Engaged couple has Thanksgiving tussle
A woman and her fiance got into an argument Thursday, Nov. 28, Thanksgiving Day, at a Waccabuc River Road home. There was some pushing and shoving that resulted in him bumping her onto an ottoman. Police arriving around 12:36 p.m., say they were arguing about the turkey. He agreed to stay with his parents for a few days. She said she was going to Florida to be with her parents. A New York state domestic incident report was completed.
Man tells neighbors they’ll be dead soon
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 3:45 p.m., a caller on Lake Kitchawan Drive, South Salem, reported his neighbor was filming him and his partner and made some statement that they would “be dead soon.” Police went to the neighbor’s home which is on a different street; he accused the reporting party of being on drugs but denied threatening them. In front of the police he did call them “junkies” and predicted they wouldn’t live long. Police advised him to stop taking pictures and avoid all contact.
Monday, Nov. 25
8:55 a.m. — A dog was said to have been struck by a car on Smith Ridge Road, South Salem. Police on arrival saw it was a dead deer, not a dog. The roadway was not blocked by the carcass. The officer notified the New York State Department of Transportation to collect it.
4:06 p.m. — An unknown individual was observed by police removing an old guard rail placed on the side of the road in South Salem by the town of Lewisboro without any permission or authority. The person, when contacted, said they thought it was trash. They were informed the town would be reusing it and apologized for any misunderstanding.
6:00 p.m. — A resident of Katonah reported their neighbor has dangerous dogs. They told police the dogs injured themselves when they became involved in a dog fight; all the dogs belong to the neighbor. The reporting party said two of the dogs severely injured the third. Police spoke to the owner of the dogs who said the dogs were up to date with their vaccinations and that one dog did go to the veterinarian for treatment. She said she is working with a family member on how to mitigate the dog situation. An animal bite form was completed.
Tuesday, Nov. 26
7:30 a.m. — A white truck with Connecticut plates was reported on Route 121 in the vicinity of John Jay High School. The caller said the driver was unable to maintain their lane. Police looked for the vehicle with negative results.
8:55 a.m. — A NYPD shield was found in Goldens Bridge in the vicinity of the train station by a person out for a walk. Police say it belongs to an officer out of the city’s 49th Precinct. Lewisboro Police took possession of the mini-shield for safekeeping.
10:57 a.m. — Police went to the home of a South Salem resident after a concerned party reported she was unable to be reached all morning. The person in question answered the door and said they were fine. Police entering the home noticed her landline phone wasn’t sitting in the cradle properly.
12:12 p.m. — A car was impounded by police in South Salem after police saw it traveling on Route 35 with an expired inspection sticker carrying plates assigned to an entirely different car. Five summonses were issued to the operator and the car was towed.
8:40 p.m. — Police went to Lakeside Drive in South Salem for a requested welfare check on a friend. The concerned party mentioned this person has serious health issues. Police located the woman taking a walk with a friend. She said she had no idea the concerned party was worried and that her phone died, which is why she’d been out of contact.
Wednesday Nov. 27
11:15 a.m. — A man who said he needed to remove personal items from the basement of Cameron’s Deli on Route 35, South Salem, requested a police escort to remove a half van load of his belongings. He said on an unknown date he would be returning with a large truck to collect more of his belongings. He was advised to come to police headquarters first.
1:50 p.m. — A driver and his passenger involved in a collision on Lake Kitchawan Drive after striking a deer wished to be transported to different hospitals; she wanted to go to Stamford Hospital and he wanted to go to Norwalk Hospital. Police said they were unruly towards ambulance personnel. She said she would take an Uber and he said he would go with her. Both parties refused medical attention. AAA towed their car to their South Salem home.
8:00 p.m. — Police went to Four Winds Hospital in South Salem where they met with a nurse who said a man came to pick up his daughter. On his arrival, he was told his daughter could not be picked up due to the late hour. The man became upset at this news and called 911. Police helped him understand he could pick his daughter up in the morning and he was satisfied with that response.
Thursday, Nov. 28
6:10 p.m. — A patient at a long-term facility in Goldens Bridge threatened self-harm. On arrival, police saw she had cut herself multiple times on the forearm. The wounds were superficial. She was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Friday, Nov. 29
12:00 p.m.— A large piece of sheetrock was reported in the roadway on Pond Street, Goldens Bridge. The obstruction was cleared.
5:45 p.m. — Police went to a residence on Waccabuc River Lane to serve a family court summons to a woman’s fiance in reference to a domestic incident that occurred at the residence Thursday, Nov. 28.
Saturday, Nov. 30
3:50 p.m. — A man who fell and hurt his back at his home in South Salem a few days earlier was evaluated by Westchester paramedics and taken by Vista Ambulance to Norwalk Hospital.
6:30 p.m. — A small fire was reported coming from a campfire in the vicinity of Kitchawan Lake Road. Police advised there is no open burn at this time and the campfire was extinguished.
