Join David Pogue — CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, seven-time Emmy winner, and author of “How to Prepare for Climate Change” — for a Bedford 2030 Community Climate Conversation at the Bedford Playhouse.

It’s a talk about the bright side of the climate crisis. Pogue will share 10 reasons to feel hopeful — and 10 actions you can take right now to help turn things around in our community.

The Community Climate Conversation, presented in partnership with Bedford 2030, will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., at the Bedford Playhouse, located at 633 Old Post Road, Bedford. For tickets and more information, visit bedfordplayhouse.org/live-events/.

Model train show on display in Bedford Hills through Jan. 28

The Bedford Hills Historical Museum is hosting a “New Model Train Show” on the lower level of the Town of Bedford building located at 321 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills.

The display is open Thursday and Saturday through Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Visitors can see the HO Gauge model trains run on the track in the village that was built by the late Dr. Robert Bibi of Katonah and donated by his wife, Maria, and reinstalled at the museum. With the guidance of our board member and train aficionado, Rick Carmichael, members of the Olde Newburgh Model Railroad Club installed the HO-gauge set at the museum where it remains on display.

The museum says the new model train display is great for kids of all ages and adults, and it’s free of charge.

Three games, three victories, seven goals scored in each game. That adds up to a pretty impressive week for the John Jay varsity field hockey team as the Wolves improved to 5-0-1 overall on the season.

Homecoming was the latest seven-goal outburst for John Jay as the Wolves dominated for a 7-0 victory over Somers Sept. 21. It was 7-0 over Pearl River two days earlier at home as the Wolves hosted the Pirates, and two days before that it was a 7-1 win on the road at Harrison

“We are playing nice hockey at this early part of the season,” admitted John Jay coach Debbie Walsh. “We are focused on consistency, keeping possession of the ball and using our team’s athleticism to take advantage of transitioning to offense.”

In the homecoming victory over Somers, it was the Degl sisters dominating the action at midfield to lead the Wolves to the victory as Jojo Degl scored two goals and had one assist, while little sister Finja Degl also scored two goals and had an assist.

Senior captain Kaycie Keeley also finished with two goals and an assist, and Logan Bueti scored the other goal for John Jay. Senior captain Jane Brennan had an assist, and Emma Quinn also had an assist for the Wolves.

Molly Gallagher and McKenzie Ryder had an easy day in goal recording just one save to combine for the shutout victory.

Two days earlier on Thursday at John Jay, it was a team effort as seven different girls scored a goal for a 7-0 win over Pearl River.

Kaycie Keeley led the way with one goal scored and assists on three others. Jojo Degl had a goal and an assist. Other goal scorers for the Wolves included Sophie Shaw, Bueti, Jane Brennan and Kayla Magier with one goal apiece. Julia Verrone had an assist.

Gallagher and Ryder combined for the shutout, with Ryder recording four saves in goal to close out the victory.

At Harrison, it was Jojo Degl with a big game as she scored two goals and had four assists to lead the Wolves to a 7-1 win. Kaycie Keeley scored two goals, while Laney Daly, Bueti and Magier each scored a goal.

Gallagher made three saves and Ryder made two in goal to combine for the win for the Wolves.

John Jay now has a five-game win streak since starting the season with a tie against Fox Lane, but it will be a tough test ahead for the Wolves as they were set to host Rye Wednesday, Sept. 25, and then travel to Lakeland on Saturday to take on the defending Section 1 champs.
