Bedford Hills larceny suspect scoots off 

On Monday, July 21, at 12:42 p.m., socks were reported stolen by the loss prevention officer at Kohl’s in Bedford Hills. A man wearing a pink shirt and black shorts removed a pair of Nike socks valued at $28 from the store without paying and rode out of the parking lot on a scooter. Police looked for the thief but were unable to find him. 


Monday, July 21

1:42 a.m. — A deer reported injured on Greenwich Road, Bedford, was found by police deceased. The Wolf Conservation Center was notified to collect the carcass.  

10:44 p.m. — An incoherent man in emotional distress was reported on the property at Sunnyfield Farm on South Bedford Road, Bedford. The property owner contacted the police to say the man was parked in a driveway and was looking for a woman who no longer lives there. On arrival, police found him to not be making sense. There was also a language barrier. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters. His car was towed from the premises.  


Tuesday, July 22

7:05 p.m. — A male, 57, from Pound Ridge was taken from a location in Bedford by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital for a possible heart attack. On police arrival, he was conscious, alert and complaining of chest pain. 


Wednesday, July 23

7:25 a.m. — A caller on The Narrows reported an unknown man parked in front of their driveway, sleeping in a car. Police arrived and it became clear the man was having a medical emergency. He was taken by Bedford firefighters to Northern Westchester Hospital. Police say he is 34 years old and from New York City.  

8:39 a.m. — A man was reported urinating in public in front of the Katonah fire station. Police say he was gone prior to their arrival and they were unable to locate him.

10:31 a.m. — A caller on Bayliss Lane, Bedford, reported a man soliciting door to door. He was quickly located by police who said he was selling Anderson windows. He was advised he would have to get a permit to solicit and was directed to the town offices to obtain the proper paperwork.  

5:42 p.m. — Police responding to the Bedford Hills Memorial Park for a report of an injured osprey were met with some proactive citizens near the ballfield who already had the bird safely secured in a bucket. It was taken to a 24-hour veterinary emergency clinic, which cared for the animal until a bird rescue group could collect it. 


Thursday, July 24

5:14 a.m. — A resident of Succabone Road, Bedford, reported their car was possibly rummaged through while parked in their driveway overnight. The reporting party said they heard the car alarm activated multiple times but did not get up to look. Police arrived to check out the situation and found the car locked and seemingly undisturbed. The resident checked their Ring camera but there was no activity. Police said there likely was an issue with the car alarm system. 

10:17 p.m. — A female, 34, from Katonah was reported fainting on Katonah Avenue. Medics arrived on scene but the woman said she was fine and refused medical attention.  


Friday, July 25

6:14 p.m. — A sick raccoon was reported on Sarles Street, Bedford Hills. On police arrival, it was observed the animal was sick and suffering; police dispatched it with one round.  


Saturday, July 26

11:41 a.m. — Police responded to a caller in Bedford, who requested assistance at his residence for an issue with his ex-partner. He said the child’s mother was on her way to pick up their child; they’d been on the phone and he heard another male voice in the car and snippets of a conversation. He said he did not want the child in the vehicle with that person. Police said the mother left the caller’s residence without picking up her child and that the child was very clear he did not want to go with his mom. No further action was requested at the time. 


Sunday, July 27

10:02 a.m. — A resident of Holmes Lane, Bedford, reported he’d accidentally driven his car into a wall of his garage. Police said there was no structural damage to the home and no one was injured.  

4:48 p.m. — Police went to an address on Watermark Road, Bedford, to check on the welfare of a female after her friend said she was unable to make contact. At the location they spoke with multiple residents. The female in question said she was fine but had lost her phone and would contact her concerned friend through social media. 

10:32 p.m. — Two grandparents vigorously arguing with their grandson, 18, who lives with them, brought police to a home in Bedford Hills. A neighbor reported the loud and angry voices. Police spoke to all involved parties who agreed to stay in separate parts of the home for the remainder of the night. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
