Westchester County police are investigating the apparent suicide of a female who was found dead in the wooded area near East Main Street and Lexington Avenue in Mount Kisco on Wednesday morning.

The identity and age of the deceased was not released by authorities. She is not a resident of Mount Kisco, police said.

A Westchester County Medical Examiner’s vehicle was seen on Route 117 along with police patrol cars shortly after 10:30 a.m.

Police were investigating the death as a suicide. A spokesman said because of the ongoing investigation, no additional information was being shared at this time.

This is the third time in the past two years that a body has been discovered in the woods in Mount Kisco. In June 2023, a 36-year-old man with a history of sleeping outside was discovered dead in the same area off of Lexington Avenue. On Dec. 22, a 59-year-old homeless man was found in the woods near Lexington Avenue and Lieto Drive near multiple open containers of alcohol.

The village has had problems in recent years with individuals congregating and sleeping on trails and in the woods.
