Town Supervisor Ellen Calves, Tree Advisory Board member George Fernandez and Oliver Kane, 4, prepared the soil at Bedford Village Memorial Park for planting a new tree. They were among the crowd that gathered to mark Arbor Day, adding a Carolina silverbell, a spring-flowering tree at the Earth Day Festival on April 26 at  the park. The tree was planted by members of the town’s Tree Advisory Board, including Chairman Jeff Carpenter, along with Supervisor Ellen Calves and Town Board members. Tree Advisory Board member Marilyn Pellini read an original poem celebrating trees, their beauty and the important role they play in the environment. Recreation and Parks staff supervised the tree selection and planting.
