It was a week of victories and milestones for the Fox Lane girls varsity lacrosse program as the Foxes roll into the playoffs with eight straight victories and close out the regular season with a 15-1 record.
Fox Lane finished the regular season with a 17-1 victory over Irvington at home May 18, but the big win came on May 15 at home as senior Michaela Kaltsas recorded her 300th career point to lead the Foxes to a 15-4 win over Lakeland/Panas.
Kaltsas had missed four games with an illness, but showed she is back at full strength, scoring three goals and assisting on three others as the Foxes cruised to the victory. She has been a starter on varsity since eighth grade to compile her 300 points, and she is looking forward to a strong finish in the playoffs before moving on to play at Williams College next year.
“Feels great to be back, I felt a little rusty at first, but it’s great to be back at full strength,” said Kaltsas after reaching her milestone. “It’s a great achievement and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. They’re always there for me and so helpful. Everything is clicking and everyone is coming together.”
It was a slow start for the Foxes as the two teams were tied up 1-1 at the end of the first quarter, but it was all Fox Lane the rest of the way. The Foxes reeled off six-straight in the second quarter for a 7-1 lead at the half. They added four more to start the second half and open up an 11-1 lead on their way to the 15-4 victory.

Cora Moore finished with four goals and three assists to lead the way, and she also dominated on the draws to control possession. The senior recorded her 200th career point a week ago in a win over Brewster.
“Our team really came together after that first quarter, just moving the ball, finding cutters,” Moore said of the win over Lakeland/Panas. “We had a great win over Somers and we’re really starting to work well together.”
In addition to Kaltsas and Moore, Dylan New had a big game with four goals and an assist, while Taylor Webb also had a hat trick finishing with three goals and three assists. Julia Sirchia scored a goal, and Molly Rodriguez made four saves in goal for the Foxes.

Two days earlier at home on Wednesday, the Foxes scored a big win over a tough Somers team by the score of 15-9 as New led the way recording her 100th career point and finishing with five goals overall. Kaltsas had three goals and an assist, while Moore scored two goals and had three assists. Sirchia had a big day with the hat trick scoring three goals. Taylor Webb and Phoebe Skinner each added a goal, and Rodriguez made six saves in goal.
Fox Lane closed out the regular season with the win over Irvington and the Foxes now wait to see the seedings and match ups for the upcoming Section 1 Class A playoffs.
“It’s great to have Michaela back,” said Fox Lane coach Jaime Williams. “Our defense has been amazing all season. Our goalie and our defense have been doing a great job and that gets the offense going. As a team getting closer to sectionals, Somers was a huge win for us. We keep preaching, ‘Don’t get comfortable with the lead.’ Our mentality is to keep playing hard this year, taking it one game at a time, focusing on the team in front of us.”
