BEDFORD

Dogs make themselves at home

On Sunday, July 5, at 2:10 a.m., a caller on Haines Road, Bedford Hills, reported two great Pyrenees dogs came onto his property and when he opened the door, they entered the premises. As the dogs were too big to fit into the police vehicle, the reporting party said they could stay at their house overnight. 

Monday, June 29

9:42 a.m. — Police received a call from Succabone Road, Bedford Hills, about the bear who continues to enter a horse property to bother and possibly attack the horses. The bear was not on scene when police arrived. 

11:19 a.m. — A Bedford Hills business owner came to headquarters to report that earlier in the week men entered her store and made multiple transactions using credit cards and gift cards. The complainant said she is not out any money and only wanted a report for documentation. 

7:34 p.m. — A Katonah resident reported an auto insurance policy was fraudulently opened in her name. She discovered this when she received a letter saying she owed money for a car registered in Georgia, a place she’s never lived. A report was made for documentation. 

Tuesday, June 30

1:14 p.m. — A concerned neighbor contacted police requesting a welfare check on a neighbor not seen or answering their phone for five days. It was learned the party in question was in the hospital having a procedure.  

8:19 p.m. — A Bedford youth, 15, was taken to Westchester Medical Center by Bedford EMTs after they crashed an ATV they were driving in the vicinity of East Field Drive and Old Post Road. The youth failed to yield at a sign and collided with a car. That driver, 35, from Yorktown, wasn’t injured. Both vehicles were towed. The ATV also had a passenger who police said was not injured. 

Wednesday, July 1

10:31 a.m. — A 2-year-old was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital from her home in Bedford Hills after pushing a small toy up her nose. Her breathing was not obstructed but medics arriving on scene could not extract the toy. 

6:00 p.m. — A Bedford woman, 21, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital after experiencing a seizure at her home.  

Thursday, July 2

11:35 a.m. — A caller on Harris Road, Katonah, requested a welfare check on some horses in a pasture. The dog control officer went to the location and saw the horses were fine and had plenty of water.  

2:27 p.m. — A Bedford business owner reported an employee stole cash in envelopes inside the register and had video to prove it. They requested a report for documentation but did not want to press charges. They told police they were terminating that employee.  

4:13 p.m. — A Bedford Hills resident came to headquarters to report their lost motorcycle licence plate.  

Friday, July 3

9:48 p.m. — First responders went to a Katonah home after a man, 71, was reported not breathing. He was breathing when police and medics arrived; his wife declined further medical attention. 

9:56 p.m. — A Bedford woman, 54, reported feeling dizzy and lightheaded. Police on arrival said she had no air conditioning. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.  

Saturday, July 4

8:15 p.m. — A caller reported a tree branch in the roadway in Bedford Hills at Babbitt Road and Milan Avenue. Police were able to move the branch and open the road. 

8:28 p.m. — Fire was reported on Cartway Lane East after a falling tree brought down wires. Police closed the street and the utility was notified. The Bedford Fire Department extinguished any fire. 

8:30 p.m. — A downed tree was reported on Cherry Street, Katonah, in the vicinity of Hampton Place. Police taped off the roadway. Wires were down. The utility was notified. 

8:51 p.m. — A tree was reported blocking the roadway at South Bedford Road by the Fox Lane campus . 

8:50 p.m. — A tree was reported entirely blocking the roadway at Rock Hill Road, Bedford.  

10:49 p.m — A 1-year-old was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center for difficulty breathing. 

11:13 p.m. — Police said a trash bin fire on Rome Avenue, Bedford Hills, was started by discarded fireworks. It was extinguished by Bedford Hills Fire Department.  

Sunday, July 5

8:46 a.m. — A Bedford man, 90, was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital after falling in his home.  

11:47 a.m. — A 2-year-old was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center after having a seizure. 

12:08 p.m. — A Katonah man, 68, reported having fallen down the stairs and not breathing, was still not breathing when police arrived. The officer applied CPR until medics arrived. He was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

POUND RIDGE

Tuesday, June 30

5:00 p.m. — A caller on Samuel Dann Way reported a man riding a scooter going door-to-door selling something. Police located the man who said he worked for a pest control company. He was advised he would need a permit to solicit in Pound Ridge. 

6:52 p.m. — Police responded to Upper Shad Road and shortly after Blacksmith Lane after residents reported males on motor scooters attempting door-to-door soliciting. The salesmen were advised by police they could not solicit without a permit. 

Wednesday, July 1

10:45 a.m. — A Davids Lane man was taken to Stamford Hospital by the Pound Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps for an unknown condition. 

