Police Reports: Pound Ridge, Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, Sept. 9-15

Pound Ridge

Tuesday, Sept. 9

1:00 p.m. — A driver on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign. 

1:45 p.m. — Two drivers on Westchester Avenue were issued tickets for driving while using their cellphones. 

10:00 p.m. — No violations were found during a traffic detail on Westchester Avenue. 


Wednesday, Sept. 10

8:43 a.m. — Police went to an address on Waring Road in response to a complaint about someone using a gas leaf blower. What they found was a landscaper aerating a lawn. No violations were observed. 

 9:20 a.m. — Responding to a report of littering on Eastwoods Road, police found illegally dumped construction debris. The highway department was notified to remove it.  

9:45 a.m. — Four summonses were issued to drivers on Westchester Avenue: two for speeding; and two for using cellphones while driving. 

11:05 a.m. — A complaint about gas-powered leaf blowers reported on Old Pound Ridge Road. No violations were observed. 

8:38 p.m. — A driver on Stone Hill Road was issued a summons for failure to heed a stop sign. 


Thursday, Sept. 11

10:50 a.m. — A caller on Mallard Lake Road reported someone breaking the law using a gas-powered leaf blower; on arrival police saw an individual working for a tree company operating a wood chipper. No violations were observed. 

11:49 a.m. — A female, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

5:45 p.m. — A found dog reported on Hack Green Road was returned to its owner.

8:06 p.m. — A one-car crash on Stone Hill Road resulted in no injuries. The car was towed. 


Friday, Sept. 12

10:00 a.m. — Police assisted the operator of a disabled tractor trailer on Westchester Avenue. The front tire was blown. 

11:00 a.m. — A loud noise complaint coming from a home on Kinnicut Road was determined to be unfounded.  

11:25 a.m. — A caller reported a suspicious man behind their property on Pound Ridge Road. Police spoke to a hiker using a legitimate trail and said there was no problem. 

6:50 p.m. — A caller reported a bear on Westchester Avenue. Police saw no sign of the bear on arrival

8:10 p.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital.


Saturday, Sept. 13

8:55 a.m. — A driver traveling on Westchester Avenue was given a ticket for going 54 mph in a 30-mph zone. 

9:27 a.m. — A driver parked on Westchester Avenue returned to their parked car to find they’d been ticketed for their expired registration. 

11:00 a.m. — A male, age and condition unknown, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 

4:30 p.m. — Police responding to a parking complaint on Clearwater Lane couldn’t find the culprit. 


Sunday, Sept. 14

6:45 a.m. — Drivers traveling on Westchester Avenue were issued summonses: one for speeding; one for a tinted windshield; and two for equipment violations. 


Monday, Sept. 15

8:00 a.m. — A driver traveling on Salem Road was issued a summons for failing to obey a traffic signal. 


Bedford

Monday, Sept. 8

1:11 p.m. — A car dealership in Mount Kisco reported a Land Rover taken from its overflow lot on Norm Avenue, Bedford Hills. Security video showed two men arriving at the gated and locked lot in a gray sedan and tampering with it. The thieves used an electronic device to open and activate the targeted vehicle; proper keys to it were locked inside the dealer’s building. Cameras showed the sedan and the Land Rover leaving the area, heading south. Police are investigating. 

3:44 p.m. — A Bedford man, 67, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford firefighters after he was struck by a car in the vicinity of Cantitoe Street and Guard Hill Road. Police saw him lying on the grass with a laceration to his right eye.   


Tuesday, Sept. 9

7:09 a.m. — Police received an email complaint about illegal parking and crosswalk issues in front of Katonah Elementary School on Huntville Road. Police dispatched enforcement and there were no further complaints. 

8:58 a.m. — Two men were reported standing in the roadway in the vicinity of Bedford Road and Green Lane in Bedford Hills after a traffic disagreement. A witness said one driver passed another heading south on Route 117 waiting for a red light to turn green. The men had gotten out of their cars which they stopped in the road to argue. Police said they calmed down and returned to their cars. No tickets were issued. 

12:15 p.m. — An Ossining woman and her husband reported her wallet was stolen while they were getting take-out food from a restaurant in Bedford Hills. They realized the wallet was missing when they got home and contacted the restaurant to request footage from the establishment’s surveillance. While police were talking to restaurant staff, the woman contacted them to say she’d found her wallet which had been in her vehicle all along.  

2:27 p.m. — A man described as “scruffy and bearded” was reported abandoning a car without plates left in a cul de sac on Quarry Lane, Bedford. Police said the car was parked there waiting to be picked up to be returned to Carvana and there was no problem.

6:14 p.m. — A disturbance was reported in the parking area of The Mews Condominiums, Bedford Hills, between two women; one woman is currently dating the other’s ex. Police said there was some name calling but nothing physical. No action was taken by police.  


