March Madness event to support Foundation for Bedford Central Schools

The Foundation for Bedford Central Schools plans a March Madness fundraiser Thursday, March 20.

The evening of game viewing, raffles, food and beverages for the first round of NCAA competitors will be held from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Captain Lawrence Barrel House, located at 369 Lexington Ave., Mount Kisco.

Tickets are $150, raffle $50 and brackets $25.

Tickets are limited. You don’t have to attend the event to participate in the raffle or brackets.

Online raffle and bracket ticket sales end Thursday, March 20, at 9 a.m. Raffle tickets also will be available for purchase at the event.

Vine cutting set at Guard Hill Preserve March 14

Join Guard Hill Preserve staff Friday, March 14, to cut invasive vines to help some trees in need.

Due to the high amounts of burning bush found within the preserve, volunteers also will be selectively cutting it as they scout the area for vines.

Pound Ridge Police Report Jan. 22-26

Wednesday, Jan. 22

9:28 a.m. — A  two-car collision on Westchester Avenue resulted in no injuries and no tow.  

10:50 a.m. — A one-car crash on Upper Shad Road resulted in no injuries and no tow. 

8:15  p.m. — Police conducting a radar detail on Westchester Avenue found no drivers in violation.  

9:45 p.m. — A caller on Westchester Avenue reported a drone flying very low to the ground.  Police responded  to the site with negative results.


Thursday, Jan. 23

9:10 a.m. — During a traffic detail conducted on Westchester Avenue, seven summonses were issued to drivers: six for speeding and one for operating an unregistered vehicle.  

8:48 p.m. — A caller on Old Stone Hill Road reported a gray Honda as suspicious. Police located the described car by the park. The operator appeared to be using the portable toilet. Police advised them the park closes at dusk and the operator left the area. 


Friday, Jan. 24 

7:40 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken from her home to Northern Westchester Hospital by Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

10:25 a.m. — A summons was issued to a driver traveling on Long Ridge Road for an equipment violation. Police noted the nontransparent windshield as the culprit.  

3:40 p.m. — Police responding to a report of a two-car collision on Westchester Avenue saw property damage to the cars, neither of which required tow. No injuries were reported. 


Saturday, Jan. 25

1:30 a.m — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken from his home to Northern Westchester Hospital by PRVAC.

5:00 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken by PRVAC to Northern Westchester Hospital. 


Sunday Jan. 26

8:05 p.m. — A radar detail conducted on Westchester Avenue yielded no violations.  

1:10 p.m. — Two traffic summonses were  issued to a driver traveling on Westchester Avenue for having an invalid ID card and no insurance.  

6:17 p.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for having an nonoperative left headlight.