Thursday, July 2

9:25 a.m. — Using radar equipment, police said they caught a speeder on Salem Road going 54 mph in a 30-mph zone. The motorist was also given a second ticket for “no financial security” for the vehicle. 

3:25 p.m. — Police and Pound Ridge firefighters went to a residence on  Sherwood Road for a reported fire. On arrival they saw flames and smoke coming from a power box outside the home. Firefighters extinguished it and the homeowner was advised to contact an electrician to replace the panel. 

Friday, July 3

4:54 a.m.— A woman was taken by ambulance from Scofield Road  to Stamford Hospital for an unknown condition. 

7:40 a.m. — A man was taken by ambulance from Woodland Road to Stamford Hospital for an unknown condition.  

10:50 a.m. — A two-car crash on Donbrook Road resulted in no injuries. Neither vehicle was towed.  

9:30 p.m. — A dog or dogs reported loose on Kitchawan Road were safely returned to their owner.  

Saturday, July 4

7:10 p.m. — A Highcliff Terrace woman was taken by ambulance to Stamford Hospital for unknown reasons. 

9:29 p.m. — A one-car crash on Route 137 resulted in one person being taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for unknown injuries. Their vehicle was towed. 

10:52 p.m. — A caller on Dann Farm Road reported illegal fireworks. Police couldn’t find any. 

Sunday, July 5

3:20 a.m. — A Salem Road resident was provided a lift assist by police and ambulance corps personnel. 

8:05 a.m. — A caller on Fox Hill Road reported wires down due to fallen trees. The utility and highway department were notified. 

8:50 a.m. — A caller on Upper Shad Road reported low hanging wires. Police cordoned off the affected area with caution tape and the utility was notified. 

10:15 a.m. — A Salem Road man was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for unknown reasons. 

LEWISBORO

Red, white and Baloo 

On Independence Day at 3:30 p.m., a caller on Harbor Place reported a black bear in her pool area  On police arrival, they saw two bears; one bear was in the pool and climbing out. The other bear was returning to the woods. The homeowner said the bear damaged the pool liner. A large tear was observed. 

Monday, June 29

7:05 a.m. — A caller in Goldens Bridge reported a dying or dead fox in the area. Police responding said it was dead and not on town property or a hazard to anyone. The caller was advised to contact her building manager to remove the carcass. 

2:25 p.m. — A male, age unknown, was reported having a seizure at  Lewisboro Town Park. Westchester EMS and the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps were on the scene when police arrived. Police said he had been swimming and had a seizure when he left the water. He was awake and conscious when being taken to Northern Westchester Hospital; his mother was notified. 

2:45 p.m. — A man going door-to-door selling pest solution products was reported on Main Street, South Salem. Police advised as he did not have a permit to solicit he should leave the area. 

Tuesday, June 30

11:16 a.m. — A Katonah woman came to headquarters to report an unknown party fraudulently used her accumulated airline miles to purchase gift cards valued at over $700, and a few days later used her miles again to purchase more gift cards valued at over $11,000. Her airline account was aware of the fraud and only required a police report to make the correction for the complainant. 

12:30 p.m. — Court appearance tickets were issued to two different door-to-door salesmen for a pest control company after being warned of the no permit/no soliciting town ordinance. Both parties are expected in court July 13. 

Wednesday, July 1

12:04 p.m. — Police responding to a medical alarm at a Cross River residence entered via an unlocked door to locate a woman who said she’d just vomited and felt faint. EMS arrived and said she was experiencing heat-related distress. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

2:14 p.m. — A man experiencing a panic attack was taken by Vista EMTs to Norwalk Hospital. He said he was working with his father on a landscaping job on Smith Ridge Road, South Salem, when the panic attack happened. 

6:55 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem for a report of trespass. On arrival they spoke to an individual who said their surveyor signs were removed. Police said there is an ongoing issue with a neighboring party who doesn’t want the reporting party in their driveway or anyone looking at that person’s property to use their driveway. A civil incident report was completed for the complaining party who said vulgar language was used. 

Thursday, July 2

1:00 p.m. — Officers were dispatched to Cove Road, South Salem, to check on the welfare of an elderly woman after her neighbor expressed concern. Police said the home was vacant and appeared neglected. The resident was contacted by phone and was well. 

4:08 p.m. — A driver doing 50 mph in a 35-mph zone was pulled over on Route 123. The driver produced a Connecticut license that was suspended in New York on two dates for failure to answer a summons. The operator was issued multiple tickets but allowed to drive away. 

