BEDFORD
Neighbor dispute leads to arrest
On Friday, Oct. 2, a Yonkers man, 58, was arrested at police headquarters stemming from an incident that occurred Sept. 12 in a residential complex in Bedford Hills. During a dispute between neighbors, he is said to have brandished pepper spray and pretended to be a police officer.
At the time, a warrant was made for his arrest and a few weeks later a license plate reader located him in the area. A traffic stop was conducted and he was brought to headquarters for processing. At that time pepper spray and other weapons were found in his car.
He was charged with menacing and impersonating a police officer. He was to appear in Bedford Town Court on Oct. 7. At the time of his arrest, he was turned over to Nassau County Police, who wanted him on other charges and he was remanded to their county lockup.
The other party in Bedford Hills was given an order of protection. Police said that at the time of the September incident, the man’s address was in Bedford Hills.
Monday, Sept. 28
11:10 a.m. — Police returned to a business in Bedford Hills because an upset customer did not understand the process necessary to retrieve a car from impound. An officer again explained to him what paperwork was required and he left, again, without his car.
11:57 a.m. — A Bedford resident came to headquarters to report an unknown party claiming to be from a credit service said she owed a large amount of money. She suspected the call was a scam and called the credit service who confirmed no account was made in her name and she does not owe any money.
Tuesday, Sept. 29
4:51 p.m. — A Bedford resident reported a suspicious interaction she had with two men she said came to her home soliciting house siding and windows. She said she gave them more personal information than she intended and then asked them to leave, which they did. Police could not locate the individuals.
5:42 p.m. — A woman came to headquarters to report that her husband, who is the subject of a restraining order, keeps trying to contact her. She described several incidents but no threats. Police tried to contact him but he was out of the country. Police said there were no violations. The wife was advised to return to family court to change her order from restraining to full protection.
Wednesday, Sept. 30
7:57 a.m. — A burglary was reported at a Bedford residence by the property manager who saw broken glass. Police arrived and saw signs of forced entry and items strewn around the interior. The homeowner, a part-time resident, was notified and told police they would provide a list of anything missing or stolen. Detectives are investigating.
11:47 a.m. — Police went to the Town Clerk’s office for a report of an upset man causing a disturbance. There was a language barrier as his first language was Russian. As it happens, the newly sworn in officer on the Bedford police force speaks Russian; he was able to communicate with the individual to assist in correcting a clerical error on his marriage license.
Thursday, Oct. 1
1:35 p.m. — A Bedford Hills resident, 75, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for cardiac issues after a visiting nurse told police he needed medical attention immediately.
10:11 p.m. — Police assisted a woman off the floor in Bedford Hills. She said she didn’t want further help and no further action was taken.
Friday, Oct. 2
4:50 p.m. — The operator of a vehicle reported driving erratically in the vicinity of Bedford Road and Harris Road was gone on police arrival.
8:02 p.m. —Police received another call regarding erratic operation of a vehicle in the vicinity of Cherry Street. That driver was gone on police arrival.
Saturday, Oct. 3
12:04 a.m. — Police assisted a woman in Katonah who fell out of bed.
1:13 p.m. — A fire was reported at a residence on Guard Hill Road, Bedford. Police on arrival saw Bedford firefighters extinguishing a piece of equipment outside the house.
9:20 p.m. — A Bedford Hills resident came to headquarters to report a white van she saw while walking in Katonah she deemed suspicious. She said she saw the same van in the Home Goods parking lot in August in Mount Kisco and at the time reported it to Westchester County Police. She denied having any interaction with the van’s occupants. A report was made for documentation.
Sunday, Oct. 4
11:56 a.m. — A Bedford resident, 85, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital by Bedford firefighters after falling out of bed a week earlier. She said she was still in pain.
LEWISBORO
Monday, Sept. 28
8:29 a.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem on a report of an unresponsive person. The individual was located in bed, breathing, but not conscious. Police assisted Vista EMS getting the person onto a stretcher. The patient was taken to Norwalk Hospital. No further information was provided.
1:31 p.m. — A door-to-door salesman traveling on an e-bike was reported in the Twin Lakes area of South Salem peddling pest control products without a permit. Police located the sales rep and gave them a summons.
