Road rage

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 4:50 p.m., an officer went to the home of a Lewisboro resident who allegedly followed a man in her car from the Orchard Square Shopping Center, Cross River, to the ShopRite in Brookfield, Connecticut, in an apparent road rage incident.

The man notified police earlier in the day to report that while he was visiting the post office in the Orchard Square Shopping Center, a woman’s white Dodge van, parked in a handicapped space, touched his tire, somewhat blocking him from leaving his parking space. He asked her if she would move her car and her response was, “You want to hit me, don’t you?” He left and then she followed, beeping and flashing her lights at him on Route 121 and Interstate 684, the man told police. In the Connecticut parking lot she told him she’s lived in Lewisboro her whole life and she would see him again. Police went to the woman’s home and at first she didn’t answer. Police made contact soon after and told her to leave the man alone and not to follow people.

But why the bat?

Police went to a home in South Salem on Woodway Road on Friday, Jan. 31, at 12:45 p.m., to speak with a girl who said she stayed home from school that day when a strange man appeared in her driveway carrying a baseball bat. She said he attempted to open the door but then left. She called her parents. Three police officers looked for the car the girl described and located it on Boway Road. The man, who lives on Boway,  told police he thought he saw smoke coming from the Woodway residence and thought there was a fire before realizing the smoke was coming from a dryer vent. No explanation was given as to why he was carrying a bat.