Friday, July 3

8:43 a.m. — A Pound Ridge Road person was taken to Norwalk Hospital by New Canaan EMS for hernia pain. 

10:55 a.m. — A Katonah man who told police he’d passed out while power washing his pool was awake and with EMS with ice packs around his neck. The Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Northern Westchester Hospital for treatment. 

11:00 a.m. — A South Salem resident came to headquarters about a notice they received in the mail indicating their car had passed a stopped school bus on Bedford Road, Katonah. The resident thought it was a scam. Police advised it wasn’t and provided information to the resident how to to contact the Westchester County Police who initiated the notice. 

Saturday, July 4

5:10 p.m. — An employee at Four Winds Hospital, Cross River, said she was running down the hill to a parking lot when she fell and injured her knee. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital. 

9:00 p.m. — A tree was reported falling onto a vehicle on Orchard Drive, South Salem. Police said the 2029 GMC pickup was heavily damaged. 

Sunday, July 5

9:07 a.m. — Police and South Salem firefighters went to an address on Howe Street after a generator used during the power outage leaked carbon monoxide into the home. Fans were used to clear the air. No one was injured. 

5:10 p.m. — A South Salem woman called 911 to report her son was cursing and yelling, but not at her. Police said he was uncooperative; his mother was advised he could not be compelled to converse with them. She said she would call back if the situation escalated. 

MOUNT KISCO

Sunday, June 28

2:32 p.m. — Police received a report of a man sitting on the steps of St. Francis of Assisi Church on Green Street yelling at people passing by. The man was offered mental health assistance from the Mobile Crisis Response Team but declined and left the area.

4:45 p.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man drinking a bottle of beer near St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street. The man, 55, was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. The summons is returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on Aug. 6.

5:25 p.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man drinking from a bottle of beer near the Mount Kisco Public Library. It was the same man who was issued a summons about 40 minutes earlier. The man was issued a second summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The second summons is also returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on Aug. 6.

5:47 p.m. — An officer on patrol observed a man drinking from a can of beer in the 300 block of Lexington Avenue. The 51-year-old man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The summons is returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on Aug. 6.

Monday, June 29

1:01 a.m. — Officers responded to Carpenter Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute that began in an apartment and spilled out into a parking lot. After an investigation, a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, a felony. He is accused of punching a woman in the face several times during the dispute. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment. A New York state domestic incident report was prepared and lethality screening conducted.

4:40 a.m. — An officer responded to the Mount Kisco train station on a report of a man passed out on the platform. The officer helped the man to his feet and escorted him to the front of the station. After evaluation by Westchester EMS, the man was taken to the hospital due to a high level of intoxication.

10:20 a.m. — Officers responded to Gatto Drive on a report of a person in crisis after a verbal domestic dispute at her home. The woman was taken by the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center for evaluation.

10:44 a.m. — An officer observed a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and drinking from a can of beer on the 100 block of Lexington Avenue. The man, 27, was issued summonses for riding on the sidewalk and for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, both violations. He is due in village court on July 30.

4:53 p.m. — An officer returned to the Green Street precinct to meet a person who wanted to turn in a lost wallet. The wallet was vouched for safekeeping and efforts were underway to contact the owner.

8:34 p.m. — An officer observed a man drinking from a can of beer on Barker Street. The 26-year-old man was issued a summons for public consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a violation. The summons is returnable to village court on Aug. 6.

Tuesday, June 30

6:22 a.m. — Police received a report of a man sleeping on the sidewalk in Kirby Plaza. The condition was corrected.

7:29 a.m. — An officer assisted a woman in her 50s who suffered a knee injury when she fell on South Moger Avenue. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps took her to the hospital.

3 p.m. — An officer responded to Croton Avenue to take a report from someone who was a victim of wire fraud and scammed out of $112,000. The matter was turned over to detectives for investigation.

9 p.m. — A 26-year-old village man was arrested and charged with second-degree rape, a felony, following an investigation by detectives into a relationship he was having with a 14-year-old girl. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and taken at midnight to Westchester County police headquarters in Hawthorne to be held overnight for arraignment. He was arraigned the following day in Mount Kisco Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. 

Wednesday, July 1

12:29 p.m. — An officer responded to St. Francis of Assisi Church on a report that a woman had passed out there. She was taken to the hospital by EMS.

2:48 p.m. — An officer responded to a medical office on South Bedford Road on a report of a disorderly patient in a waiting area. The man left the premises when police were called and was gone upon arrival.