Tuesday, Sept. 29
10:45 a.m. — A resident of South Salem came to the police to report her former boyfriend was putting letters in her mailbox, sending text messages and making uninvited visits. She contacted police after a heart-shaped mark was drawn inside a window at her home and her current boyfriend found a similar heart drawn inside his bedroom window. Neither home was locked and police were unable to verify illegal entry of either home. The reporting party told police her employer’s Instagram account elicited a comment describing her in an unfriendly manner. The comment was deleted prior to her being able to obtain a screenshot. She told police her ex has three rifles stored at another residence. Westchester County Police have been made aware. A New York state domestic incident report was completed on her behalf.
Wednesday, Sept. 30
8:30 a.m. — Police pulled over a vehicle on Route 35, Cross River, without a rear license plate. A check of the driver’s paperwork revealed that a temporary Connecticut plate displayed on the windshield came back to an entirely different vehicle and the word “registration” was misspelled. The driver was placed under arrest and issued multiple tickets. He is to appear in court Oct. 12.
7:30 p.m. — Police went to Lake Shore Drive, South Salem, on a report of a suspicious group on the lake. Eight kayakers said they were renting a house on Main Street and using the kayaks provided for recreation.
Thursday, Oct. 1
4:19 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle was reported in the Old Field Preserve, Waccabuc. Police saw a vehicle with Connecticut plates parked with the hood up. The operator told police his car wouldn’t start and he was doing work nearby for a resident on Mead Street; he said he didn’t need help because a friend was coming to assist him.
Friday, Oct. 2
1:30 p.m. — A woman came to headquarters to report that Thursday, Oct. 1, she saw a white Toyota Tacoma with New York plates parked near Benedict Road. The operator was dressed to hunt and carrying a bow and arrow. She was unsure if he had permission to hunt those woods; her concern was that he would enter her property. She was advised it was likely he had permission to be where he was. Police said to let them know if she had further concerns.
5:50 p.m. — A driver traveling eastbound on Ridgefield Avenue, South Salem, collided with a ride-on lawnmower being loaded onto a trailer. The owner of the landscaping business said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed; the driver told police he’d fallen asleep at the wheel. No injuries were reported and police helped facilitate an information exchange.
Saturday, Oct. 3
12:33 p.m. — Police were dispatched to a home in South Salem for a domestic dispute; while en route they learned one of the parties had left the residence and was headed to the Somers Police barracks. They were asked to meet an officer at Lewisboro headquarters. No further information was available.
4:27 p.m. — A domestic trespassing complaint was made at a home in South Salem. Police spoke with a woman who shared what she saw. The reporting party has a stay away order against another person. Police are following up.
Sunday, Oct. 4
9:01 p.m. — A South Salem resident came to headquarters to report his husky left outside in his yard was missing. Cameras on his property showed a dark-colored sedan entering his driveway and doing a U-turn. Police received no calls regarding a found dog. They canvassed the Silvermine/Lockwood area looking for it without result. New Canaan Police were notified about the missing dog.
MOUNT KISCO
Saturday, Sept. 26
11:46 a.m. — An officer responded to ShopRite on North Bedford Road to assist a customer who was experiencing a diabetic emergency. EMS was requested. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to take over care and transport the man to a hospital.
12:40 p.m. — A woman on Canterbury Way was experiencing a rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
8:22 p.m. — Several officers responded to Carlton Drive after a woman reported hearing a loud noise in her garage and finding one of the garage doors partially raised. She also reported that a garage door opener was recently stolen from her vehicle. Officers checked the garage and perimeter of the home and found no signs of entry. Officers also canvassed the neighborhood but observed no suspicious people or vehicles.
Monday, Sept. 28
11:34 a.m. — A Greeley Court man reported that he saw someone going through a neighbor’s mailbox before driving off in a red SUV.
3:41 p.m. — An officer responded to a restaurant on North Bedford Road on a report of a disorderly customer. The subject was gone upon an officer’s arrival.
Tuesday, Sept. 29
8:58 a.m. — Police received a report of a man yelling at himself and causing a disturbance on Carpenter Avenue. An officer located the man, who is known to police, and advised him to keep his voice down so as to not alarm others.
10:16 a.m. — Officers responded to North Bedford Road on a report of a youth in emotional crisis. EMS was requested. The youth was taken by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.
