Arrested, charged with assault
A resident of Peekskill, female, 25, was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 10, at police headquarters charged with assault stemming from an incident at Depot Plaza, Bedford Hills, which was reported Oct. 24, when one woman viciously scratched another woman’s face. Police say the women knew each other slightly because they both work at the same Mount Kisco restaurant and had been partying after hours. At the time of the assault, the victim only knew her attacker’s first name. Detectives identified the suspect and went to Peekskill to pick her up. She was transported to the police station for processing and released on her own recognizance. She is to appear in court Jan. 8.
Monday, Dec. 9
6:59 a.m. — A female, 91, was pronounced deceased at her Bedford home. Officers met there with her son who found her unresponsive. CPR was initiated and Bedford firefighters were soon on scene hooking her up to oxygen. A medic arrived and pronounced her deceased. Police say there was nothing suspicious about her death.
7:46 p.m. — A man in his 50s who overstayed his welcome at the Bedford Hills home of a friend was deemed unfit to drive and given a courtesy ride to the Bedford Hills train station by police after his girlfriend said he was “acting weird.” She said he was disoriented and high. She asked him to leave and he left, but then later returned unannounced and uninvited. He was confused as to why the police were there. A New York state domestic incident report was completed for the complainant. His car was towed.
Tuesday, Dec. 10
10:55 a.m. — A woman reported sleeping in a Jeep with a flat tire parked in front of a business on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, was detained and brought to police headquarters. She was eventually released after the Jeep’s owner, a Greenburgh resident, told police he was not aware that the car was not in his possession. He said he did not want to press charges and no further action was taken.
Wednesday, Dec. 11
7:23 a.m. — A caller on Babbitt Road, Bedford Hills, reported her neighbor’s dog tried to bite her son. She said the dog frightened her son by jumping on him as he was attempting to board a school bus. She told police in the past the dog bit her daughter. The dog’s owner said the dog was only playing and had only jumped on the child. The dog control officer has been notified for follow up.
3:07 p.m. — A three-car collision happened on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, at the Green Lane intersection when one driver looked down to check their phone. That caused them to not see another vehicle stopping at the light causing a domino effect. One driver complained of neck pain but refused medical attention. No injuries were reported from the other drivers. No cars were towed. No citations were issued.
3:34 p.m. — A caller in Katonah reported a former boyfriend might be having sexual relations with a minor after he saw an alarming message on his partner’s phone. A report was made for documentation only and detectives were notified.
11:44 p.m. — An intoxicated male, 34, was reported on Valley Road, Katonah, outside of St. Mary’s church. Police said he’d been out in the rain for several hours. He was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro EMS to be treated for intoxication and hypothermia.
Thursday, Dec. 12
10:35 a.m. — A male, 34, was reported possibly intoxicated sitting in a car in the McDonald’s parking lot on Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. Police on arrival saw the car was unoccupied; an employee told dispatch the man was now entering the restaurant. An officer pulled him aside for a chat and he appeared sluggish but not intoxicated. The officer deemed him unsafe to drive and notified the manager at his place of work, a tire store just up the street. Another employee came to get his car which was driven to the man’s workplace. Less than an hour later, the manager called the police to report his employee’s altered mental status. The responding officer said he appeared to be in the same state he was at McDonald’s. The manager showed him a picture he’d taken on his phone of the man slumped over in a chair. Medics responding couldn’t find anything wrong with him. The officer called a taxi to take the Bedford resident home. His car remained at the shop. At 4:39 p.m., police received a call about an unwanted employee on the property. It was the same man, wanting the keys to his car. The manager declined to give him the keys because he thought he was unsafe to drive. The man insisted he was sober but admitted he has a drug problem. His mother came to get him and drove him home in her car.
8:38 p.m. — A female, 13, was aided at her Katonah home after complaining of chest pain. After medics arrived, she and her mother declined transport.
Friday, Dec. 13
12:04 p.m. — A pedestrian was struck on Old Post Road by a car turning out of a parking lot on the Village Green in Bedford, making a left-hand turn. The operator said she looked both ways and then some but didn’t see the female, 85 from Bedford, and there is no signal or crosswalk. The injured party said the car never actually struck her. She told police she put one hand out to brace herself against the car as it was coming towards her and fell down. She complained of pain in her right hip and was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters. No citation was issued to the driver.
3:07 p.m. — A male, 2, was transported from his Bedford Hills home to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford firefighters after his parents reported he was having difficulty breathing.
Saturday, Dec. 14
3:28 p.m. — A caller on Croton Lake Road, Bedford Hills, reported a neighbor, male, yelled at her. He said he was walking on the road when he saw her pulling into her driveway and she began recording him. Police advised them to avoid contact with each other.
7:54 p.m. — A resident on Valley Road, Katonah, told police her daughter accidentally gave personal information to a fraudster pretending to work at a hospital seeking “pre check-in information.” At some point the daughter became suspicious this was not an authentic call. The mother reported they are at no financial loss and a report was made for documentation.
Sunday, Dec. 15
6:37 p.m. — A family member requested a welfare check on a sibling on Croton Lake Road, Katonah. Police went to the home and spoke with a daughter and her mother. The mother explained 911 was called when her daughter had an emotional outburst after having a negative experience at a local ice cream parlor. The daughter was calm and no police assistance was required.
