur stuck in the grill. 

9:25 p.m. — An elderly man with chest pain was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Vista firefighters from his home in South Salem. No further information was provided.


Sunday, June 15

4:20 p.m. — A  resident of Cross River called 911 after her alleged intoxicated husband punched a hole in a wall while arguing with her about his drinking. He cut his hand. The woman told police he was at Northern Westchester Hospital the night before after falling down due to intoxication. She said he signed himself out of the hospital and immediately came home and resumed drinking. LVAC ambulance brought him back to the hospital and a New York domestic incident report was completed.