3:49 p.m. — Officers responded to the 300 block of North Bedford Road on a report that a woman had been run over by her own vehicle. The woman, in her 70s, left her car in neutral when she exited, and it rolled backward and knocked her down when she walked behind it. The woman, who was conscious and alert upon officers’ arrival, was aided by staff from a nearby medical office as EMS responded. She was taken by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center.
5:28 p.m. — An officer reported that a person was in emotional crisis on North Bedford Road. The Mobile Crisis Response Team was requested along with EMS. The person told the officer that he would go with EMS to a hospital for evaluation.
5:57 p.m. — An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue observed a group of men near Sarles Avenue, one of whom was drinking a beer. A 48-year-old man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation.
Wednesday, Sept. 30
8:30 a.m. — Officers responded to a tow yard in Bedford after staff reported they were being repeatedly harassed by a man whose vehicle was impounded by Westchester County Police. Officers advised the man that he needed to bring the required paperwork with him in order for personnel to release his car to him. He was also issued a verbal trespass warning, advising him that the property owner will file a trespass charge if he continued to harass staff.
12:17 p.m. — Police received a report of a youth in emotional crisis on North Bedford Road. Officers, the Mobile Crisis Response Team and EMS responded. The youth was taken by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
7:01 p.m. — Police received a report from MTA police of a teen missing from a Metro-North train. County and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police canvassed the area around the Mount Kisco station and located the youth at Lexington Avenue and Green Street. County units resumed patrol and turned the matter over to MTA police.
11:46 p.m. — A tow truck struck a parked car on Boltis Street. The responding officer advised that the vehicle owners were exchanging information and they declined a report.
Thursday, Oct. 1
9:20 a.m. — An officer responded to a building on South Bedford Road on a report of a burning smell, possibly electrical in nature, in a first-floor break room. The area was evacuated. The Bedford Fire Department and Con Edison responded to investigate the source of the odor. The scene was declared safe and police and fire assets cleared the call at 10:01 a.m.
2:28 p.m. — A manager of a South Moger Avenue business reported a suspicious vehicle and expressed concern that the driver was watching people coming in and out of his store. An officer made contact with the driver, who was sitting in his pickup truck eating lunch.
POUND RIDGE
Tuesday, Sept. 29
2:08 a.m. — A resident of Eastwoods Road was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.
6:43 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 54 mph in a 30 mph zone.
7:42 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 53 mph in a 30 mph zone.
9:09 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 56 mph in a 30 mph zone.
11:09 a.m. — A resident of Lakeland, Fla., was arrested on Pound Ridge Road during a routine traffic stop. Police said he was driving with a suspended license and his vehicle wasn’t registered. He is due in court Oct. 19.
12:02 p.m. — An order of protection was served on Westchester Avenue. No further information was provided.
2:45 p.m. — A woman was taken by ambulance from her home on Hoyt Road to Stamford Hospital. No further information was provided.
Wednesday, Sept. 30
10:41 a.m. — A caller reported illegal use of gas leaf blowers at an address on Fox Run Road. Police on arrival observed a saw being operated in a legal manner.
Thursday, Oct. 1
1:54 a.m. — A resident of Pheasant Road was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. No further information was provided.
10:26 a.m. — Two summonses were issued to a driver on Westchester Avenue: one for improper license and the second for failure to stop at a stop sign.
6:53 p.m. — A caller on Old Snake Hill Road reported a bear on the property. It had returned to the woods before police arrived.
10:36 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign. Police say they were also unlicensed and ticketed.
Friday, Oct. 2
1:06 p.m. — An obstruction reported in the roadway on Trinity Pass Road it was gone prior to police arrival.
7 p.m. — A tree was reported blocking the roadway on Landt Lane. The highway department was advised.
Saturday, Oct. 3
2:50 p.m. — Gas leaf blowers were reported in use on Beech Hill Lane. Police saw no violators.
4:23 p.m. — A caller on Long Ridge Road reported seeing a bear. Police on arrival said it had returned to a wooded area.
9:10 p.m. — A dog was reported barking on Cradle Rock Road East. Police patrolling the area said all was quiet.
Sunday, Oct. 4
5:15 a.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 54 mph in a 35 mph zone.
9:39 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was ticketed for doing 53 mph in a 30 mph zone; they also had no inspection sticker.
11:15 a.m. — A driver was issued a ticket on Westchester Avenue for using their phone while operating a motor vehicle.
