Emilio Luigi Sironi, born Aug. 2, 1938, in Monza, Italy, son to Paolo and Pierina Sironi, and brother to Gabriele Sironi, died on April 19, 2026.

He lived a life defined by intellectual curiosity, deep relationships, and an unwavering commitment to what mattered most — his family and the pursuit of meaning.Emilio was the husband of Suzanne Doty Sironi and father to Claudia Sironi Biernacki (Peter) and Sylvia Sironi Rowe (Ian). He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Sophie and Nicolas Biernacki, and Camille and Oscar Rowe, each of whom brought him immense pride, joy and laughter.
He came to the U.S. to study nuclear engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where met his future wife, Suzy, marrying in 1965. His career as an executive took the family to Brookline, Mass., Bethesda and Baltimore, Md., and Louveciennes, France, before they settled in Bedford Village in 1978. In his long career, Sironi worked at Bechtel, Martin Marietta, GE, and was an executive at IBM for over 40 years.A lifelong learner, he studied math and engineering at the Institute Supérieur des Industries Nucléaires in Brussels, Belgium, and at the CEA Cadarache laboratories in Aix-en-Provence, France. Italian was his native language, but he taught himself both French and English, opening the door to an international life and career.
Sironi will be remembered for his insatiable appetite for reading and reflection, particularly books on history, religion, and the human condition. He found great joy in engaging with others, sharing ideas, and exploring different perspectives in lively, social settings. He was equally passionate about the simple and sensory joys of life: cooking, sharing meals, exploring new cuisines, and tending to his garden. His family said that he approached life with optimism and intention, valuing experiences over possessions and guided by a strong moral compass, quietly and consistently doing what was right, even when no one was watching. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family deeply, leaving behind a legacy of curiosity, integrity, laughter, and love.