Wednesday, Sept. 10

12:25 p.m. — A dispute between three men related to each other brought police to a residence on Babbitt Road, Bedford Hills. A cousin, who has been living with two brothers, was accused of not paying his fair share of the rent. The brothers want him out. Police advised this was a matter for landlord/tenant court and advised the brothers they can’t evict their cousin because he is behind on his share. The men agreed to work it out between each other. 

3:42 p.m. — Police said a person reported shoplifting earlier in the day at the CVS in Bedford Hills was caught by police a few hours later at the CVS in Peekskill. Bedford Police are waiting for video from the Bedford Hills store before charges for that larceny are filed. 

6:01 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills to check on the welfare of a female, 32, who is cared for in her home. She called New York state Police to threaten them. Bedford Police are aware of her situation and said the threats were not genuine and there was no danger. 

9:13 p.m. — Police went to a home in Bedford Hills for an argument between a woman and her son’s girlfriend. The mother was upset because when the girl came over, the door opening caused the dog to bark which woke the mother. Police spoke to both parties and the girl went home.  


Thursday, Sept. 11

4:15 p.m. — A sick raccoon reported in the vicinity of Bedford Road and Hill Street, Bedford Hills, was gone on police arrival.

4:43 p.m. — Staff from the medical group located in Katonah on Bedford Road reported a patient, 87, who they felt should not be driving her vehicle. Police located the woman who admitted she felt dizzy. Her son was contacted and picked her up. 


Friday, Sept. 12

7:43 a.m. — A caller traveling on Greenwich Road, Bedford, reported a suitcase on the side of the roadway. Police say it was gone when they drove by to check.  

9:50 a.m. — A resident of Bedford, male, 33, requested police come to his home in The Farms neighborhood to assist him in removing his former girlfriend, 37, who he asked help care for him after a recent surgery. Police had a word with her and she was made to understand he wanted her to visit and help, but not move in.  


Saturday, Sept. 13 

3:44 p.m. — A bear reported walking around an unspecified location in Bedford Village was gone before police arrived.  

6:33 p.m. — A resident of Pawling contacted police to say her husband never came home after she dropped him and his car off nearly four hours earlier at a Bedford Hills location. She wanted to know if they had news of anything that might have happened. They did not. A license plate reader showed him leaving that location in Bedford Hills but nothing further. She called back shortly to say he arrived home and there was no problem.  

Sunday, Sept. 14

4:12 p.m. — A bear reported in a driveway in Bedford Village was gone on police arrival.  


Lewisboro

Monday, Sept. 8

9:36 a.m. — A driver on North Salem Road, Cross River, told police she was distracted and drove her car onto the road shoulder where she hit a sign post and some Belgium block. She was able to steer the vehicle back into its proper lane. No injuries were reported. 


Tuesday, Sept. 9

5:30 p.m. — A woman who said there was a warrant out for her arrest and was trying to turn herself in came to the town offices after hours and the doors were locked. She was told to come back the next day. 


Wednesday, Sept. 10

9:01 a.m. — Larceny was reported at an auto shop in Goldens Bridge. The owner reported sometime in August over a period of two days approximately $6,000 worth of equipment went missing from a job site. Police are investigating. 

4:30 p.m. — A resident of South Salem, male, 73, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Westchester EMS after falling in his bedroom. 

7:50 p.m. — A male, 8 months old, was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. His mother said she was reaching for a diaper when the boy fell onto a hardwood floor. 

9:41 p.m. — Two bears were reported in a yard on Mark Mead Road, Cross River; one knocked over a garbage can. Nearby residents were advised to keep their pets inside. Police saw no sign of the bears on arrival. 


Thursday, Sept. 11

4:30 p.m. — Property damage was reported in a parking lot at the North County Shopping Center in Goldens Bridge during a parking incident. Neither driver was injured. 

9:00 p.m. — A tree was reported blocking a roadway in South Salem; the specific road was unnamed. Vista firefighters said they would come and remove the tree.  


Friday, Sept. 12

7:45 a.m. — A person reported walking in the roadway in the vicinity of Route 35 and Cherry Street was gone when police went to look for them. 

9:54 a.m. — Police went to the entrance of the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation after an abandoned vehicle was reported in the area. They saw a car off the road in a heavily wooded patch. The police searched for the driver without result. The vehicle appeared to have been in a collision and destroyed a school bus sign. The registration came back to an owner in Connecticut who was contacted. She told police a deer ran out in front of her car, causing her to swerve. She said a passing motorist gave her a ride home. Police told her where to find her car and advised her that she should have called and reported the accident. Police had the car towed. 

9:05 p.m. — A caller reported their concern regarding multiple people hanging out in the park by the John Jay Middle School. Police responding said a football game was in progress.


Saturday, Sept. 13

4:45 p.m. — A person who struck their head on their clothes dryer at their South Salem home was treated on scene for a small cut by Vista ambulance. 


Sunday, Sept. 14

8:40 p.m. — Police went to an address in South Salem for a verbal argument between a mother and her teenage daughter. Police spoke to both parties and a New York state domestic incident report was completed. No further information was provided.
