Family matters
On Saturday, May 31, at 2:10 p.m., police went to an address in Goldens Bridge for a dispute between a mother and daughter who at one time shared the address. The daughter left three months ago to live with a friend but returned unexpectedly to retrieve some clothing. Her mother told police she hadn’t given her daughter permission to return. Police arrived and told the daughter to work out a time with her mother to collect her things. The mother told police she would put her daughter’s belongings in a bag and leave it at the top of the driveway.
Monday, May 26
10:18 a.m. — Contact was made with all persons currently on the “Are You OK?” reassurance call list with successful results.
Tuesday, May 27
7:00 a.m. — A South Salem woman called 911 because her husband wasn’t waking up and was making strange noises. On arrival, he was awake and said he was fine but admitted he’d fallen and struck his head outside a local deli and never got it checked. He was taken by Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
8:20 a.m. — Police went to a residence in Katonah after a homeowner told them a raccoon was wobbly on its feet and who had retreated behind a large shrub near a stone wall. Police said it appeared sick or injured and humanely dispatched it.
9:35 a.m. — A sick raccoon was reported on Post Office Road, South Salem. The caller said it was lying in the same location for four days and growled if anyone got near it. Police said it appeared sick or injured and humanely dispatched it.
3:00 p.m. — One car ended up in a ditch on Route 35 after the driver sped up to avoid being struck by another vehicle pulling out of a driveway. Police found the car lying on the passenger side. The driver wasn’t injured and was assisted out of the vehicle by two officers. The car was towed.
9:25 p.m. — Police went to a home on Perch Bay Road, Waccabuc, for a report of a suspicious silver SUV parked at the bottom of the caller’s driveway. The suspect vehicle was gone before police arrived.
Wednesday, May 28
1:50 p.m. — A South Salem man was reported screaming odd things about God in the vicinity of the Oak Ridge Commons condos. Police looked for the man with negative results.
7:35 p.m. — Police went to a home in South Salem and spoke to a woman who said she’d hired a man to do some outdoor work on her property; she disliked that he never made an appointment and was in the habit of just showing up. She said they had a difference of opinion about pay he said he was owed. She called back later to say she felt uncomfortable having him return to finish the work. Police advised her to let them know if he returned.
9:25 p.m. — A South Salem resident reported their mailbox was damaged by an unknown vehicle the night before. Video surveillance only showed the homeowners coming home to find their mailbox damaged and clearing up debris. There was no footage of it being damaged.
Thursday, May 29
11:30 a.m. — A father asked police to check on his son, 9, who he said he’s been out of contact with. Police went to the child’s home in South Salem and spoke with the mom who said the last time the child’s father attempted to speak to his son was nearly three months ago. Police said family court conditions are in place for the father and son to communicate and the man was advised to confer with the court.
1:00 p.m. — Police went to Green Hill Road, Goldens Bridge, after a resident said they had security footage of someone driving into their basketball hoop. The operator left the scene and did not try to contact the homeowner. Police followed up with that party, a FedEx driver, who said they knew they hit the hoop but didn’t know they’d caused damage. That operator was issued a ticket for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Friday, May 30
12:00 p.m. — Criminal mischief was reported at Fox Valley Park, Katonah, after an unknown party had driven “donuts” in a playing field; a chain link fence appeared to be broken to gain entrance. Police thought the damage was done by an ATV and not a car. An orange ATV was reported in the area of Main Street and Salem Road by a caller the night before. Parks and Recreation were notified to rectify the damage done to the upper field.
7:35 p.m. — A Katonah resident was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital by LVAC for a possible stroke. No further information was provided.
Saturday, May 31
11:00 p.m. — Two cars collided on Route 35, Cross River. One car was turning into a driveway while another car attempted to pass. No one was injured and neither car required a tow.
12:43 p.m. — A fallen tree blocking traffic on Route 121 was moved to the shoulder before the New York State Department of Transportation could arrive.
5:42 p.m. — An unresponsive woman was reported at a home in South Salem. She was awake when police arrived; her husband said she was “out” for about three minutes. LVAC took her to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
Sunday, June 1
3:38 p.m. — A caller on Rainbow Hill, South Salem, reported their neighbor’s landscaper was violating noise ordinances for work on Sundays. Police went to the home and the homeowner said his landscapers ordinarily do not work on Sundays and he would tell them about the ordinance.
3:53 p.m. — An elderly man was taken by LVAC to Northern Westchester Hospital for an unspecified illness.
