Don’t mess with big cats 

On Saturday, Aug. 9, at 6:30 p.m., a caller on Park View Road reported seeing a bobcat in their yard. An officer advised the homeowner they don’t remove healthy and non-aggressive wildlife and recommended it be treated like a bear — don’t interact with it and it won’t interact with you.  


Wednesday, Aug. 6

5:36 p.m. — Police patrolled to Tatamuck Road for a report of a smoke situation; the fire department was on scene. No smoke condition could be located. 

6:00 p.m. — Two summonses were issued to drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue: one was for speeding, doing 50 mph in a 30-mph zone; the second was for operating a motor vehicle without a valid  inspection certificate. 

8:53 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle reported on Cross Pond Road was gone on police arrival. 


Thursday, Aug. 7 

9:00 a.m. — A radar detail on Westchester Avenue resulted in no violations. 

5:38 p.m. — A traffic summons was issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue for failure to display a valid inspection certificate. 


Friday, Aug. 8 

The Pound Ridge Police Department issued 21 permits for bow-hunting within the town limits. Police have advised they will keep track of animals taken.  

6:00 p.m. — A ticket was issued to a driver traveling on Westchester Avenue for failure to stop at a stop sign.  


Saturday, Aug. 9 

5:14 a.m. — A radar detail on Westchester Avenue resulted in no violations. 

6:35 a.m. — Police went to Long Ridge Road for a reported motor vehicle accident. On arrival they couldn’t find any cars or anyone who witnessed or was involved in a collision.  

11:35 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for failure to obey a traffic device. 

11:55 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for not having a valid inspection sticker.  

10:57 a.m. — A caller on Upper Shad Road reported a suspicious man walking in the roadway. Police located the man who was not in the middle of the road and who said they didn’t need assistance. 

12:30 p.m. —Two women were reported on Horseshoe Hill Road going door-to-door requesting assistance. Police did not locate them.  

2:45 p.m.—  A dog was reported barking loudly at a residence on Old Logging Road. Police spoke to the homeowner who said the dog was visiting and they would bring it inside.   

5:25 p.m. — Police went to a residence on High Ridge Road for a report of loud music. The source of the reported loud music could not be found. 


Sunday, Aug. 10

10:23 a.m. — A caller on Brook Farm Road reported 10 Porsches drag racing/traveling in a pack at a high rate of speed in the immediate area. Police looked for the cars but couldn’t find them.  

1:15 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign.  

7:30 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was issued a summons for failure to stop at a stop sign.
